• wish a new vid would pop up from u bob. So that we can see

  • who the fuk is bret keen? everyone keeps talking about him? tell me..

  • Brett Keane is now known as "TheStallion76".

  • Brett Keane channel-hopping update: he has opened yet another channel: MrEvilution777 (sigh).

  • Your best "drama" video yet, (with some wild, unfounded conclusions, but it worked) but I've been hoping to see you get back to the speculative, philisophical, nature of living type stuff.

(but after the sales job you just did on "fakesagan 2" you better not decide not to post it - a fascinating character study, hanging him by his own words... I don't see how that could be done, so naturally I can't wait to see it done)

  • Whats with the needless overly dramatic effect.

Talk a bit faster and try making it entertaining this was really dull.

  • LOL, don't worry fakesagan, that's just AA threatening you as a muslim sock account.

  • Quality video. Good work.

I guess FakeSagan is worth your time for some reason...

  • Yeah... for some reason. I trashed two videos where I tried to explain the reason. I guess that means I don't buy my own reason anymore.

  • You pause too much. There are to many damn moments of silence in-between what you have to say!

    Cut that shit out! Please?

  • Sigh. All I can say is, I'm getting better.

  • "I want out of Jerry Springer atheism." MetaBob is a poet.

  • I'm a poet. I know it. Hope I don't blow it.

    ...to plagiarize Bob Dylan.

  • HaHa the friendly geek is the most self deluded psycho ive ever seen videos from

  • hmmm good point

  • if i was a robot pissing oil. i'd piss on brett keane's face.

  • borrrrrinnnng

  • wow man that was some nice choreographed stuff going on there. i like the no look video queue. anyway good to hear you're going back to good ol' metabob.

  • I like this video, the amazing atheist was complaining, but jesus christ!

I like AA, but I hate brett keane, he's a fag

    GO METABOB!!!!!!!

  • atheists sure like to bicker with each other alot.

  • theist do it a lot more FNORD

  • brett keane is 30! my lord he must have had a hard life!

  • 30 my backside hard life would have killed him to make him look that old at 30.

  • I was being sarcastic. I think at one point he was listing his age as 30.

  • He is listing his age as 30 at his TheForsakenChild profile page on LiveVideo.

  • I think what you say is essentially true about the Day Room, but I don't reach the same conclusion about its value. I think you allude to one way this is possible when you mention 'character study'.

If you look at the sign on the outside of the Day Room door, sometimes it says "Understanding Fuckwits 101".

Here is ToranaDave's advice to the kiddies (now with NEW! added AGE-INAPPROPRIATENESS! tm):

"Make sure you know which class you are in (for fucksake children!)"

  • I've never watched any of your videos before. I agreed with most all of what you said here, but I don't think I understand the point. You say you don't want to get involved with drama, and you aren't going to talk about these topics anymore, but you still went ahead and posted this. I'm not sure I believe your pained expression throughout the video-- why would you film and then post this if you didn't want to?

  • Entertainment value?

  • I want to piss oil on people

  • post them

  • bob, btw, I want to make clear, as I've commented on this... I have a problem with the video where you tried, imo, to inflame paranoia in hardcase... in itself not a good move imo when people are actual paranoids, dangerous for them, but made worse by your claims of being constructive or benevolent (claimed on your behalf).

  • Mind you... he was bitching at you as well, and so I understand why you might get all passive agressive in such a case, especially if you prefer not to be agressive-agressive... still, I'm calling a spade a spade and it gives credence to the complaint that your rants are no less insulting or base than those of others, but merely dressed up differently.

I don't judge you as a man one way or another based on just a few such experiences, fwiw.

  • You just created more drama. way to go

  • This whole series of events makes me want to comment, but I dont think I will

  • Clearly you're smarter than I am.

  • a) I never said I didn't like your channel. I was subscribed to you. b) I shouldn't have to apologize; I didn't insult you, didn't slander you, didn't exhibity any hostility toward you. I merely said that you might be taking things too far with your "war". That's all. c) I couldn't apologize to you anyway except on a comment forum of another video because you BLOCKED me. Make sense?

  • when do you do a godless evangelist project? seriously, go Nietzsche 2.0, it takes them 100 years just to figure out they were pwned...

  • the fact that you praise them should warn them that someone thinks they are useful... and they should wonder what the use is.

  • can't wait for the fakesagan "character study"... you seem to totally misunderstand him... e.g. thinking you could provoke paranoia and thus play with his emotions. Seriously though, not snidely said, I am interested to see that video.

  • pyrrho, I wasn't trying to provoke fakesagan's paranoia, I was MOCKING his paranoia. And I think it's pretty obvious I was successful in playing with his emotions.

But that's not much to be proud of. I truly did start this thinking I was "doing good." Now I'm just fighting my own urge to take it to the limit.

You call fakesagan "mature." I'd agree, in the sense that he's trapped in his personality. I didn't think that at the start, but now I do.

  • I think you're devoting far too much time to attacking/responding to YT atheists. You involved yourself into their affairs with comments, which is well within your rights, but then complain when retaliation finds its way back to you. If you can't handle it, stay out of it. Right?

  • Your quote of "I want out of the YT Dayroom" is the funniest I've heard in ages.

  • You are very intelligent but it seems that you fail to grasp that anything those guys say on one day can completely change the next day or even five minutes later. They do a freestyle method that is more thought flow then strict data downloading. I often watch their update videos for clarification, because they sometimes say and do crazy stuff. The aftermath can be just as interesting. They learn as they go. For them nothing is writtien in stone. And it's mood based.

  • I was referring to TAA and Fakesagan.

  • I much prefer you ranting for 35 plus minutes on philosophical subjects. Really. And yes, people reveal themselves under observation, except for perhaps those rare people who can really act without their own personal biases getting involved

  • Will try to rant more about ideas.

Yes, the whole seeing the real person thing to me is the major attraction of YT, and was the essence of my problem with Frankenstein. (Though personality can shine through in words too, and I really like you in that way.)

BTW, one of your fans hates me now because I said "Fuck Frankenstein." I tried to explain it was a Buddhism joke, but he was not mollified.

  • I always thought frankenstein's face had awsome character - stern, unnaturally steady, an equal but different (and therefore in some sense better) source for a voice and thoughts to eminate from.

  • i'd like to see you out of the YT day room, too. Are you even really an atheist? You may be an atheist of some sort, but very different than the atheist community here

  • Yes, I really really am an atheist. I don't believe in a personal god. I don't believe in survival of the personality after death. I reject the idea of a supernatural realm that is somehow impervious to scientific observation. Isn't that enough to call yourself an atheist?

  • i pretty much believe all that and don't call myself an atheist :P but fair enough

  • I could as easily call myself a pantheist. A Wattsian pantheist. But I would rather tell my "fellow" atheists that they're being too limited in their understanding of science, mysticism, etc. than explain to "fellow" theists that my pantheism doesn't have a beard or a bad personality or magical powers.

  • Pretty presumptive. An atheist is usually somebody who does not base his life on the possible existence of a deity, and usually, but not necessarily, believes in a limited conscious existence. The perception of mysticism (which appears to be more true than objective reality) is not unknown to me, but I wonder whether one's true identity can be found through mediation, or whether it is the interaction with that which is not us what defines us and makes us self-conscious.

  • My God doesn't have "a beard or a bad personality or magical powers" either. Bob, I expect better from you than that.

  • Jesus, waltherchemnitz, I can't say ANYTHING around you!

  • ; ) Just keeeding!

  • Consider something for a second. When I put in positive comments, I don't get responses. However, if I put in something negative or defend something, I can generally be sure to get a response. Interesting, eh?

  • Have I never responded to a positive comment from you? If not then I'm sorry. Your first comment on this thread I didn't answer because I didn't know HOW to answer (I want to leave that issue alone). On your "Memorial Day" comment, I was going to ask who you were quoting, but first I tried to google it and failed, and then got distracted because I keep trying and failing to avoid YT so I can get my RL work done. I do this to loads of people, semi-randomly.

  • But also, re "I expect better from you," WC, you have to know that if you believe in a supernatural God, sooner or later I'm going to make fun of "him."

  • But you didn't make fun of him, that's the whole point :P

  • Oh, it goes "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori sed dulcius pro patria vivere et dulcissimum pro patria bibere Ergo bibamus pro salute patriae" You might not be able to google it. That's the toast people used to make to honor those who died at sea, I think. I can imagine a good toast like this to those who are owned, pwned and dethroned by fakesagan 2. ;)

  • please talk FASTER

  • Sorry. I wish I knew how.

  • this is just the internet. let's not pretend we know people. everyone take a step back and chill. your psychoanalysis freaks me out, man.

  • I disagree. We may not know all the facts about each other. But anybody who goes on camera -- you, me, anyone -- even if they think they're putting on an act, reveals their true self. What's there to be seen may be misperceived, denied or explained away. But it's visible.

  • what sort of a theory of performance is that... people ALWAYS reveal themselves? hardly, they ALWAYS wear a mask.

  • pyrrho, people always THINK they wear a mask.

  • You sound just like this self proclaimed "prophet" who once said he could tell me all about my inner self. He was so far off it wasn't even funny.

I remember once back when I was a moderator being told by someone they could tell I was posting under different accounts. I had one account, but he kept accusing everyone of being me. It was pathetic.

  • I'm not saying that everyone can understand what they're seeing in other people. On the other hand, not everyone can recognize themselves when others tell them what they're seeing. The camera obviously doesn't enforce objectivity in either direction.

...actually, this deserves a vlog. Probably never get to it though.

  • MB: I really want to comment on the drama but I can't. (I don't follow closely enough to have an informed opinion on the matter). What I can say is this: You are MetaBob. You are (forgive me) an older youtuber. The rest of us are kids. Unfortunately you are in the position of serving as a source of wisdom for us. Now rhetorically: is it wise to participate in drama? F**k anyone who tries to crack your account. Aside from that, let them go to hell. You're a better man. Let it be known.

  • Ignore the drama, friend.

  • clockwork, you have hit the painful nail on the head. I am being age-inappropriate. And all because certain quirks of TAA and hardcase pushed my buttons and tossed me back in time about thirty years.

  • I agree with clockwork. Nevertheless, I was promised a hardcase pownage and I demand closure.

  • BA, there can be no closure within the Octopus Overmind.

  • interesting.

  • TFG is an asshole who will block anyone who shows even the slightest hint of not agreeing with him. Nazi.

  • "1/3 done? how long does it take to fuckin pwn somebody?" You haven't listened to a thing I've said, have you?

"i'll probably be murdered by some muslim..." More likely one day you'll impulsively pitch yourself off the roof of some unfinished condo, headfirst into the pavement.

"and i'll respond with another video about what a pathetic, lonely, baldheaded mummy you are" Keep up the good work. Everyone is deeply impressed with your pwnage so far.

  • Words of wisdom. Thanks Bob.

  • Hey Bob. It actually seems like you try to be the father figure. And in general, that seems like a nice idea. I actually thought, "man, it'd be cool to talk about Alan Watts with Bob.. imagine if he was my dad.." However, you get angry/impatient when your not-officially-adopted children don't take your advice, and want to give up, it seems, quite easily. Watts wouldn't be so easily flustered.

  • I am so unqualified to be anybody's father figure. Or an Alan Watts.

  • Humbug. You need to meet more father's. You wouldn't beat the crap out of your kids or be so passive as to not exist; instead you'd always be trying to guide them appropiately as best as you could. But that's just my view..

  • Yeah, but I wouldn't be able to take care of them.

  • I'm not sure I understand your confidence in your lack of qualifications and abilities in this field.. or how you think one acquires them..

  • Trust me, I am not "provider" material. Must go to sleep now.

  • ThefriendlyGeek is full of Bullshit, a liar and Low life looser!!!!!!

  • Dude, it's like you say, these people are just playing out their anger and playing these things over and over again, doing this for the drama, there is no end to it. I applaud you for getting off of this atheism drama. Good luck, Bob.

  • You'll get no more attention from me, TFG. I made myself clear on that. You live to stir up shit and I sincerely hope (with all of my little black heart) that you will choke to death on your own venom sometime in the very near future.

  • Wow, yet another preachy let's-be-reasonable piece of anti-drama drama from lonelybob15. The validity of any point you make is undermined by your crass and manipulative presentation. The parallel you draw between myself and Brett Keane is not without truth, but the next time you talk in that low, contemplative, mournful voice on camera, you may want to ask yourself, "In what ways am I like Brett Keane?"

  • You and your inbred brother should stick to entertaining the peanut gallery. You have no business talking to civil people, go away please.

  • My inbred brother and I will talk to whomever we please. Be thankful we're just talking.

  • You'd last about 1 second in the real world, not even long enough to scream, "Please dont hurt me!".

  • Feel free to test that hypothesis whenever you like.

  • It's more fun to watch you self-destruct. Taking your little brother down the toilet with you is an added bonus. Your parents must be VERY proud, lol.

  • I dub thee TheAmazingArmpit. A shorter and wider version of HeadCase.

  • lol... I suppose you couldn't leave it to the civil people to say that, for obvious reasons.

  • AA,

In what ways am I like Brett Keane? The contemplative, mournful voice, yeah, sort of... though I wish I could talk that smoothly without having to search for words and losing my place. But that's about it. Overall, I am about as far from Brett Keane as you can get.

AA, I was serious about leaving you and fake to your own devices, if you'll return the favor. But let me ask you one last question. In your opinion, has anything I've ever said to you been a benefit to your life?

  • Saving souls is a tough gig. I'm glad you're prioritizing. You can be my big brother.I'm glad I met a Bob on YT. BTW, I still think Dr Pepper tastes yuk, but I appreciate the caffine thing.

  • Bob, some of the things that you said here are deeply personal. Couldn't you have sent him a pm or something? Make this a private video, maybe.

  • They may be "deeply personal," but they're not private. Everything I know about AA and fake comes from their own videos, posted freely by them in this public forum. I've never exchanged a PM with either of them, and I don't want to start now. Because, if I have any moral justification for jabbing them where it hurts, it's THEIR PUBLIC BEHAVIOR.

  • Whatever. There's always a first time, Bob. You could have made this video private. You really brought him low in front of everyone. That's just not right. As a person who lost her father relatively young, it really cut me to the core that you would use someone's "father issues" to bring them down. And I happen to like a lot of what you do... but this is wrong.

  • Interminablespirt, I wrote up a multipart answer to this (short version: yeah, it's not right, but...) but I'm going to delay posting it till tomorrow if at all.

Instead I asked TAA if he's up for a PM conversation. We'll see what happens.

  • Well, I hope it goes well for you both. But something tells me that it may be a little too late for that type of gesture. Maybe not. TJ's suprised me before.

  • Insightful as always. I like AA, but man if he's not a potential Brett Keane I don't know who is. I think he should maybe take some time to re-evaluate who he is and where he's going, because the irony of his dressing like BK to mock him wasn't lost on me, or others, I assume.

  • Bob, I leaped OUT of YT atheism/dramarama about three days ago and MAN is it liberating. Life is brighter.

  • Indeed

  • Bravo.

  • I agree. This drama shit has got to go.

  • Bob, as much as I enjoy your videos I wish you'd just get over all this stuff. You act as though you wish you didnt have to make these drama videos but it was you who got yourself embroiled in it all. What point does making more Fakesagan videos serve. We already know he's an asshole, why not leave it at that?

  • Interact! INTERACT!

    ...with us.

Frankly, a deeper exposé on Alan Watts is badly needed. Time? Circular? WTF?

  • "Exposé" on Alan Watts? ?!? You're not implying that... he too... was in the Websnarf conspiracy?!?

    Noooooo!!!

  • Dear sir,

I have been watching your videos, and you appear to be intelligent. Your videos about non-drama topics are very interesting (and sometimes very long). I would expect a person of your demeanor to be above this fray. I hope you will carry on with topics that interest you, and ignore these petty little turf wars.

    Sincerely,

    Bryan from Tulsa

  • Do you pay off YouTube for your fantastic video quality?

  • :-)

  • My boilerplate response to this oft-asked Q:

I don't have a webcam. I use my Canon GL2 camcorder, recording at 30 fps in NTSC DV (720x480 pixels). I do all my editing at that resolution, using Final Cut Pro. Then, before uploading, I downcovert to 320x240 MP4, .h264 compression, using VisualHub, which is great and you can buy off the web for $23 bucks.

  • PS: these days YouTube may not even be re-compressing .h264 compression. I don't know for sure, but lately my vids have been posting almost instantly after upload.

  • Thanks. As soon as I understand how to do all that and have something to say I'll try it. I can make some beautiful stuff here, but it always comes out of YT looking like crap.

  • We use the same camera. I feel dirty.

  • The same camera that shot your toilet paper video? Eeww, dirty is right.

BTW, I'm still hoping for an answer to the question I asked you below. (Has anything I've ever said to you been of benefit to you?)

Also, I've been asked why I don't PM you. And my reasons seem increasingly weak to me. If I PM'd you, do you think we could have a truly private conversation?

  • No, Bob, he'll just post it somewhere, thinking it proves whatever half-assed point he thinks he's making at the time.

  • I'm right here with you, my friend. Rational atheists seem to be hard to find around here, and tolerant ones even moreso.

  • What do you think of Pat condell?

  • Check out mooeypoo, mrmortonblogs. She's the most sincere and rational atheist I know besides websnarf and pdoeman (real-life-prominent atheists excluded).

  • Why not, NOT posting fakesagan 2? Why not stop making it? Why not just letting go of all this? Why not, not even answering these questions?

  • Ah but why not, not, NOT post fakesagan 2?

  • You have twisted my logic into a knot. I am not, not, not, NOT impressed.

  • I'm not, not, not, not, not, not, kind of sort of maybe impressed... I think...

  • This is from "Flowers from Algernon". Punctuate these sentences:

that that is is that that is not is not is it it is

  • ...that that is... is that? That is not. Is NOT, is it? IT IS!!!! BLAH!

Had to throw the "blah" in there for good measure.

  • KAPLA! -- literally means success, in Klingon.

  • That that is, is that that is not. Is not is IT? It is!

    Yum.

  • That that is, is. That that is not, is not. Is it? It is!

    Yum. Yum.

  • premed, Muaguana:

Are we back to Zeno's paradox?

    I'm not(1), not(2), ... , not(n) impressed. (n -> infinity)

  • i love your vlogs and hope that you'll be able to move on soon... take good care.

  • You're far too wise to be wasting your time on the knuckleheads here. The best thing you've done so far, IMHO, was suggest the athiests here check out Alan Watts. I watch your videos that are under 10 minutes long.

  • Yes, I plan a couple more Alan Watts vids, but they've been on hold for months waiting for the good vibes to return. Soon, I hope.

  • Completely serious: Have you ever thought of engaging in the practice of being people's missing father figures?

Ultimately, I don't think these people are worth this kind of time from you. They have not chosen to embrace adulthood or any path for getting there. At some point playing with children in the playground has to be seen as exactly that.

  • that, this, here, above HERE is THE and the final word on it all. Thanks Snarf!

  • Websnarf, you are a hateful little termite.

  • Websnarf, you duplicitous weasel! You still haven't done the vlog on Zeno's paradoxes that you promised.

I declare idiot jihad on you!

    ...er, sir.

  • Lol! I am such a lazy ex-overmind.

  • To quote my comment on your "What is infiity?" vid:

websnarf, PLEASE do your promised vid on Zeno's paradoxes. Specifically the arrow and the target. Because every solution that I've found on the web is not only beyond my skill set to judge, but not universally accepted. Or have I missed THE solution? And please explain at what scale common sense breaks down about having to go halfway before going the whole way.

  • google "infinite sums"... there is no paradox so well solved as Zeno's

it turns out if you break something in half and add the two pieces together, they add up to one... no matter how many times you do it.

It's proven mathematically with limits which allow us to take infinite sums.

  • pyrrho, my question about Zeno's "the arrow and the target" is less mathematical and more real-world. Clearly, before you can travel ten feet you have to travel five, and before that two and a half feet, and so on. My question is, at what scale does that logic break down? Is it at quantum scale, where certainty stops and probability kicks in? Or somewhere before that? Or am I missing something big and obvious up here in human scale?

  • metabob: zeno's paradox, the answer lies in calculus. Lines are not made of infinite many points... but can be "broken down" into infinite many pieces in theory... but note the role of infinity is different between the two. Instead of an "infinite number" of points "in" the line, you have an "ability" to break a line into two pieces, repeatedly, "as long as you want", and induce the end state where the pieces are "infinitesimal".

  • pyrrho: your answer on Zeno's paradox doesn't address my real-world question. Or if it does, I don't understand. Here's my question. For an object to travel, say, ten feet, it has to FIRST travel five feet, right? And that principle holds true over any distance and timeframe THAT WE CAN MEASURE, at least above the atomic level, right? Or no? If not, what am I missing? I'm asking about the nature of change over time. At what scale does Zeno's real-world observation break down?

  • You are using two different time scales to describe the observation: 1) The universal time scale which is perceived as linear. This time scale has a point T where the arrow hits its target. 2) A non-linear time scale where point T of the linear time scale is projected to infinity of the universal time scale, which implies that not all finite points of the universal time scale have a finite counterpart on the non-linear time scale.

  • correction: 2) A non-linear time scale where point T of the linear time scale is projected to infinity of the non-linear time scale, [...]

  • MetaBob,

I think your question relates to:

It the real world descrete or continuous?

But in the case of a bow and arrow, IMHO, I don't think it matters.

  • I don't think you get adulthood because of the fakesagan inclusion. He is fully aware of what he's doing... it's no more a sign of immaturity than say... enjoying paintball...

  • pyrrho, YT's comment system makes it really hard to follow threads. You should put who you're talking to in your posts.

I'll assume your talking to me here. When you say I don't "get" adulthood, do you mean I don't "understand" it? Well, re fakesagan, he definitely has levels of awareness, public and private levels, but I don't think he's fully aware. And I think what he's doing is no more a sign of immaturity than say... shooting pigeons for fun.

  • metabob: on adulthood

yeah, sorry about being sloppy, I was referring to websnarf and I meant "the status of adulthood"... I think HC is very mature in his conceptual framework... but enjoys a pugelists style, no different than enjoying ... um... Jerry Springer, a guilty pleasure at worst. In debate... it's even a role that someone has to fill, better than Springer, iow. imo.

  • as a single activity it does not demonstrate maturity, but it doesn't indicate immaturity if one is mature in the rest of their lives.

Hardcase has a very lucid and mature attitude ... and one of his accounts is meant to express it. I assume the entertainment value for him personally is greater in the fakesagan account, at least for now, and that explains what we see of him.

calm adults are only mature if they don't have a weakness for low wattage manipulations.

  • pyrrho, hardcase may imagine he has "a very lucid and mature attitude," but he's playing a mind game with himself. He's trying to prove to himself that his worst idea of life is true. He strikes me as a man teetering on the brink of suicidal depression.

But hey, I could be wrong. I remember on another thread you implied that you knew what's "really" going on with him. Well for Sagan's sake, don't be shy. We're way past playing fair here. But we are playing publicly.

  • I am fine with being public using public information, and I think we get only a view on their public persona, not some "deeper" reality.

In my not final opinion I would grant that HC has a very negative view of things over all, on the border between cynicim and nihilism. I think the clarity of his individualism and rejection of group thought patterns and the fact that the world, is, in fact, very screwed up, balance the cynical aspect leaving some very interesting ideas in HC's bag.

  • The change of perspectives in this video is quite fascincating (you pausing a video of you commenting on TAAs apology). I think most of your subscribers inside and outside of that dayroom can sympathize with your observations and your decision.

But man, are you building up expectations. I'm all on edge, against better judgment.

  • Yes, I could have just cut in the original clip from the earlier vlog. But I thought it would be cute to have a kind of Chinese nesting-doll effect.

Re building up expectations. Yeah I am, but it's a transient thrill. If I let it go, people will just forget about it. At this point I really don't want the drama, and if I post it fakesagan will go ape.

  • MetaBob,

truthfully, I had already forgotten about "FakeSagan 2" until you mentioned it.

  • I get the impression that you are making a documentary. I think you should make this a project for possible commercial release, since you've already done so much of the research.

I want to see fakesagan II if for no other reason than to see if it's a workable idea. Can't wait to see more of topics YOU want to tackle.

  • we're not all under 25. Some of us are grown up and don't want silly games and drama. It's all about subscribers silly, more views.....more revenue. THat is also Jerry Springer's moto.
