Dari is the older version of todays Farsi. We did spoke as Dari speaking people before but not anymore. If you notice they have words we don't even have in Farsi.

My mom comes from Kerman (a city in Iran) and my dad from Shiraz. Both have different words for the same things. Does that make them different languages? In New Found land (canada) people speak English with a weird accent that nobody can understand. But it's still English.
Parsi comes in different accents and dialects. The people in New Foundland, Canada, London, England and Texas, USA all speak English with different accents but all three are speaking ENGLISH!

I don't get why people keep fighting about Iran and Afghanistan. I'm Afghan and my best friend is Irani, and we both speak Farsi and we have a lot of cultural similarities. There is no such a thing as Dari!
You don't consider "Isfahani" a separate language as Farsi do you? Persian is Persian. In Afghanistan they have a different accent.
In the past, Afghan leaders promoted the use of the word "Dari" to create Afghan nationalism etc... and to separate the two countries.

Dari is not a separate language. It's a regional accent. It's like "Isfahani" or "shirazi." All these three are Persian.
My mom comes from Kerman (a city in Iran) and my dad from Shiraz. Both have different words for the same things. Does that make them different languages? In New Found land (canada) people speak English with a weird accent that nobody can understand. But it's still English.

Parsi comes in different accents and dialects. The people in New Foundland, Canada, London, England and Texas, USA all speak English with different accents but all three are speaking ENGLISH!

Pars is a province in southern Iran and at the time of the Greco=Persian wars our capital was in Pars.
