Another awesome video dude, i know my way around the Amiga OS, used 3.9 for a long time, but found it was alittle buggy and just not as good as it should have been. Concidering i just wanted to play old Amiga games anyway, i decided to stick with OS 3.5.
Good news for Amiga fans! A new REAL Commodore Amiga is in the works and will be available soon. Why settle for a wanna-be-Amiga by some fly by night operation when you can have the real thing from Commodore? For more info just visit commodoreusa d o t net!
I own several older Amigas, and used everything they ever built before selling off. The current incarnation of Amiga is a joke. I am running a Hexacore (12 hts) Intel with 12 gb of DDR, 200gb of SSD SATA3, dual Radeons with 2 gb each (xfire). The OS is loaded off of RAM-based SSD, which is as fast as most ROM systems. Performance is no longer an issue for almost anything I do. Boot is 12 seconds from cold. WHAT does Amiga offer me now? NOTHING, but 512mb ram..
Yes, you can buy both new and second-hand systems for AmigaOS 4. Explore the links in the description... and you can try finding some OS4 systems on ebay too :)

@richardmaudsley77 I'M very excited about natami. looks cool so far. emulators and amiga os just dont feel like commodore. they dont feel amiga. the natami team promises that sweet feeling. if its comes 2500-3000 euros max i'm BUYING IT. I still spend a few hours every month on my amiga 1200 as a hobbie. its a 1993 machine. it almost died 2 times but had it fixed. had to send it all the way to new zealand. absolutly no support here in greece although there is a strong community of amiga users.
almost 20 years have passed and i am still amazed by the power of workbench 3.1. by far the best os after the modern wonder of macos x. amiga just like linux is the proof that good programming and good architecture beats proccesor speed and ram and all this fancy tech stuff. imagine with todays proccesing power and ram what would workbench be like if commodore was still alive. macos x my ass.
@richardmaudsley77 commodre used to be the first to do stuff. not copy others. apple tries to do this. always trying new stuff. amiga was like that. the amiga is dead. i petty those like this dude in this video. I still use my a1200 8 mb ram and 500mb scsi disk. i love the machine. but i wont spent 10000 euros to make a machine thats immitates what pcs and macs do. back in the days macs and pc's immitated what i was doing with my amiga 1000. There was a dream called amiga. now its called macosx
Why everyone keeps the exposure of theil camera at "auto" setting and unlocked? Lock the exposure to right before burning a white shot with some black stripe (you amigans tell me that you don't know how to make a greyscale pattern!!!!), fix the focus adjust it and shoot then. You'll be stunned by the results.
comment by somene that used an amiga professionally.
(oh, there are Genlocks as well, even for the dblpal - dblntsc or RTG graphics!)
In a lot of ways, this is similar to my favorite OS, Puppy Linux. Puppy Linux also is about 100 MB, runs in ram, is very responsive, and you can download and install files to the ramdisk. Like in Amiga OS, if you don't like what you've done, just don't select "save to disk" when you shutdown. Otherwise, it saves your changes to the very same CD or DVD R that you booted the OS on. I definitely have to try out Amiga OS 4.1, as soon as I find a PPC computer to try it on!
'Different' PowerPC-machines that support AmigaOS 4.x Sam440,Sam460,Pegasos and PowerPC accelerated classic AGA Amigas. Theres AmigaOne x1000 coming soon too.
There's no AmigaOS for for the x86, but closes thing to this on a x86 might be AROS, they really try to get a true amiga touch in it.
at this point use linux is a good alternative to windows and cost nothing! Amiga for me is dead real amiga is untill the A4000 after they become Expansive PC!
@karadok666 me too i have an 2000 ,4000, and i love this 2 amazing machine, they never crash from 1993, contrarily my PC crashed and formated 2000 times <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 Amiga Love you for ever<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
@Jumpseri This thing is really cool i think. It is something like the already ready to order Firebee project (a TOS compatible Coldfire board) from the Atari scene.
@MustNotRead The whole Destop is a Xerox PARC thing. Apple got the license and others stole it from Apple. Yes - a right click on a desktop makes the difference - you are right :DDDDDD Huuuurayyyy - Commodore invented the right click on menus! Ok the Workbench was really cool but what the hell you are talking about stupid right click things? Do you really think that makes it a special style?
well nice machine. but its not an amiga mate. i'll stick to my wb 3.1 A1200 68020 with 8mb fast ram and 600mb hard disk. its got pc and mac part. the only thing amiga are some bit of the operating system. the amiga hardware arhitecture is gone. its a pc with a workbench like operating system. total waste of money in my opinion.
sucks that this os is ppc only, i really wanna try it out

fully equipped PC or mac cost 500 $
haha hhhhh
sigmageneral 2 years ago
Yes, that's called economies of scale.
There are very few Amigas sold now compared to PCs so they cost more to manufacturer and sell. It's a hobbyist PC and its users know that.
We'd love to see more people using it which would bring the cost down and give us more friends to talk to.
Ever used an Amiga? Now is a great time to come back to the community. It's still fun and a really enjoyable hobby alternative to Windows or OS X.

Would an apple monitor work with your machine? I thought it was the mini dvi cord.

the amigaone uses ATI Radeon cards, they have DVI outputs, you can get adaptors from mini dvi to standard DVI
