its the music business. artist royalty is usually 10-15%. I'm arguing that he does things that bother me, not about the music business. Its not getting ripped if everyone else is the whole reason you're name is out there. Indie music isn't about money, its about not having your music manipulated like this guy. you know nothing
how is his music manipulated if he recorded all of it on his own? maybe you should look into chris drew more. he did everything honestly and promoted himself like crazy on purevolume and myspace because he didn't have the luxury of people to do it for him. and you should look into your research. signed artists don't even make 10% of their sales. unsigned artists have COMPLETE control and make the majority of their sales money. it's not about money, it's about not getting ripped.

I only like several songs. He doesn't have complete control. trust me. There's a lot more people behind the scenes in music that need to get paid, contrary to what you might think. If someone releases cds, odds are its through a record company, with the help of promoters.
dude... im completely unsigned myself, and i have my music on itunes, napster, and amazon as well as all the international itunes stores and i didn't pay all kinds of "behind the scenes people". he DOES have complete control of where his music is distributed and what he records and everything that gets put out i don't know why that's so hard for you to accept. he hired booking to help him get gigs, promoted on his own, distributed on his own. just the facts man.

and the plain fact is that NONE of his albums were released on a label. this EP was released by himself. he recorded it at engaged audio in springfield, missouri with a 24 year old engineer, real informal.

how is his music manipulated if he recorded all of it on his own? maybe you should look into chris drew more. he did everything honestly and promoted himself like crazy on purevolume and myspace because he didn't have the luxury of people to do it for him. and you should look into your research. signed artists don't even make 10% of their sales. unsigned artists have COMPLETE control and make the majority of their sales money. it's not about money, it's about not getting ripped.

if his music was recorded on his own, then thats exactly why i want to hit him in his face. Its just so gay. I like his music, but a lot of it is embarassing for me to say I listen to. I only like several songs. He doesn't have complete control. trust me. There's a lot more people behind the scenes in music that need to get paid, contrary to what you might think. If someone releases cds, odds are its through a record company, with the help of promoters.

dude... im completely unsigned myself, and i have my music on itunes, napster, and amazon as well as all the international itunes stores and i didn't pay all kinds of "behind the scenes people". he DOES have complete control of where his music is distributed and what he records and everything that gets put out i don't know why that's so hard for you to accept. he hired booking to help him get gigs, promoted on his own, distributed on his own. just the facts man.

he was on a record label. once you're on a record label, all the stuff I said is true. take a media studies class. so what if he's unsigned now. you know what? yeah im jealous of him totally. i wish i could be him. you're right. now don't even reply

dude, look into chris drew a little more and the approach he took. and look at secondhand serenade and his period of being unsigned when he made $20,000 a month selling music off of tunecore and merchandise. you think your media studies class gives you credibility but clearly you have no clue.

and the plain fact is that NONE of his albums were released on a label. this EP was released by himself. he recorded it at engaged audio in springfield, missouri with a 24 year old engineer, real informal.
