That bike wont wheelie with Big Barney on it! It's wonderful that Germany runs 1/4 miles, on Harley, and other exotica. I didn't expect, in the 1960's, that American hot rodding would catch on it Europe. There's hope for the world.
@neomuttley No it's a V shape parrallel twin (V4). and its not more powerful or has more potential than any in line 6 engine. It's only the fact that the engine is a lot older than the busa's. Thats actually why those people (mechanics) who know much much more than we do use this engine insteed. The inline 6 can produce dramatically more power with a boost.
I'm sorry my friend, but you're mistaken. Feel free to look up basic specs on the "net. As for engine building? I've ridden & wrenched for 27 years. My guess is they are simply running what they brung. In other words, they're working w/what they've got. Nothing wrong w/that. I've certainly had some great times while saving some cash in the effort.
@neomuttley well probably the specs I have checked in the past are way off, since right now after looking it up specifically I find out it's an In line 4 engine with 1300cc. Even like this the two more cylinders that the cbx engine has ...I think they are critical to this project since the effort goes all up to the high boost and turbo this engine and the higher rpm they can support.
@neomuttley Anyway thanks for the heads up since I would still be thinkin this is a V4 engine...last but not least... why busa instead of a ZZR1400 engine? most powerful nowadays in production :)
The 'Busa has been out for a long time. There has been a lot of development done by the real horse power gurus. Go fast parts & knowledge are readily available for the Busa. Modern Kawis aren't known for cutting edge performance. They may SAY they make so much power. If they really do? It's doubtful they'll do so as reliably & trouble-free as the Busa.
@neomuttley it's not a few busas that are out there with turbo and supercharged kits ..you right. Kawas are well known for edge performance (see GPZ900) but yeah its doubtful ...
@neomuttley In conclusion, the busa's might have costed way more or it's just as you said. that was what came up to them! I think in my humble opinion that all the project is up due to the 6 cylinder engine which is really rare and can be hell of an engine with some tweaks!
We would never now unless both engines were set as this one! (a busa's and this one)
Why would a fat bloke like this ride a drag bike? Less pies makes for faster times. Completely defeats the point. Cannot fault the bike though - very impressive.
@anguspauline Because he likes going fast. He is fat NOW and wants to go ZOOM now. Later he can get skinny and faster. In this sport, it's all about now.
I lost 80 pounds one winter, and my triumph 650 gas dragster went EIGHT TENTHS of a second quicker...and 9 mph faster.
But as a fat guy that fall, I won Atco in D/Gas weighing 240 lbs and the cycle weighing 225,!!!
Six fucking cylinders to move only 80 kilograms of mankind to 375 kilometers in only eight or nine sekunds - that so dam cool...like ThorBeer from the litle mother of dreams land at the top of Europa.
I think his jacket is too small, LOL

Why would someone invest the time effort & cash in an old CBX mill? Buy a 'Busa mill in a crate, & have at it :-).

@neomuttley cause its an IN LINEEEE SIX cylinder motor. insteed of v4...
SqiroS22 4 months ago
@SqiroS22,
The Busa is an inline 4 (?). More to the point. The power making potential is higher and easier w/the Busa.

That's how we used to do it in 1980.
80psi turbo 250hp
10" slick / wheelie bar
Air shifter
30 yrs later, the mark left is still felt.
Cheers
Philscbx 1 year ago
@Philscbx real 80 psi just for 250 hp that is impossible ! 1.8 liter engine with 80psi got over 1400 hp
sporsterchop 1 year ago
@Philscbx 4. 5 bar of boost really . with the 2.6 liter skyline engine only 30 psi push you over 700 hp
sporsterchop 1 year ago
@sporsterchop
You'd have to know the engine specs diff.
These motors only have 53mm stroke. Stock, 105hp @9000 rpm.
Our air shifter clicked off @ 11,500rpm. I can't tell what's used here from the sound.
Keeping these motors in one piece in 15-20psi steps is what's almost impossible.
This guy here would say the same.
When the head blew off, it bent the frame. I noticed when putting the engine back in the 5th time.
The technology from 80's to now in turbo is night & day at this pressure.

What was the time and speed of this run?
Could you put the speed in both Km/h and Mph?
That was a good run.
