George doesnt stand up to these guys because he made 50 times the money ritchie and paul have together, thus he didnt play as much to improve throughout the years! What a great jam!
@Money4Nthn Thats not true. Its a well known fact that George was STILL taking lesson all through Dokken's popularity and past that. He's never stopped training
No homo, but when I saw Paul Gilbert and George Lynch on the same stage, I got a lil' chub. Then when they played some Pat Travers, I had a full-on tantric orgasm.
What a great assembly of players. Too bad there aren't any players since 1990 that can play this. The guitar as a solo instrument died when the Seattle 4 (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden) took over. It's nice to see these guys still got it. Paul Gilbert is probably the most technically accurate, guess that happens when you teach at the guitar institute of technology, but all three of these are great players with their own spot in rock music history
@Richaag Maybe through the 90's and some of last decade that statement held true but all you have to do is search here on Youtube theres plenty of talented instrumentalists both men and women and kids that have taken up the guitar more seriously than the past 2 decades. Also one other guitarist thats good that came out of the 90's is that Guthrie Govan guy (started 1991)
Well, in this video, I think Paul Gilbert and Richie Kotzen take the cake. George is definitely original, and you can obviously hear it and it makes the solos interesting, but he has a ways to go when it comes to jamming with others. The man is practically playing a solo through out the whole song. It clashes quite a bit.
But we all can agree that this is quite a sight... three fantastic guitarists on one stage.
Richie is one of my favourite guitarist in the world.I think that I'm very happy because I can watch him be with the great guitarists Paul and George!
@2patero I've been a luthier since I graduated HS in '80. I worked in a fantastic NYC shop. Many pros stopped in. I was very fortunate to get a chance to see them play up close for a half hour after a repair was completed. I always kept a cool amp in my shop. I was also a touring guitar tech. Had some great experiences. I found George to be very nice, a good looking guy, but he's a sun worshiper & his skin shows it. He can easily pick up girls half his age if he wanted to.
Kotzen is not doing his best here. I think he's not that familiar with the song. After the first solo he looked kinda puzzled. Gilbert had the most fun as usual. Lynch had a few exotic licks going on, but I didn't really enjoy his performance either.
@david3keenan Hey I Love watching some of the Greats and Legends all get on Stage and Play together,I Really Do.... But Come on Man you can't sit there and Write to everyone on here and say you have Never Siad this Guitar Player is Much better thsn this One.... Please !!!!! That's just Part of Life wanting to be the BESTTTTTT"" Because the Man who has the Most in all walks of Life is the BEST""" in many peoples eyes. Not Neccesarily Mine.. But Just about in Majority of the World.
Ritchie & Gilbert,Just sound to much like they play by the Book,LYNCH IS ALL about Creativity. They all are Great Musicians. But Overall LYNCH IS A LEGEND & Has Over a 40 year career Span of being a Bad Ass Guitarist,All the Rest still have many years to Catch up to George,He was Rippin and Kicking ASS,When Kotzen was shittin yellow..So to Speak
@chadmbedwell Misinformation I see... Richie played with Vertú on a jazz album, With Forty Deuce on an almost nu metal album, with Greg Howe on two fusion albums, with Poison on a funk/glam/groove album, with Mr Big on a AOR album... As a soloist, he has a fusion album, a blues album, an acoustic album, a shred album, a blues oriented instrumental album, a couple of fusion songs, an Anime Soundtrack album, some 70's rock oriented albums... and he's 41 YO....
@chadmbedwell Creativity??? WTF are you talking about? George Lyinch is clearly a legend, but beeing born 30 years later doesn't make you less creative or innovative.
@vicenteroma Your right It Doesnt', But those Like George that's been at it for years, He Has Wisdom and Knowledge that just about surpasses all understanding on Guitar, and he's a perfect example to look at and see from his earlier Days to Now, How Much more he knows, All I know Im 37 been playing 26yrs. and I am Happy where I am at,There's Still much To Learn always,But When you get 57yrs Old Man You are just Full of Knowledge and Wisdom,If your not a Dumbass.. LOL
@chadmbedwell yes i mean beyond the technics aspect where maybe kotzen and gilbert are in another league the phrasing...of lynch...is there is like he play somethins that comes out of the experience and another way to understand the guitar...the amazing of this...is...diference make our life rich...and of course the life of the players there i mean im sure all of them take something of the other after that...i could imagine kotzen talking about george phrasings .
@chadmbedwell continue... or paul talking about the bluesy feel of kotzen... and you know...the list..goin on...i met kotzen once and we were talking like 20 minutes about other players like govan bumblefoot pg...and he enjoy everything...and even us ......i mean all the people have favorites...but is amazing enjoy of all the dudes...if you love music...so good coment...man...and excuse the long answer.
@Daveybassify Misinformation I see... @blackblurable That particular PG is prob my favorite..not counting the fireman or anything..but you gotta admit both kotzens artist model strat and tele are true beauties. and thumbs up for sound versatility!
Swap Lynch for Vai and then you've got 3 world class guitar players. As much as I love Paul I still admire RK a lot more as a musician, he just seems to have everything including a fuckin awesome voice.
Can't really say much about Lynch apart from he seems boring and scared shitless of Gilbert and Mr.K.
@askwho69 one thing to say .. POOR LYNCH.. i understand your point but it makes no sense to the context..
Kerry king is a good guitar player..... FOR SLAYER.. maybe lynch is the same for dokken or old school heavy metal... but in this context i feel pity for him.. he cannot "reply" one single lick.. he always do the same thing with tapping and no sense shred... im not a hater or something just being objective,,He said in one interview gps like PG are another league not mine..
wow justlike george said in an interview "i can't just jam". he's right bar bands can do better after each change they all lost it at the near end even the drummers lost it...iam going home on this one boys un pro
George Lynch should've played the strat and Ritchie Kotzen should've played the telecaster like he usually does...Lynch uses whammy which the strat has and Kotzen doesn't even use whammy these days. what the hell were they thinking lol
I've never really been a huge Kotzen fan, Lynch's technique and tone used to sound a hell of a lot better when he played with Dokken. Now, he's just an adverage guitar player, with a huge ego, resting on his past reputation. Paul Gilbert ,on the other hand, just sits back in this clip, and lets the other two be full of themselves, knowing he could wipe the floor with both of them. Hillarious!!!
Interesting opinion. The world would be boring if we all sounded the same. I doubt Lynch has a huge ego, always has been a pleasure to speak with, and I have seen him go out of his way to take care of his fans.
Much respect for Gilbert as I believe we both probably grew up listening to him. What a treat to see him perform with Racer X last year at NAMM.
The secret weapon in the video is Richie. He is one of the last guitar hero's. Hard to find talent like this thesedays
thank you so much guys for sharing your powers...this is..history..magnificent..!guitar gods....but juz for fun and the winner is.......paul golden gilbert!

@askwho69 It's kind of just the chemistry between the players why people are saying this. Lynch didn't seem to click as well with this group.

George Lynch should've played the strat and Ritchie Kotzen should've played the telecaster like he usually does...Lynch uses whammy which the strat has and Kotzen doesn't even use whammy these days. what the hell were they thinking lol

Richie Kotzen is the definite leader here.

@scottkernperry I doubt Lynch is just an average player, that's like saying EVH is an average guitar player too
