  • I had one to and mines did the samething no more gms for me

  • mine caught on fire too but i happen to had JUST got out from driving (we made a pit stop . we were on vacation) and got under the hood to make sure everything still looked ok (call me paranoid but i always do it) AND IT PAID OFF! i actually SEEN my engine catch fire... and i put it out with 2 COKES! haha and on down the road i went scared the shit out of me though....

  • im worried about my car wanting to kill me now i have the 2001 grand prix gt

  • This same thing happened to me, though it was kind of funny because about three months after it had happened I got the letter warning that there was the possibility of engine fires (Really?!). By the time mine was put out the tires had fuzed to the asphalt. However, it was a great car before it decided to burn...

  • I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix gt and I just got the "09047 Engine Compartment Fire Campaign Recall Completed Per GM" recalled fix and I hope it doesn't do it to me.

  • @simsfan2183 - there is another one of these on here... some guy had just had his recall done and the car caught fire a month later! So much for that. Good luck!

  • same happened to our car. that was the familys favorite car. it blew the doors off our camaro XD . it sucks tho... i miss it.

  • is that supposed to happen?

  • Cant wait till we all just go to electric cars ....

  • RIP

  • Most likely the problem is Fuel injector o-rings or the o-rings inside the connectors where the fuel rail connects to the plastic fuel line. I changed mine and they were so dry rotted. I noticed gas leaking from them too before I changed them.

  • injector o-rings?

  • @VivaLaBamEpisodes high pressure injectors use o-rings to seal them to the fuel rail

  • The GDP models do this my mothers 2 door fully loaded one burnt in the parking lot 2 weeks after we gave 6,500$ for it payed in full and now i look at it and cry

  • @TJ46706 i would too, i take out my battery so it doesn't happen, it has to be an electric spark.

  • This happened to my friend's Grand Prix too! He parked it at work and it caught on fire in the parking lot. It was totaled.

I just filmed a Grand Prix engine catching on fire today actually. Type in "Grand Prix fire Windsor" to see it.

  • lol like how no one moved the car next to it... lol its charred too

  • hondas are shit there all ugly and slow s2000 are just gay tell ur husband to get a real car stop bein such a puss u know wat they say hondas are like tampons every pussy has one

  • damn right. american and european. fuck jap

  • dude how can u stand to watch that let alone video tape it?

  • Probably caused by the recall they have on the car with the Exhaust manifold and something about oil catching fire.

  • have fun replacing the transmission on your honda accord...$3000 right off the bad. not to mention hondas look like shit

  • No, Hondas do not look like shit....my husbands S2000 looks good and drives amazing. Hondas are very reliable. My crappy Grand prix GTP has not been.

  • anything but an s2000 does...but thats a tiny and really expensive car. btw, cant u understand that you get what you paid for?? how much was the s2000, 30 grand? your comparing apples and oranges lady

  • hondas are good my sister is an original owner of a 2002 accord ex but dont go dissin on grand prix my family owns 97 98 99 and 2000 gtp nothing wrong were still the original owner no transmission or engine problems and one of those we use for racing and hondas looks=0 grand prix=10 what other car has hud and black leather accord didn't even come with black leather back then

  • i beat the shit out of my 1998 gtp everyday and i have 121,000miles either you just got 1)a mess up from the fatory 2)the person before you didn't take care of it 3)u didn't take care of it (change the spark plugs every 12k, change the oil, flush the coolant system, and NEVER PUT ANYTHING LESS THEN 91-93octane gas in it u or the guy b4 messed up on the gas and your an idot if you spent 8g's in repairs you could not only get a new motor but also a new tranny put in and still have $3000 left

  • ID GO WITH NUMBER 2

  • HONDAS SUCK

  • whatever you say, you're the man.

  • @RYNORICHIE1 that was not a honda

  • no shit.....IF U CAN READ I WAS COMMENTING ON SOME 1 ELSE TALKING ABOUT HONDAS

  • My bad didn't see It.

  • @jcobaltss2005 it's not a honda, it's a piece of shit pontiac, honda's arn't shit nor do they look like, i drive a prelude vtec

  • I had a '97 Grand Prix that I drove over 100K miles. Spent $0.00 in repairs, nothing ever broke. My wife has an '06 Grand Am - same thing, not a single problem. I would NEVER consider a Honda under ANY circumstances.

  • theres no such thing as a '06 grand am, FYI, they stopped making them in '05, you mean G6 i think

  • Sorry, I meant an '03 Grand Am. Been absolutely flawless.

  • THATS THE TRUTH

  • yeah, I have a 2001 GTP and it would smoke a lot. Notice after braking hard or at stop lights it would happen or after parking. Started about 2006 and in summer 2008 I got the recall and my husband and i took it in and had it "fixed". Problem went away for 4 months but just now it's just started smoking again on me. Smoke came out from under the hood after I parked the other day.

I think I will get a fire extinguisher just incase :)

  • its your supercharger.

  • Why is it the super charger? Why would it smoke like this? I thought it was from oil leaking out of the valve cover gasket from braking..at least this is what the recall said it's from.

  • @Bengal1971 that is what it's from. both supercharged 3.8's and naturally aspirated 3.8's had it recalled, it's not from the supercharger, it's a faulty gasket that causes oil to drip onto the exhaust manifolds, igniting it.

  • @mousehunter311

he is right ... the recall on the top of my fridge from GM from 3 years ago says it. My regal is long gone and i still get the recall notices about every 2 months

  • owned

  • Mine just went up in flames three days ago. I got video of it and posted it to you tube as well. The video title is GOOD EXCUSE FOR BEING LATE FOR WORK part 1 and part 2. I never got a recall letter for mine. only found out it was an issue after, when I googled it.

  • so you record it and not call teh fire deptment?

  • Upon hard braking oil is rushed to the front valve cover where it leaks between the valve cover and gasket, approximately 15min after parking the oil tends to drip onto the front manifold and ignites into a fire. Recall is approximately 207,542 vehicles, it appears to be 1 in 1000 cars have the issue, total cars destroyed to date is 267 and total structures damaged 17. This is only on GTP's though

  • and it's complete bullshit! GM sent that recall out and cars are still catching fire after they have been "fixed"

  • noway it happend after a recall b/c the gasket is replaced with a matel one you'd have a very hard time making a matel gasket crap out on a stock gtp maybe if ur pushing 400hp but not 200wheel horses(240hp to the crank) most cars have bad head gaskets GM honda's nissans & fords but it's mostly the lower end models in all these car makers u get what u pay 4 it's just that a few of the cars have there spark plugs in a bad spot, when the gasket goes ur car lights up ford explorer lights up 2
