  • My comment was toward the lower comments

  • I don't see why people spending hundreds on crappy scopes, go to Walmart and they have a 3x9x32 for 40 bucks

  • i have a 3x32 scope on my 22 and i find its good on the 22 but i also dont shoot long distances i just shoot the odd raccon or skunk that rips up the garbage and i only paid 50 dollars for it

  • Weavers are very nice...I totally agree. I wish it came in a 36m or 40M OD...should be a bit brighter in low light. Your opinion on an adjustable objective is a spot on. Do you like the Nikon 3-9 rimfire? I have not worked with it, but would value your opinion Also, not that it matters...Leupold is pronounced lou pold.....not lee a pold...trust me on that one.

  • does it come with rings ?

  • lol this is a $230 scope! that cost double what my savage .22 cost...thanks but no thanks ill stick with a below $100 scope! lol

  • you live in virginia

  • I have a Ruger 10/22 dumped in roughly 550+ and i'm trying to get the Tasco 2.5x10 mounted and I cannot do it. Got Weaver scope mounts because I know Weaver is quality like you said, this is making me RATHER F'N MAD!....I love 22's n I thought this project was final and I can't mount the scope..., pretty sad I know

  • I have the same scope, but when I look at the butler creek website the don't have caps for 32? Can you pleaes help and let me know what size I need for the eye piece as well as the objective piece?

  • Just checked, the RV9 is almost 75-100 bucks more than the RV7 only difference is a little less magnification power and smaller objective, but its still plenty enough for a .22 for target, plinking, or especially hunting.

  • @SonofLiberty1990

I redact some of my previous statement, the objective is not parallax adjustable

  • The serial number on my dad's 10/22 dates it to 1973!

  • thanks for the video !

I wander what does it mean by 'a .22 scope'

is this scope only designed for rifle with light recoil ?

    thanks !

  • you dont say 3x9, its 3-9x the diameter of the objective, no offense.

  • @schablone35

3-9x40 for example, (3-9 is the magnification, 40 is the diameter)

  • @SonofLiberty1990 yeah i know that what are you saying

  • when are you gonna do a marlin 795 video??

  • I would say the weaver rv7 is a better buy than the rv9. save $100 its not worth the price difference. I love my RV7 and usually stay zoomed all the way out.

  • I was sitting here with my Marlin 795, looking for a good scope, and came to you... I lol'd when I saw a 795 sitting there.

  • Nutn, do you remember the model number for those scope lens covers from Butler creek?

  • i jest got a tasco .22 scope. its a 3-9x32. if you or veri have used it what would you say about that optical sight?

  • Sorry I put an extra "it" back there):

  • Don't buy it unless it it's a Leupold. Nice try though(:

  • were do you get the scope rings and do they make the rv9 any more i cant find it. i like the rv7 to but i cant find the scope rings.

  • hey veri can you please tell nutn that i just got my 1st .22 bolt action rifle, havent shot it yet because i havent went to the range with my dad yet, anyway i want a scope on it after awhile and my dad says he might give me his 30-6 scope, is that a good idea for a .22? im relatively new to guns besides like air guns so thanks for the help have a good day and tell nutn i said thanks

  • @kevman994 Kev, sorry I just saw this comment...days after you posted it. I'll ask Nutn and get back to you. -- Veri

  • @kevman994 it just depends with how much u like it or wat ur comforatable with it

  • Nice Scopes!

Is it possible to mount a Simmons 3x9x50 scope to a 10/22 Carbine? If so, which rings do I need to purchase to mount the 50mm?

    Thanks for posting!

    John

  • This video explains why Midway is always sold out of this scope. LOL. The Leupold version is $170 more.

  • i want to buy a scope, i have a rouger explorer, the question would be, i saw a tasco 3-9 x 32, is this a desent scope, also a tasco 4x 30, i have a rabge of 30 bucks, whats best??

  • BSA on my 17hmr is very disappointing. Pay the extra bucks get a quality scope.

  • hi veri or nutnfancy, can i use the weaver rv9 (or other rimfire scope) on a .223 ar15 centerfire rifle? is the recoil too much? does anyone else have experience mounting rimfire scopes on an ar15?

  • @ucbonobo Nutn says, "absolutely would be ok..great scope but adj obj adds complexity...recommend Weaver or Redfield 2x7". Hope that helps. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Have a new Redfield Revolution 2-7x33 on my 10/22 and have it configured so it just pops off and on my Mark 3. 5 shots in a nickel at 100 yards.

  • @nutnfancy Thanks, Veri, I had the same question... TNP is a tremendous help to all us newbies

  • @DuckDodgers2400 I'm so glad he could help! =) -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy I just started familiarizing myself with firearms, having never even fired one until early this year. The state I live in is not exactly gun-friendly, and the gun store guys don't always seem to want to take the time to explain things to a beginner... I've learned more from nutn than from all my local gun shops and the gun owners I know combined. Nutnfancy has been indispensable in getting me started on the way to becoming a capable firearms user. What he's doing is really important.

  • @nutnfancy Everything I need to know is right here on YT... As Hickok45 would say, "Life is Good!" :)

  • Hey Veri,

Would you be able to check with Nutn what is the model numbers of the Butler Creek end caps he is running? I am trying to order a set for my RV9 online & the sizes are very close. I think I need a Eye Size 9 & Obj Size 23. They dont appear to be available in stores here in Australia.

  • Nutn, you should do a tabletop review of the Marlin 795. I have one and love it, and I think others should be able to see it so they could decide whether they want it or not.

  • I have a hard time justifying putting a $200 scope on my Marlin 795. I only paid $100 after the rebate for the gun. That's just my opinion. Subject to change, lol, after watching this video.

  • @glynn72 "I only paid $100 after the rebate for the gun"

Yeah, well that gun should be worth $300. I have a 795. One hell of a little rifle. But, I do agree with $200 being a little much. An air rifle scope should be sufficient for a .22

  • Mine just arrived here in Australia, thanks nutn, awesome scope.

  • Hey Nutn just ordered myself an RV9, cant wait to mount it on my .22 WMR, awesome review, thanks & keep up your awesome work, love it.

  • Chipmunk is the legend of guns i got one from my great great great grandpa lol it's like dinasour old

  • Hi, how well do you know Ruger Black Hawk?

  • I bought an old Reaver scope from an antique shop just for show. only thing is that im trying to find out which scope it is and how old it is. its about 1 1/3x longer than that scope and has the same diameter on both ends of the scope. the adjustments (turn knobs)screw off and under the screw is the actual adjustment knob. It has a black steel look and has J4 on it. I have seen J4 scopes on google but they dont match.

  • that god the gay music ended.

  • try a center point a good scope. better thin my leupold. $50.00 at wal-mart for a .22 cal.

  • Curious, how does the Weaver 2.5-7x28 compare with a Vortex Crossfire 2-7x32mm? Both offer a lifetime warranty. Any opinions?

  • wat was the little red thing on the top of eye piece on the ruger 10/22

  • Marlin is having a nice 2010 Spring Rebate on Marlin 795. $25 cash back.

Might have to pick one up, throw a scope on it and go plinking!

    Nice vid nutn.

  • hey, thanks again for the videos...

We just got another model 60 Marlin, and a Ruger 10/22....

I got a Tasco 3-9x40 Bucksight scope, and Weaver high mount see-through rings... with the 40mm on there you can still use the irons pretty easy...

scope and rings are about $42.00 total...

I'll let you know how it shoots...

any tips on mounting and sighting???

  • That looks like a little .22 Cricket. Please correct me if im wrong but that looks like a cricket

  • it is. he has reviews on it.

  • A Marlin 795! Just said you should do a tabletop review on them in your other video.

  • look at nikko stirling, aLOT of value for money.

  • why such a small objective??

  • hey man i have a question maybe you can help me out i have a hunting rifle chambered in 270 it came with a scope but i need more magnification what do you recommend thanks

  • Awsome pic of u fishin nutn! so fun man : )

  • its crickit not chipmunck lol

  • @blake0862 um actually, this is a chipmunk rifle made by that same brand.

  • @blake0862 chipmunk is its original name, had one when i was little

  • I dont know why but every time i try to commit on your channel [nutnfancy] it does not work o well.I am looking for a semi 22 rifle.I was thinking on geting a marlin papoose. But people are telling me to get a 10\22.but then i like the Marlin 795. Wich one should i buy.answer at my channel

  • if you havent bought your gun yet you should go with a 10/22 i bought mine 2 weeks ago and its fun as hell its not to picky on what ammo u use hope this helps

  • hey nutn... i have been watching your vids for a while now(great vids by the way) but what i am really waiting for is a good scope review!!! i mean other that .22 of course maybe a 3x9 meant for something a little bit bigger.. .270 or .308

  • is it alright to put a 22 scope on an AR or would there be a better option? keeping costs low though

  • where could i get a scope like that??

i see it tells you a range adjustment

mine is blind adjusting it sucks

i also want one with an adjustable zoom

  • I think my most impressive achievement for me was making 3 250 yard shots with my friend's .22 LR at 8:30 pm, when it was dark!!Although I'm sure many other people can make this shot and and probably at farther distances.

  • lose the music

  • remington 581 .22

    simmons 3-9x32

hit a bottle cap at 40 yards

  • HI , I just purchased .22 rifle savage arms 64 f xp w./ tasco scope 4x 15 and i tried to aimed on target and it won'y hit on " bulls eye" . I just learned that my scope is about $12- $14 is it becuase my scope's too cheap ? Do I need to buy a better scope and get 4x34 ? Or Do I need to adjust the scope ?

  • Dude if your scope only cost $14 the only thing its good for is a paperweight, If moneys a real problem look at nikko sterling nighteater, they're probably the best of the cheap and nasty scopes. Other wise try second hand sometimes you can get a real bargain.

  • Just got my Ruger 10/22. I love it, all exept that it doesn't have a last shot bolt hold-open.

  • volquartsen makes a kit that will fix that.... thats what i put on my ruger

  • hey i am 13 and my dad and i are new to guns. I just got enough money for a ruger 10/22 and went with my dad and bought it. We need a scope for this rifle and our looking for a scope $100-$150 with taget knobs and a reticle different than a standard duplex looking reticle. The scope that we are looking at is the BSA 6-24x44 Platinum Target Riflescope. I am wondering if you could pull of a shot with it at 50-100yds with accuracy to hit a crow size target. What mounts do you have on the rv9.thanks

  • At 50 yards you should easily be able to hit a squirrel and at 100 yards your groups would open up a bit but you could still hit a crow. Test with different ammo to see what works best in your gun.

  • He got a check in the mail from Weaver Optics the following day.

  • Isn't that Single shot rifle a Crickett Nutn?

  • Yes

  • i dont shoot .22's but i shoot with airsoft sniper rifles. i ave a question for the .22ers out there! whats the dif between a regular firearms scope and a .22's scope?

    thx :)

  • the difference is in the reticle and adjustments...for a big 30 caliber gun the range of reticles and adjusments would be different then a 22 scope..but for airsoft purposes use a 22 scope or a pellet gun scope

  • .22 rifles are so coools!!!!!!!!

  • I just got a nikkon prostaff 4x32 scope for my 10/22, is it a decent .22 scope?

  • Nice gun the Ruger10/22. Now, if you think you should be able to buy .own or give that gun away oneday to your son or grandson. I hope you $upport a pro gun group like NRA-ILA, GOA, JPFO etc. We are up against some real traitors in the government and BOB Rush (former racist black panther convicted felon) has proposed Bill HR45. This law will make your ruger illegal, and will be the harshest Nazi like gun law in US history. Call-write your Reps..NO to HR45!

  • uhhh maybe take a look at his other videos... and i think that our current government is doing a whole lot better than the bush administration... at least in other areas other than gun.. i also agree they are being harsh in that respect but bush put us in such a bind economically that i think we needed change... we would have died as a country with another Bush

  • .22 rifles I mean

  • I'm leaning toward the Ruger .22 because I can't find high cap mags for the Marlin. I am I wrong, or just looking in the wrong place?

  • There real arent any hi cap magazines for the marlin guns but just buy a couple extra mags there about $25 at midwayusa, just my opinion i see ruger 10/22 as project rifles that if u put 100-300 extra dollars into it, it will make a fine rifle.

  • yeah man, your not going to be able to do much of anything with a marlin .22, really there isn't any other gun that you can customize (that I know of) other than the 10/22

  • my first gun is a ruger 10/22 there awsome

  • iv got a 3-9x40 south46 scope with a commo finish to it. but im havign trouble finding matching attachment brackets

  • thats what paint is for

  • Do you plan on reviewing the Marlin 795?

  • my first scope was for a quicksilver bb gun, and I remember how awesome it was.

I also remember my first time shooting a cricket .22 and getting my first ruger 10/22. totally awesome

  • I have a Marlin 795, and the scope I have on it is the Daisy Powerline 3-9X32(aka Model 811 3-9 x 32 Winchester Scope). It normally cost 50$, but I got it on sale during Black Friday for 19$. It's just as good as the RV9; it just doesn't have an adjustable objective, but I haven't had any focus problems with it.

  • I'm a value buyer to but i'm also a careful buyer.

  • great vid! I have the Marlin myself, and I love it. Still need to add a scope though.

  • right of passage for guys our age Ruger 10/22, I still have mine and will NEVER modify it, though my son's is worth more than 3X mine is without optics

  • Thanks for another great review Nutn. When saying 3-9 x 32, you said "3 by 9 by 32", back when I was in the optical industry we used to say "3 to 9 by 32" for that optical configuration. I know this is a minor detail but saying "3 to 9" more correctly describes the specification as being a range (low to high) of magnification. Thanks again.

  • Nutnfancy - just a small point : the LEUPOLD scopes are pronounced "LOO-pold", not "LEO-pold".

Just thought I'd mention it .... good review of scopes, & I agree about the need for Adj. Obj.

  • hey, could u do a review of the

gerber lmf II? its supposed to be a great knife... 3/16 inch thick, sweet sheath, and i just want to see what you think of it.

  • Nutn' youve been getting a bit sentimental lately.

  • I've got the 4x version of that old Bushnell 22 scope. As Nutnfancy would say, "love it!" It's too bad that they don't make them like that anymore.

I had that old 22 rebarrelled a few months ago. The gunsmith loved the scope and commented about shooting one hole groups at 25 yards.

  • The gun looks abit small.

  • Nice vid like always. I own a Center point 3-9x32mm and has a red and green variable illumination dial / objective lens ect. I am vary happy with its performance. $45. or so at walmart best cheep scope I own. Just my 2 cents!!!

  • "i like the bsa scopes " Affordable scopes have improved a lot in the last decade. For my indoor shooting the higher magnifications make them dimmer options for me. Maybe it's my eyeballs. I sure like the clarity on this RV9 though. And yes even $200 is a lot for a ..22 scope for me and I have run BSAs before (and still have one on the Beeman).

  • I am right there with you, I have a few bsa scopes, and to me for the money their great.I cant see putting a +100$ scope on a .22,on a "real rifle" sure you need the quality,oh well everyone has their on things.

  • Just yesterday I opened a similar package, in my case, a 1x3 variable for my range M4. And it is in fact light as well. One thing is that Weaver could do a little better packing the scope, because as you can see in the vid, the cradle to hold the scope in the box is merely some folded board. It'd be much better, and not expensive to have a couple foam piece centering the scope in the package and providing support against shock.

  • Just bought and installed a Nikon Prostaff 6320 w/BDC on a Browing 22SA. It's a similar very high quality scope to the the RV9 and very affordable. I paid 125 bucks NIB and another 55 bucks for a Leupold double dovetail mount/ring setup. I like it alot.

  • i have a bushnell scope that zooms in at almost 200 yards. but its still kind of blurry and even the littlest movements look huge through the scope

  • Nice video, I'm convinced.

I think I'll save my pennys and get the weaver for my 10/22

  • nutn' getting fancy with the intros and graphics!

  • HAHA ruger 10 22 was my first rife too.

  • Comment removed

  • NutnFancy: steeped in ol' timey.

  • I have a original ruger 10/22 just like that! That my granddad gave to me.

  • Yeah, I have to admit that I am one of those happy with the BSA quality for .22 scopes,I personally just don't see the reason to shell out almost as much on a scope as I do on the gun..Now for my "real" rifles that money is money well spent.

    Different scopes,for different folks.

    Great video as always.

  • I'm surprised you didn't discuss the philosophy of use for the different scopes. I use a Tasco 3-7x 20 for my Crossman 2289g aircarbine. It's not a high-quality scope, I admit, I paid 35$, but that's all I could afford. Once I sighted it, I did not miss one rodent with it. A cheaper scope used at a relatively medium range for an air rifle is more than adequate for pest control. I really enjoyed the review, thanks.

  • what is that first 22, it looks lovely

  • great video!!! i have that same ruger, but with a similar scope from the first rifle you showed. thanks!!!

  • did u forget to show ur old 22 or did i miss it

  • 3:39

  • 3:35

  • his old .22 is that ruger 10/22, the 2nd rifle shown.

  • If possible could you do a training vieo on optical sight use? I am great with iron sights but I am horrible with scopes. I have yet to own my own gun so thats probly why.. LOL

  • I first started shooting with iron sights. I'm glad I did too. At close and medium range I shoot better with iron sights than with a scope. I know guys who are great shots with a scope, but can't use irons to save their life. I think it's important to practice with both iron sight rifles and scoped rifles.

  • "I first started shooting with iron sights. I'm glad I did too." Totally agree and as you'll see in the vid I just posted I use that philosophy in training new shooters. It's unusual that someone shoots optics poorer than irons. A quality scope usually is pretty easy to connect with. Thanks.

  • Yea optics and irons are both fun. I like shooting irons more because when I do well I feel more proud of myself :)

  • Wow man your sons are so lucky. This coming from a person that didnt grow up with a dad. Like ever lol never did know him. But i know alot of people say you are awsome for your vids but you are a hell of a dad man! Your kids are really lucky. Keep up the great vids.

  • Loved this video. My first scope is a PEM(VT?) that my grandfather traded his rifle scope for with a Russian solider for in the 1940s. He gave that to my dad and my dad gave it to me. No knock on them, but this scope sucked. It needed a special German mount (I know...a Russian scope that needs a GERMAN mount!) to mount it, it couldn't keep its' dial and it has a distracting shiny lens. An heirloom I hate to shoot with...

Anyhow GREAT video! I loved the information on this. Need to forward it!

  • I have that same Bushnell scope.

  • Drop six bills on a scope? I prefer my favorite four letter word. FREE! Or cheap as hell , I have hit up yard sales and found four good scopes , two were just given to me. When somebody does not know what they have , its not as valuable to them so it becomes easy to walk away with a $200 scope for $10-$20.

  • nice bicentennial 10/22, remember the freedom train?

  • Very cool.

  • Five Stars!

  • What scope would you suggest for the Remington 700 tactical VTR in .223?

  • very nice video tnx

the scope is little low on the rifle am i right?

    that is a bit anoying

  • Hey nutnfancy could you stop playing music at the beginning? I can never hear what you say at the beginning because the music is louder than your voice.

  • Good point.

  • For what its worth, I personally enjoy the intro music, graphics, and still photos.

  • yup. Although the intro music does make me feel like Im walking past a gay club/bar

  • You say that like it's a bad thing.

  • The first Rifle is the nicest Gun.

  • what would be a good rifle to go target shooting with for a reasonable price i really want one thats bolt action!!!

  • Comment removed

  • :what would be a good rifle to go target shooting with for a reasonable price i really want one thats bolt action!!! You might like my next review then: posting now is the Crickett .22 single shot review.

  • per usual, thanks for the great vids
