  • Is it true you have to REALLY eat to gain muscle (increase calories) I have been working out for 3 months and haven't seen any muscle growth but I hardly eat because I have such a small apetite (only 2 small meals a day) is it possible to gain lean muscle without eating alot of food?

  • Simply put, he's probably NOT LIFTING HEAVY ENOUGH. The guy said he was doing push-ups for 2 years. So what?! Push-ups don't give you mass! They only give you strength. At the gym, he was probably lifting light and wondering why he saw no gains there either. Diet is important. Protein is important. But you must LIFT HEAVY (without getting injured of course). There is no other way to build mass. Weight gainers, in the case of an ectomorph, may also help.

  • hey bro i like all your post here in you tube. i started training last couple of monts. ago. i think may be 3 mos now ...and your right i realized i'm over trained and exhausted..im basically asian and like to eat rice so skip the rice and replace a brown rice..and planning to copy some of your meal..thanks about that!But i have a question, i work night shifts (no day shifting) and my work is so fast faced and i sweat a lot..Sometimes i tried to give training cause i feel i never grow.

  • Can you do a video about D Aspartic Acid? It's supposed to boost testosterone by increasing the output of luteinizing hormone directly when taking 3g/day. I have read that many juicers take it after a cycle to jump start natural testosterone production. What is your take on this amino acid testosterone booster?

  • hey lui, as you said in this video, i have the same problem as our friend in the video, and i was saying this video is for me, because i am doing karate in conjunction with weight lifting. In fact i am writing this comment and my karate session is only 45 minutes after.

  • lui i am a beginner i have been working out for three weeks. i work out every other day on my biceps and they seem to be growing; they are already half an inch bigger. you said not to overwork but i heard its okay for a newcomer. when should i stop working so much and stick to once a week. plus i take whey protein which has creatine and glutamine mixed inside.

  • For the most part, people that think that aren't putting on the size that they think they should be and they think that they're eating enough, training properly and resting sufficiently often aren't eating enough in my experience! People burn a lot of calories through non-exercise associated thermogenesis throughout the day and they don't even know it!

  • Ectomorphs aren't too bad for speed, it just sucks for heavy lifting. More recovery time is needed, and they are more likely prone to injury in their joints if they over train and not get enough recovery time. Great advice here Louis, over-training and being ectomorph is a seriously dangerous combination, especially when going heavy.

  • How can I gain a lot muscle if I have Irritable bowel Syndrome?

    I have a hard time eating when I get up. Today, i drank milk for the protein, but threw up.

  • nothing wrong with ectomorphs though, many world top athletes are ectomorphs because they have fast agile bodies.

  • Is it bad to do dips and small grip bench press for the triceps when you train the chest at another day than triceps? lower growth for the chest etc? THUMBS UP!

  • @ayDJej i think dips trains both dips and tri, also if you put you chin against your chest and lean forward you get more work out on the chest..

  • lui, i've been lifting weights for about a year now and have noticed that my right arm is much bigger than my left arm. how do you workout to make sure your right side and left side develop equally?

  • @pibadar Make sure you aren't upping the weight/make sure you are using the same weight for both arms. Start with your weaker/smaller side first and simply don't change the weight until the other arm has caught up. Most people have a weaker side in all their muscle groups, it just takes time and attention to your lifts for it to rectify itself. Hope that helps a bit.

  • hey lui, do u think that doing 4sets of flat barbell bench press, 4 of dumbell incline bench press, and 3 sets of dips once a week enough for a chest workout?

  • @89JLB In my personal opinion that sounds like a great chest work out to me mate. I'm sure Lui would agree, they are all compound exercises that's the way to go! just make sure your calories are in check and you should be growing!

  • Hey Lui you said you can train your slow twitch muscles more than once a week and I have heard this before and so agree. But say I work abs Monday and they are still sore on Wednesday do you work them again or let them rest?

  • @CalgaryAlpineStyle They aren't bodybuilders though are they, they are all calisthenics guys. Great physiques but most of the time hugely disproportionate and they always have no legs.

    In my personal opinion they are all in great shape but their sport requires them to work out upper body multiple times per week.

    I personally almost never work out legs, and from what I've heared you can get injuries by doing so.

    Same goes for bench press, I never go over with more than 80% of my weight limit, if not less, especially for the incline barbell since it is risky for shoulder injuries. But it seems calisthenics gives you the exact timing for when to stop overdoing something, you just get tired. It's just about the winter

  • Yoo Lui, im a chunky guy, i look a bit chunkyer than the video of you before you started working out, I plan on Joining the cross country team at my school. I don't have any intentions of getting extremely ripped anytime soon, i just want to be slim then ill start working on getting ripped. Im a mesomorph and im naturally buff looking but its mostly fat. Do you think cross country as well as eating good will help me slim up? or should i just train on my own or a gym (age 16) - Anyone reply plz

  • @keon191 For sure it'll help you out getting slim, provided you learn how to run and stretch properly so you don't abuse your tendons and other issues, because you want to run several times a week I suppose.

    It may be THE best way to lose weight, after all, and you get stamina too.

    I personally cannot run more than a couple of times a week, I do other sports as well, to compensate.

    Then again, running less often gives me time to use variations for my muscle workouts.

  • lui, ive been trying to burn some fat for nearly a year now. i cleaned my up my diet and trained even harder and it barely worked. then i seen one of your videos and you said to jog for 20-30 mins first thing in the morning. i started doing that on monday. i know its only a few days but i already see a huge difference. i jog for 20 minutes in the morning. i feel so much better during the day as well. i am happier now then ever, even though i still have a bit to go.

  • hey Lui , since you mentioned sleep i have problems with it, its very hard for me to get up in the morning , i have to get up at 6:00am to prepare for my job, eat , go to shower etc... im going to bed at 9:30pm but when morning comes its very hard to get up and it causes me stress, what should i do to rest well and get upin the morning easy. sory for writing errors im not speaking in english very well...

  • @KWLization power workout means mainly compounds(eg for back deadlifts + bent bb row + tbar row) for low low reps 6-8 and hypertrophy you use machines and dumbbells mostly(eg for back , pulldowns ) for slightly higher reps 10-12

    eg one back day for thickness , the other with more reps for width ;) it can work if one day does not work 2 will , but eat acordingly ;)

    i was born in the us, but i lived half my life in a middle eastern ghetto, i never smoked or anything, my workouts are 100% natural, but from what you said i think my problem (other than genetics) is that i was over working out my muscles and not giving them time to rest, because i was always scared to lose my muscle if i stopped working them out for a day or two, so thanks a lot for the tips i appreciate it, your the man.

    if I knew that sort of thing when I was in highschool I would've used them to stay at around 6'1 or so

  • @CalgaryAlpineStyle just see the Judo Wrestlers,they are not very tall (and they do intense warmings-up trainings and lifting big weights which are The Main "Growing Killers")...and my Mother remained veery very small since 14 years age because she told me that she stopped eating a lot because she thought that is bad for her silouette (many girls do this stupid thing)...

    but for you I think that Big Weights and Intense Trainings Specifical For Wrestlings COULD BE HELPED YOU TO REMAIN SMALL

    As far as I've read, tall guys would use more calories/km of running for example, because we have a higher expenditure of energy, yes.

    Speaking of "growing killers" you're perhaps right about it, but it's a very complex issue, there are other factors involved, like hormones etc, I don't know.

  • @NEONATOR1 I can answer that... Cardio isn't necessary for you to loose fat... cardio is just the cherry on top of the cake... Weightlifting and a clean diet with a caloric deficit is the most effective way to go if you wanna burn fat and cardio is not necessary at all...

    Watch all of luis videos and all will be clear, the man is a freekin encyclopedia of bodybuilding :P

    No, look at the ingredients, they will have added sugar, salt, malted barley extract etc.

    Just get the shredded wheats and pour some chocolate whey with milk over it, leave it 5 minutes so it's nice and soft and enjoy. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day because of how good that is.

  • @yamakunda they are probably the next best substitute to shredded wheat. Since they have so little sugar:) just be careful with the added fruits/berries :)
