@bweinerblues Thanks. I will look you up some time soon. I have also played stuff by Mississippi John Hurt, Frank Stokes, Rev Gary Davis, Blind Boy Fuller - or something like it. <}:-)
It sounds good, but would be better if you palm muted. I use just a thumbpick too and it helps separate out the bass. Seriously try recording yourself with it and I think you'll be surprised by the difference.
It's a standard D (000232), then dropped one fret (000121) and then with the top E left open(000120). Hope this helps. If you have any problems I'll make another tape showing exactly how the whole song is played. Good luck!
Hi there! Been playing with a thumbpick too long to stop now. Would have to change my name! I like to get lots of strings resonating and that needs quite a firm attack. Thanks for your thoughts.
You play nice, might try raising your voice a little on next ones,

@forcheryl Thanks! Yep, now I use a mic sometimes to get over the guitar's volume. It helps. <}:-)

Saw your Davis version of 'Funny that way'. Very good. I play Leadbelly on 12 string.
Who's other styles do you play? My favorite artist is Leroy Carr. I've adapted a number of his songs from piano to guitar. bweinerblues@yahoo.com

You've got that steady rhythm that MJH had. The song flows from that. Good work.

Excellent! I'd like to learn this song. I see the A an G but what is that D chord your are sliding down? Is it a D2? Thanks it advance for the help.

Good playing!
Have you ever tried that same with bare fingers? It might sound smoother...
