It took me an entire week to get it down with the timing. There is a correct tabbed version that is right on though it won't sound like it while you're learning it and yes, it can be done, thumb or no thumb ... plan on spending a good week of 2-3 hours a day.

I've heard mosty two interpretations-

One was that it's about hope, saying that a new couple together know that they at least will be together until St. Patricks Day, when all the social outings are over and they are just left with each other..

And other (my view) is that it is bittersweet, talking about how people sometimes only stick together while it's convenient- ie. Who wants to be alone at Christmas?! Better to put breaking up off, until after new year, and valentines day.. :/

my brother was listening to it(oh i miss him so much), and i went to his room, layed down on his bed, & it was REALLY cold here in NY, it was like december 22nd...and i layed down and listened to this song, and i started to tear up. the room was quiet while both of us listened to this song.
