  • Hello there! Thanks for your tips. They were really helpful !!

    Regards

  • u saved my life thank u sooooooooooooooooooooooo much

  • MY CAPS ARE ALWAYS ON AFTER QUITE A BAD SPILLAGE ON MY KEYBOARD IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN SORT THIS (THE SHIFT BUTTON IS BASICALLY ALWAYS ON)

  • Thanks for the helpful video - just fixed an annoying sticking "r"!

  • Very clear and easy to understand instructions. 20 minutes to remove and reassemble 3 keys and their suspensions. I was ready to blame my kids for spilling something on the keyboard, but turns out that there was just some tiny pieces of lint and dust obstructing the movement of these keys. GREAT FIX!!!! Thanks a lot!!

  • MUCH APPRECIATED.

  • Haha, the keys came off nowhere near as smoothly as they did in your video. Gave up after four keys. Still, that "pyowng" at 1:38 stopped me being mad.

  • i love you!

  • Many many thanks TuckerCowie! Had a spillage on my macbook pro and searched many forums for a guide to removing the keys without success. You saved me a expensive maintenance costs.

  • My key popped off but the white x thing thats kinda like a stand is attached to the bottom key, not the computer, Im using a macbook pro

  • I think when I followed these instructions when trying to clean my Macbook Pro, I snapped off one of the tabs in the below bracket. Now my "O" key is loose and tends to fall out... Is it because I'm using a Pro and this video demonstrates it on a regular macbook and the Pros are different?

  • Excellent! This made it the whole process so much easier to understand (I don't like doing things until I understand how the things I'm working with work.)

  • :) thank you...just fixed my F8 key lol

  • thanks this is tricky

  • Totally worked, thanks for the instructions.

  • it work!!!

  • Okay, I managed to pop off my command key like you did, but I can't get it to go back on!

  • Wait, nevermind, I got it. Thanks!

  • This was helpful. If you've got one or two stuck keys give it a shot but if you spilled rootbeer over the entire keyboard (like me) it will take far too long to pull off and clean every key.

  • Be careful! this method is not very "technical" and could break the hooks of the key.

    Here there's a more technical demonstration: watch?v=JjRTQIfVTgU

  • my "enter" key, the one on the side (the long one) got off and when i tried to put it back in, the little "fingers" that you said actually had nothing to grab so the key won't go in. i didn't break the plastic thing but i'm worried cause i can't get it in.

    help...

  • @fettonnino You'll need to get the front-most suspension on first(closest to the screen). Snap that part on first with the wire up under the key then just push forward and snap the back half down; if you didn't mess the wire up, the wire should automatically go into the eyelets

  • @TuckerCowie i could repair my enter key successfully, Thank you very much .

  • So I have an issue. Removed a key and now it's really lopsided...the top is sticking straight up in the air and it's making it hard for the key to be pressed. Help?

  • @glassysurface Try making sure your suspension is on the right way and not backwards, if that doesn't solve it, your keyboard bracket may be bent

  • This worked perfectly on my 15" Macbook Pro (MB985LL/A). Thanks!

  • I'm attempting to reattach the tab key to a Macbook Pro 5.1 (aluminum body, black keys) and I can't get it to work at all. Both the key and the suspension are off. Also, the metal bit it at the top of the key instead of the bottom. I can reattach the suspension to the key, but I can't get the suspension to reattach to the actual keyboard, either with or without the key. Help?

  • امريكي وسخ عليك اللعنه يا خنزير يا وسخ يا قذر عليك اللعنه

  • 3LYK El LA7MAA

  • Thanks for the help. I'm trying it today.

  • Tucker,

Does the same method work for a Macbook 2.1 as well?

  • I'm sure it' very similar.

I can't guarantee it's the same, however I know most of the older versions of the keyboard suspensions were facing sideways- parellel to the screen

  • Thank you Tucker. The visual really helped. It took a little while b/c my plastic thingy's were already not in place, but I finally got it. No more letting my son play with my computer.

  • please, Tucker, does this work with the arrow keys? I pulled off an arrow key and it did not come off the same way - did I break it???

  • It's similar, but it's sideways. There are also loop locks on the right side- like a joint.

If you've pulled the key off, without the white suspension, it should just snap on.

If you've pulled off the key and the suspension, try to slide it from the left to right, then snap the loop locks in on the right. There is a hook on the left that catches one side of the suspension; this is what you'll need to catch before you snap the locks in- it can be quite difficult to get it if you don't.

  • Thanks so much!! These were tricky keys I found, because of the two 'dead' spots where there are no keys in between, and they are so tiny and fiddly.

Due to an unfortunate incident with a glass of Marsala, the four arrow keys required some "de-stikyfying."

Do you know if it is possible to pull up those little rubbery circular springs all or partway to clean underneath them, or should this not be tampered with?

    Cheers and thanks again!

  • I'd recommend not trying to take them off. I know there is a way, but I'm not sure of how to do it. Don't hold me to it, but I think from there, the keyboard breaks down into layers: Pressure pads(actual keys), the translucent gel(diffuses the light), then the LEDs. That requires dismantling the computer frame... I think that voids the warranty, or care plan.

  • Thank you sooo much for this video. I spilled soda on my pro last night and i thought i was going to have to live with sticky keys forever!

  • ah i accidentally took off one of the rubber pieces, what do i do??

  • @HandyGirl90 Try getting some glue and glue the outside of the pad- don't block the pressure sensor in the middle. It's probably not a good idea to be too generous either because you might block the sensor.

  • Thank you so much :) After having kittens tear apart my keyboard, this video made it much easier to fix.

  • There's 3 suspensions AND a pivot wire that hold the space bar in. The best thing to do is to snap the suspensions into the keyboard and get the wire onto the space bar. Then get the wire to snap into both sides of the key board(make sure the bar is facing the screen). After this it should be easy to snap the suspensions to the back of the space key

    Hope that helped!

  • please, tucker. i desperately need help! i just can't put the space key correctly back!!!

  • I believe its similar.. but the rows of keys have differing suspension directions

  • do you know if this technique will work with the new unibody macbook pro? i spilled half a can of diet coke all over it and now i have sticky keys!

  • thank you for making this for me lol. i literaly got it in like 2 seconds with watching this
