because the magnet spins the disk... and the magnet was not a lined with the disk ... there fore the disk wont spin so u have to take it apart to aline it and then the disk spins

i got the same issue with my copy but there are 2 diffrent ways to deal with it

1) just have the disc in the xbox and shut the 360 off then turn it on and it should have read the game

2) it takes usually 3-10 tries of opening and closeing the disc tray till it finally reads the disc

For all those who just recently bought Gears of War 2 and are getting this Disc unreadable message:

If your other games are working, then it's most likely nothing wrong with your xbox.

I've changed my disc and now have 0 problems. I had to change it three times before I got a disc that was working. So I suggest going to another store and nabbing it up there it should be fine. :)

I have the same problem. I've tried laying the Xbox flat, or propping it up. It would load to the main screen, then give me the message. Disc unreadable.

There's so far, no solution for me except to swap the disc. This time, i'll test it in store and make sure it works. :)

Anyone have any solutions or is this a world wide problem? For some people, GOW2 works fine, but for a vast majority, this thing is messed up bad.

Tengaport a few questons that u got to answer, I have been having probs with Gears Of War. It started when i was playing it and my dad moved my Xbox 360 to the shelf to the ground. It made a grinding noise, and i took out the disk only to find huge circular circles around it. Ure GOW prob dosen't work cause u've been moving it while it was in the drive (if not then i don't know the problem) NOTE: on the 360 manual on setting it up, it clearly says not to move the xbox while game in drive.

I had that, so i traded the game for a new one. It carried on happening so i changed my xbox. It has been fine now for a few months until last night. I can't play any more than 3 minutes of gears before that damn message appears. Some xboxs do scratch up the discs so watch out. I am getting a new copy of gears tomorrow and if it continues, ill get a new xbox. If it still continues, i'll take a big shit on my xbox and send it to Bill Gates. :)

The AV cable is not detected. Try this:

1.Unplug the av cable

1a.Replug, Turn on

If that doesn't work

2.Wipe the av cable contact connecting to the Xbox with a DRY cloth

If that still doesn't work

3.Use a different AV cable (if avalible)

And if that STILL don't work, call M$ (Microsoft) if you still have your warantty send it to them and you'll ethier get a new 1 or get the old 1 fixed for free. If you don't you gotta pay $130 for repairs

If the xbox was overheating, it would blink red and turn off. It isnt the posistion, it's gotta be the disc itself. If it works in other 360s, it's the consol itself.

everyone who has this prolem, if you don't give the console space to breath it will overheat and fuk up everything you wrkd to achieve, put your 360 in the open, with at least 2 inches of space on both sides, front and back, that shuld definitely fix your overheating probs

You have the Xbox 360 in a very closed enviorment that will cause your xbox 360 to overheat and other problem. It MIGHT be the causing problem. READ THE FUCKING MANUAL AND STOP BEING SO STUPID!
