The relays were switched. The first relay on the top row should have been empty, instead it had another one in there causing the strangeness. I don't remember which ones. It could also be that the relay is bad in yours. I've also started a thread on this over on rennlist that might be useful.

Did you ever find a fix for this? I have a 928 in my shop and it is doing the exact same thing. Any help or link to help would be appreciated!

Could be a relay or the shut off for the motor. Try finding the 928 Forum Rennliste where there is currently a thread posted dealing with this issue.
