@TheArdalis We've heard of it, but never seen the technique used and would not recommend it. Mineral fiber ceiling tiles collect enough dust and "powder" on their own. Adding more, even to cover fingerprints, seems like a really bad idea . . . and your video shows why!
wow for randomly surfing youtube videos this one was the coolest home renovation one yet! 5 stars for making me want to install a drop ceiling in my house. :-)
Excellent questions! Ceilume's tiles are made of rigid vinyl, so they won't absorb moisture, stain, create dust, or crack when you handle them. They have very high light reflectance, above 83%, which is almost certainly higher than the tiles you will be covering. The NRC value of your old tiles may be somewhat diminished by refacing, but your sound barrier characteristics will be enhanced. Thanks for the great questions!
Any thoughts on using baby powder to freshen up ceilings, like shown here:

What are the face tiles made out of? Wouldn't they effect the NRC rating and light reflectance?

I like it! Produces no waste, and you still end up with a great looking ceiling. Very efficient!

Great idea. A whole new look to the ceiling, without having to throw the old tiles away.
