It's great when you go looking for this achievement and get it.
It's damn confusing when you have no idea there is such an achievement and you're just minding your own business in the Blasted Lands and suddenly eveything goes red and there's fire and you die and you're all, "WTF JUST HAPPENED?!?!" and then everyone in your guild starts congratulating you XD
I don't got this yet, but I got a few thigns to add to yoru FAQs.
1.) He will not attack major cities (Stormwind, Ogrimmar, etc.) or starting Zones (Teladrassil, Azure Isles, etc.).
2.) When someone claims "Real First: Deathwing Kill" it'l limmedately become a FoS.
3.) Hiding in a house WILL PROTECT YOU,.
4.) Even if you have maxed as a hunter on a 310% mount give you 450% inceraseed movement, you will NOT OUT RUN HIM. If you don't want to die, Hearthstone out.
In all reality, i took the Mage port to the dark portal, once i did that, i found everything in front of it was on fire, as well as to the Right of the area, so i mounted up and flew through it :) Achievment, GAINED :) without even meaning it! :) So just fly around looking for MASSIVE flames :) and fly through

i got the achievement, and the greatest thing was, i did not die, i was on the flying mount when deathwing came and i stayed at 1 hp, cant die on a mount lol. I cant be killed by deathwing
This achievement is pissing me the fuck off. I've camped dozens of spots for hours on end with no luck.. while every one of my guildies bitch about being killed my him for the dozenth time.

I took the flight from booty bay to western plague lands. It takes a while so i ran some youtube videos. After couple of minutes I checked WoW and my character was around 20% HP. I checked the achievements and boom - earned. wtf

I've got burned two times, one with two characters: first with my Orc shaman and recently with my Gnome mage. Is not nicely be burned but unforntunely is the only way to see Deathwing, while we currently can't fight him until some future patches maybe. In those two times I couldn't see Deathwing beacause I haven't any idea about this event, so I want to know what should I do, move or go, and see Deathwing properly, before get the achivement.
@benyli99 Yes. It is still avalable to get. I have seen or so guildes get it in the past 2 weeks. He flies randomly through out the day in every zone. I am no sure about starting zones though. But it is still avalable in 2011.

This happened to me and a friend when we were chilling in Tanaris, the sky turned red and were heard deathwing roar (This happened on June 26 2011) the only thing we had to say was "WTF!" and then the fire came..... Best Night ever....
@Gasketfuse I didn't as there is no way you can do that, he flies around random in no specific order, but I just knew that he would come by wetlands eventually, in my case I waited there for 3-4 hours, but I might as well have waited there for 24-48 hours or more lol :P

I only JUST started playing WoW 2 weeks ago. I've never touched this game since it came out (I'm more of a shooter guy). So there I am an hour ago in Burning Steppes accepting a quest, when everything turns red. I'm thinking, "huh is this part of the quest?" 20 seconds later, I'm dead with the achievement, and I'm all WTF. A quick google later and I have my answer. I got this achievement on my pally in Burning Steppes. Honestly though I didn't know this achievement existed until I got it. I was just minding my own business mining for mithril I didn't even get to see deathwing. I was in the freaking volcano full of ogres when I died :( I'm hoping that I will get to see it again, but I doubt it. I mean the time I did get the achievement was pure dumb luck.
@dragonome Are you sure, it wasn't because you were at the Arena place, where the CoC also known as Ring of Blood is going on? Because during one of the encounters, the sky will turn red :)
@ToloDK he will attack any zone minus the noob zones and capital zones in Azeroth, won't show up in Northrend, or outland. The bastard has killed me like 10 times, once in Twilight Highlands, twice in Uldum, and mostly when I'm doing archaeology in wetlands

I was in Uldum today and i went Afk for under a minute to look for where the Ramkahen Quartermaster was, and i find myself dead and i never cought a glymps of deathwin for he had allready come and gone, and now the achevement feels hollow, because i never got to se deathwing torch my ass. My guildies got the achievement at Twilight Highlands. I immediatly took the portal and flight there, there wasnt deathwing and sky was normal ..but i went into the fire he left and i got the achievement =) lulz
@g0sub Oh I'm glad they fixed it, grats on the achievement :) It was only the first ocuple of days you wasn't able to jump into the fire afterwardsafer it had flied by, in order to get your achievement.

@Saitekman I didn't know which way he would come from, and I was more focused to hit the fire he spread, than actually looking at him, and by the time I thoug "hey I should probably pan the camera a little", he was waaay too close and BAM I dead :)

That if you don't get hit by his fire before it lands, you don't get the achievement. You wotn get it either, by standing in it afterwads. I got my achievment in Tanaris. I hadn't yet heard of the stood in the fire achievment, so I just thought the weather was wierd, then as I was attacking a Stone Watcher, the fire hit me and I was dead. The achievment dinged before I even hit the ground. LOL

Ha one day I was standing in the Blasted Lands not paying attention. I looked at the kitchen and then turned back and I was toast! It looked like the whole world was on fire. I didnt know what had happened :P All I know is all the people in my guild were like GRATZ!!!!! :P

I just got this! I was waiting for a battle ground in Gadgetzan and then the sky turned red! I got the achievement! It is so awesome!

I only JUST started playing WoW 2 weeks ago. I've never touched this game since it came out (I'm more of a shooter guy). So there I am an hour ago in Burning Steppes accepting a quest, when everything turns red. I'm thinking, "huh is this part of the quest?" 20 seconds later, I'm dead with the achievement, and I'm all WTF. A quick google later and I have my answer. Why don't I have this kind of luck in the lottery -_-;;

I got this achievement on my pally in Burning Steppes. Honestly though I didn't know this achievement existed until I got it. I was just minding my own business mining for mithril I didn't even get to see deathwing. I was in the freaking volcano full of ogres when I died :( I'm hoping that I will get to see it again, but I doubt it. I mean the time I did get the achievement was pure dumb luck.

I was in Twilight Highlands, doing a quest. Then, sky turned red and stuff so it looked like sun was going down so I thought: "Oh! Night is coming?"
idnt see Deathwing back then but it's freaky now when I realized it.

@ToloDK he will attack any zone minus the noob zones and capital zones in Azeroth, won't show up in Northrend, or outland. The bastard has killed me like 10 times, once in Twilight Highlands, twice in Uldum, and mostly when I'm doing archaeology in wetlands

I was in Uldum today and i went Afk for under a minute to look for where the Ramkahen Quartermaster was, and i find myself dead and i never cought a glymps of deathwin for he had allready come and gone, and now the achevement feels hollow, because i never got to se deathwing torch my ass. My guildies got the achievement at Twilight Highlands. I immediatly took the portal and flight there, there wasnt deathwing and sky was normal ..but i went into the fire he left and i got the achievement =) lulz

@g0sub Oh I'm glad they fixed it, grats on the achievement :) It was only the first ocuple of days you wasn't able to jump into the fire afterwardsafer it had flied by, in order to get your achievement.

@Saitekman I didn't know which way he would come from, and I was more focused to hit the fire he spread, than actually looking at him, and by the time I thoug "hey I should probably pan the camera a little", he was waaay too close and BAM I dead :)

That if you don't get hit by his fire before it lands, you don't get the achievement. You wotn get it either, by standing in it afterwads.
