@EmroxXx Thanks for mentioning that, I've been trying to use the auto-ducking feature in my screen recorder, but the results have been far from perfect.
@eameres2 did you talkover live while doing it or did you do the talkover later on?
I would recommend to use two return channels in live, one with a ableton live compressor with sidechain activated and linked to the other return channel (low threshold and ratio about 4 or higher). Now you can route all audio you´re producing into the compressor return channel while it uses your voice on the sidechain so every time your talking it compresses the original audio and your voice has room to fill in
@EmroxXx Normally I would have done just what you say, unfortunately I relied on screenflow to handle the webcam audio separately from ableton's output. This let's you slide and edit the two independently within screenflow, but as you've noticed, the auto ducking is a bit dodgey.
In my newer tutorials I'm doing voiceover as a second pass, the biggest plus its that I ramble a lot less, and the videos are shorter! The other benefit is that I use a real mic.
@DJPaggos I've learned my software tools, including Max and Ableton largely by trial and error (over the past 20 or so years!) and dissecting what others have done. You can see a walkthrough of an existing maxforlive patch in my newest video to see what I mean. Feel free to ask questions and post comments!!!
@giveupthepfunk sorry, I edited and added the address with link to max for live devices in general. I'm rebuilding a new version to put up there later today...
please mute the music while explaining in your upcoming videos...makes it less difficult to understand and much more easier to follow
