  • What is the difference between a Harp, and a Celtic Harp...is there?

  • @Jennalovesrainbows Hi Jenna! A Celtic harp is just one type of harp. There are many harps--Celtic harp, concert harp, Paraguayan harp--just to name a few.

  • @Jennalovesrainbows A celtic harp harp is smaller than a the classical harp used in symphonic orchestra. Usually, it has metal strings (but this one doesn't) instead of guts strings. It has less strings. No pedals. On classical harps, pedals allow flats and sharps while playing. Celtic harp may have switches on the upper part to do it once before playing. The upper part is less curved, and the front has an arc shape, instead of a straight column (this is the main difference easily noticable).

  • notice how his tie slips off

  • I've played a dulcimer; never a harp ..

    angrydude

  • @pbatusa Do you play rock on the dulcimer?

  • Think you play up an octive ,, very tinty

  • @BonzerPilot I start by playing up an octave and then play the rest of the song in the octave it was written.

  • always loved celtic

  • @worldof00t I love Celtic and all kinds of music :-)

  • Takes me to a place I see too little of, serenity. Thanks for the video

  • @pillroller88 Thank you for the kind comment!

  • @pillroller88 Thank you for the very kind comment :-)

  • I play Double Bass and everyone asks me wouldn't it be easier to carry a flute. I'm with you girl!

  • @Leftclick24 I love the double bass. I always tell folks that if I didn't play harp, I'd play the double bass. There's something very cool about instruments that resonate so much that they make the floor vibrate :-) Thanks for the comment!

  • I play Celtic harp too and I'm looking for Loreena McKennitt musical sheet . Can someone tell me where I can find?

  • @Sethi1st Check out the Sylvia Woods' website online. She has Loreena McKennitt sheet music available for purchase as downloads!

  • BEAUTIFUL!! would love to hear a whole CD of Zep tunes on harp!!

  • @ledzeppelintribute I'll have this tune available on my next CD!

  • Obvious choice, I mean Communication Breakdown would be a bit harder

    Nice version though

  • This is beautiful and I will treasure it.

Too bad the guy cut her off, as if whatever he, and whatever he had to say (which was a repeat of what he already said!) was more important!!

Gone to check out the cd...

  • I play the harp myself, and was wondering if anyone knew and irish traditional music that I could play?

  • @AnyMusicalWillDo There are tons of Irish trad. tunes out there. Go to the Sylvia Woods website or the Harp Connection website.

  • I always wanted to play this piece on my DS36s but was put off by the chromatics.. I guess it just takes frenetic lever work! I wonder if anyone has played this on a cross strung harp.

  • @KNO3CS I try to great each tune that seems difficult on the Celtic harp as a challenge. Using levers is often necessary to play modern pop tunes, but I'll admit that I'd have to be an octopus to change all the levers necessary to play some tunes out there ;-)

  • this was amazing, i've been playing the harp for a year now, and one day i hope i can be as good as you are! thank you!

  • @UnOiseauSurLabre Thank you for your very kind comment. Stay with the harp and you'll be amazed what you'll be able to play :-)

  • Wow that was played beautifully! The Celtic Harp is truely a beautiful instrumen and you seem to know how to play it beautifully....and tellthat guy not to interrupt.....its not nice <.<

  • @s4ngu1ne Dude shut up she is a perfect player your just pist cant you do the things others can!

  • love it ! my 8 year old daughter has just decided to learn the harp!

  • there too much of speech here

  • damn wtf... thats cool

  • Love it!! <333

  • @Sannetje1990 Thank you so much!

  • That was bad ass! That just made my day.

  • @locthetoker Thanks for the very cool comment!

  • gorgeous. thanks

  • I think it sounds wonderful....I really like this song on the harp...

  • think maybe she should have dropped it an octave, or is that not possible on a harp?

  • In this arrangement, I actually start off playing Stairway to Heaven an octave higher, but then for the remainder of the song, I play it in the octave that it is written.

  • I hate that man =(

The music was wonderful, why interrupt...?

    Oh well, good vid =D

  • Marvelous

  • Thank you :-)

  • "Nothing else sounds like the harp."

three minutes later, there she is, imitating a guitar. Hah. But that's great nonetheles...

  • are the red colored strings to let you know the starting of a chord?

  • The red colored string are "C" strings. Harps have colored strings to help you find your way around when you're playing, just like pianos have black and white keys to differentiate between the notes :-)

  • ahahah, beautiful!!!

what kind of model is that harp?

  • The harp is an Triplett Eclipse Celtic harp, made of cherry wood.

  • pretty good

  • simply lovely! the harp sound good playing any kind of music:) i don't know much about the harp at all, but are those levers to sharpen and flatten notes?

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, the levers function to sharpen and flatten notes. They are really necessary in modern pop music, where there are a lot accidental notes (notes outside of a key).

  • How do accidentals fit in with the Grecian concept of "modes"? For example, I think its the Aeolian mode which in contemporary nomenclature is a diatonic minor (blues scale). Hold on. I'll go check...ah, good, at least I remembered that right! And also, are they robust enough to simulate a "wammy bar" - often referred to as a tremelo arm - effect?

  • Well, this is definitely a tune that is chromatic and not diatonic, which is the reason for making all those lever changes to account for the accidentals. No tremulo affect on the harp--The strings do their own ringing :-)

  • Haha, this was too cool.

  • thats too cool!!

  • Harps rock!

  • just goes to show Zep is beautiful on any platform. that was great it sucked they interrupted you..

  • Yea. That's TV for you. But I'll have a complete version on upcoming CDs (hopefully on the market by Christmas) :-)

  • The newsguy was wearing clip-on ties, and many of them are made for children, so they look truncated :-)

  • What happened to newsguy's tie's lower half?

  • awesome song! I love stairway to heaven and it sounds oh so sweet on the harp!

Did anybody else notice the anchor's clip-on tie get un-clipped at about 1:35 and fall off at about 1:50?

  • They were doing a segment on the anniversary of the clip-on tie, so the announcer was wearing an assortment of clip-on ties throughout the broadcast. I didn't know it fell off, though :-D

  • ah, lol! That is a lot less embarasing on his part!

  • Comment removed

  • nice To hear something new like that ! Elite harp!

  • I'd love to hear her play the guitar solo

  • Zeppelin never sounded sooooo good!

  • This is another reason why I love Anne Roos. Her versatility! Can't wait for this CD to come out.

  • You Rock Girl!
