I really love HP. I think that "WebOS" has a lot of potential in the market.

When they announced that they would shut down the PC/Tablet division, the stores put the prices of remaining "TouchPads" down. In that weekend, "TouchPad" was the most sold tablet in the Market…So, the product is good, and the market likes it. I think that they should rethink their strategies...

I don't care much about HP getting out of the consumer PC market, their computers (most of them anyways) really aren't that good in terms of build quality.

I am however very disappointed in them killing WebOS, it is just another example of a larger company absorbing and destroying a smaller more innovative company, and that is really sad. RIP Palm.

I HATE dealing with HP customer service, They tend to be the worst in customer service, of course this is my mileage. I know a few corporation branches that moved to HP laptops and HATED the customer service and would probably NEVER go with there products again. If they can't do basic customer service, they won't last long in the enterprise market.

I don't think it's a big deal for HP to drop the consumer market... don't forget that just like IBM, HP initially only dealt with industry and supplied dedicated mainframe systems, hardware and software. They were good at it and I am guessing they are just going back to their roots.

I think it was not smart to fire sell that quick. I would have pakaged a "deal" with each of HP desktops you get a "free" tablet and even ben able to mark up the PC price a $100-200 to make up losses. Also then you go from no market pressence to huge market pressence.

Apple seems to be happy and making a profit with their share of the market. I bought a Macbook back in 2009 and am quite happy. Thinking of getting the 27" desk top soon. HP is just being stupid or they have issues deeper than they're letting on.

I don't use HP products, I've had two of their laptops and they were both awful, they broke after several months. In 2009 I got a macbook pro... and I'm still using it. I wouldn't describe myself as an Apple fanboy, but for what I need, which is browsing the web, editing videos and working while travelling, the macbook has been the best bet.

with that being said, I think it's good for them to ditch the dead (and awful) weight.
