This song is mostly about her relationship with Gavin Rossdale at that time. The first couple of lines sound like they could be about Tony Kanal. Of course, Don't Speak is blatantly about Tony Kanal. That's one thing I love about Gwen. She has a lot of resilience and confidence to be able to put everything out there with her lyrics. She's very honest about her feelings.
