@1norville Once again your dealing with a customer service issue.. xray is severely lacking in the customer service department. I have said this before and was told this many times all i hear is "good guitars,rotten service".. and now with the price increase to $2500 it makes sense to pick Scott Hembrys guitar. I have seen Xrays guitars add claim a "tax rebate sale" for a limited time its $1500 but that's plain stupid and who is ever running the show there needs business 101 in school

But it became too much of a "your picking on this guitar" and I was giving MY opinion which is why my show is blooming.. I give my opinion even if it hurts the company or endorser. Too many people cant afford good equipment so i make it easy to choose like i helped you in your decision.

They both are very nice, but being a newly acquired X-Ray owner, I kinda of like the Hembry better, the teeth on the X-Ray doesn't look true to the original, great job on your videos, I just bought the nail polish, wink!

@speedjunkie66 Yes it is..I ordered it that way.. I wanted something slightly different from the old black n white scheme.. But Scott Hembry will color it any color you want including it looking like flesh.. Xray guitars I am not sure if they will you would have to give them a call if they ever answer their phone or email.

Surprisingly--I think the Hembry looks a bit more accurate. The details are closer to the original "Mom" guitars, but the color is a bit dark. I do like the aged look, but X-Ray's version is brighter. If Hembry did a brighter white--I'd be all over it. I can't believe X-Ray just increased the price by a friggin' GRAND! I was about to pull the trigger on one--not now. They increased by about $500.00 a year ago, then went back to $1500.00--I can't understand a thousand dollar increase!

@bengalsfanatic9 Both look like the original J.Frog guitars in many ways, but they both have their own personal spin on it which i like. I have had the J Frog and the ESP type of skull and bone and they all differ slightly. Now remember that Scott built that Skull and bone for me and you can talk to him and he will paint it any color you want, I have seen some on his site that look like raw flesh and hes a great guy to work with. And he stays with the $1500 price tag .

I always got responses from Kurt when I was trying to decide on buying a Bootleg Bones. In your case though, I never would have ordered from them them if they can't find 2 minutes out of the day to reply to a message--just bad business. Especially when dealing with a thousand dollar price hike. I got a reply from Hembry within 12 hours yesterday--I'll certainly be ordering one of his. He also said I could get one in a brighter white, too.

@bengalsfanatic9 I always like to be fair in business, but in xrays case i understand that they were going thru financial problems and a few other problems which i never heard directly it was just thru the rumor mill, but i did contact 2 ppl who use his guitars Chad and Robert and asked them to sell me theirs.Robert did and stated that the guitar was good but getting xray on the phone was lacking.

I received a email/facebook note from the V.P of xray complaining that I shouldn't be talking to other buyers and that she felt my comments on the first video were wrong. I explained to her that I had tried since July of 2011 to get one and that her customer service was lacking This is when she got belligerent and i stopped communicating

@bengalsfanatic9 Now xray on the other had will make it for you out of different woods, pick ups and they make bass skull and bones now too. And I am sure that Kurt will add extra paint or colors or finishing to a customer also, you just have to ask. The problem arises with the major price increase that has allot of people wondering why? my guess is that he wants to start putting them in music stores and still retain a profit that's my best guess.

@bengalsfanatic9 I really didnt want to seem like i was picking on xray as a matter of fact their guitar got praises from me in the first videos, but the fact that i started to pursue one in july of 2011 thru calls ,faxes and emails and received no responce had me buying one used from you tube and the guy said the same thing great guitar, bad customer service and I found that out after i had done all my videos THEN they start communicating. @HiOctane62 Well if your looking for a Lynch type skull and bones there are really only 4 places for them.. xray, hembry, chris woods and ed roman who just passed away last week so im not too sure if the shop will continue. But for the Lynch lover these are the places and at one time xray was $1500 dollars but now are in the middle of the road were Hembry is at $1500 xray 2500 and woods 4grand. A Les Paul which i love are in another category of guitar all together.

Yeah when Woods to me his was $4k I was like its really nice work, but more than I want to pay. X-ray I thought were nice but I still wasnt hooked on it, But I do like Scott's when I fist saw it a year ago. So that is the one I want.

@CWR01 I am sorry but i have never hear of your guitars and I am up on most skull and bones guitars. And remember that I was doing a shoot out for also price/quality/customer service and craftsmanship.. Scott Hembrys guitar not only is well made but sets the standard for prices for today's economy. Xray raised their price and alienated allot of potential buyers. If you want send me one of your guitars and I will evaluate it on my channel, but 99% of buyers want the $1500 range.

I am the guy that developed the bones guitar project with Chris Woods. I don't regularly produce these. My guitars are meant to be for people looking for a near exact replica to the original. Due to the amount of work involved with each guitar I only do a couple per year hence the high cost.

@CWR01 that could be why we have never heard of you... if and when I order a Cris Woods guitar for a shoot out in the 3- 5 grand range i will keep you in mind. I just received 2 other skull and bones guitars from 2 other makers for a review in the 2500- 3 grand range that I am doing a shoot on. These new ones are not my personal guitars like the Hembry or xray and will be sent back after review. Unfortunately I cant give out the names until the video is complete to be fair to all.

And yes a sound test is very important in which i ran it thru a mesa/ boogie, Peavey 5150 and a evh 5150iii and I judges it thru my ears and my prefrences and getting a good tone on you tube is close to impossible. And no I don't play guitar I just make a living in the studio cleaning the floor

@dokkentribute73 well if you want a hand carved piece of art then you need to pay Mr. J. Frog himself ( but he still uses a c.n.c machine) so does Chris woods.. Xray and Scott Hembry use pin routers.. all 4 Roman, xray, woods and Hembry all use different hand finishing techniques. So if your insinuating that xray is all hand carved and yours is unique think again. Its done on a pin router on a trace board, all are the same.Hand finishing may differ slightly.

And now the $1000 dollar price increase? and its true xray guitars scream a dark tone but the Hempry screams louder. I could have said that the Xray also frets out on the 14th fret and had to do work but i didnt because it was used.

It's like you say it's all personal taste, I can't really give a fair opinion because I don't play guitar to compare all of the details as far as equipment parts etc, but just to base it off the one I like the look of is the Hembry guitar. @LizaJane761 Its an honor to have " The Queen Of Lynch" even comment on my YouTube page.... lol. Yes Liza it is all personal preference. We will always have Gibson vs Fender, Chevy vs. Ford.. But the Hembry guitar is clearly more detailed than the xray in many ways and price is the big game factor here. The $1000 price increase for the xray is unwarranted and unheard of in today's economy.. hopefully he will come to his senses and get the price back down, but I highly doubt it.

I would go with the Xray anyday,Mine was #160 & it's Alder Body,& Ebony Fretboard/Maple neck it's like 8.5lbs. I just Hate the Skull on Hembry's Guitar It Looks Like SHIT. The Xray is more Detailed in Depth Deep Eyes,Killer Tone Fingers are AWESOME & Hollow Bones. I Really Love Mine.. Just Hate the SKULL on Hembry's but I paid $1,500 for mine back in '09' so im happy to have a Guitar that I told Tons of People in about 3 to 5 years would go up in Value and it Has. So if u got one Hold on 2 it.

@chadmbedwell well mine is a lil over 10 lbs and the thing is a tone monster... now to say that you hate the skull on Scott Hembrys guitar is kind of silly because the skull actually looks like a real skull and looks like it was just dug up.. the fingers on the xray are more detailed i agree.. but lets not get into a love/hate contest here.. i knew it would be 2 guitars camps against each other and thats what its not about... its about customer service, price, detailing, tone.

Any business person who has been in business and actually makes a good profit from it will tell you that a 100% price jump is not only unheard of but a nail in the coffin for a business. Some one who is advising Kurt to do this needs to go back to business 101. If Kurt is planning on consigning to music stores and keeping 100% profit is a dangerous business.

@chadmbedwell Chad.. its all our opinions.. dont take it to heart... allot of comments that I am getting are negative about xray because of price and detailing.. Its great that you love yours as i do mine, but the new 2500 dollar price is going to turn people away from it.
