Download the battlesize changer.

You can change the maximum amount of people fighting in the battle with it... up to a 1000.

Which isn't recommended, but is there nonetheless :P

one time i had an army of 140 archers going up to an army of 480 enemy troops of infantry and won!

yea archers in the new version are beast if used right the best setup that i love is having archers lined up in front for the start of the battle while the enemy hasn't connected with melee yet, then have pikemen advance in front of the archers when the enemy is advancing with calvary its unbeatable lol

well depends on how many archers vs crossbows

since crossbows do more damage and are harder to reload the best thing as tactic to use would be to give the enemy a primary target and to make them keep their backs o the crossbow fire

on arrows using them on close combat is deadly since they have good dmg and are fast at reloading

its kind of one of those games where it is the same thing over and over again but the battles are always played out differently. its good for like a game that isnt monthly payment and you can quit whenever and come right back to it once your bored of your games. kind of like Counter strike souce.

cross bows are only useful for me when seiging, and thats as an extra to pick off enemy archers and people below u,vaegir archers piss me off so bad, its sucks when you need to seige them.

the bow pwns the crossbows,, the longbow, or any other sort of bow, is based on skill, and it will strike better and cause more damage than the crossbow, if you got a high skill in archery(the archery skill is bow and throwing, not the crossbow).

that is somewhat true but because they are so strong they are used to pierce through steel armor. this game still needs a couple improvements with reality. like you shouldnt be able to cut someone if they have plate armor. Archers should not be able to wear plate armor. because you need movement and visibility as an archer. and a bit better AI. and you should only be able to kill someone with plate armor with a lance, or spears, or bolts, or a hammer to crush them

To be honest I don't really know if they did, it's just if you consider all of the horse archers they had, I'm sure you'll come to the conclusion that atleast 100 must have been armoured at a given time.

If i can but into this conversation the english longbowmen didn't wear plate armour but there were special cases were a longbowmen was considered of noble birth and they wore a sorta lighter version of a knights plate armour giving them more movment but there was no complete archer unit wearing plate armour

you dont have a weapon in your 4th weapon slot or you only have a bow and arrows in your slot and when you try to switch weapons you pull out your knuckle and sandwich

they launch faster (thus stronger impact) but it is a very long time to reload and in that time you can be interrupted by getting hit by an arrow and you have to restart the reload. thats why i won

That is one of my favorite tactics. gotta love an archer that cant be cut down by calvary. If i have the time in my busy life schedule i will make a video of my archers on a defensive sided siege. unless they add catapults i will always win defensive sieges because no one lives long enough to get halfway up the ladder. especially now that they added a hold fire command

There is a mod for catapults, its not on ALL castles, but its pretty helpful if your playing as the swads.

awesome those spirited coursers are really fast but for the sake of armor I usually get Spirited Chain Mail horses, decent defence and speed, with armor im ususaly chain mail Suit/ wicked bastard sword, and a strong kharit bow.
