I was really hoping that this album would, being the prequel to SSTB, sound a lot like it, but I was disappointed. Ah well, good album none the less.

@Sokaris84 agreed, even my uneducated ear can easily pick out some of distortions from a sample rate. I've got around 20 hours on this album now and it gets better the more you listen to it. It's a trademark of CC that as you listen and become familiar with the song you begin picking up everything that's going on along side the vocals.

Honestly this is my favorite album of theirs by far. Chris Pennie brings so much talent to drums... I mean Guns Of Summer is absolutely RIDICULOUS in terms of complexity... and all the songs sound more powerful, more roomy and more griddy because of Pennie. Plus the songs are a little more hard rock oriented at parts than previous albums, kinda like how Muse's Origin Of Symmetry had a grunge sound even though they play alternative.
