  • Beautiful city. Hope one day the old city will be rebuild as it was before WWII.

  • Koenigsberg will likely never be rebuilt to what it once was - the Russians don't really have the capability or the heart to undertake something like this. They are good at building big, gray, soulless, and inhuman concrete monstrosities (that's what they replaced the Teutonic Knights castle with). I've also read and heard that modern-day Kaliningrad is a dump - a sort of "Soviet slum". The Nazis are largely to blame for starting and losing a Russian war that lost Koenigsberg & East Prussia

  • The Russians wanted to end once and for all the Teutonic presense at their front door. They got the Brits (RAF & "Bomber Harris") to bomb Koenigsberg to rubble even though it had exteme historical and cultural value and no real value as a military target. Then they got the Western Allies to agree to the partitioning and elimination of East Prussia, which had been German since the days of the Teutonic Knights in the early 1200's. A step backward in culture IMO

  • The worse is that the castle survived the war... And the communists ordered its demolition in 1967, more than 20 years after war's end. "It represented the Prussian militarism", they said...

  • The Soviets just wanted a staging area for further expansion into Europe, military conquest made impossible with the developement of the Atomic bomb. As with territory seized from Japan, Russia could gain far more financially from a return to Germany than any economic benefit they now have. Interesting that the Russians have for decades promised an autonomous homeland for their own ethnic German minority, the Volga Germans, and here's the solution staring in their face.

  • Is always sad to see....My god!!!!!

Why russian doesn't rebuilt this city?

Doesn't be possible? Or was a clare decision to cancel all german's history of Prussia?

  • What a disaster to lose a city like this. 700 years of develpoment wiped out in a few months.

  • @vonroon23 say "Thank you" to Americans and English

  • These pictures make me really sad ... I can see all the nastiness and incivility that is in a man ....Why accept all this and the cancellation of millennia of history and culture? Stalin was a criminal......

  • @walsch80 Hitler too

  • Pity russians had to destroy all of that. Prety barbaric.

Konigsberg was very beautiful and now its one of many similar soviet cities,

    lost its personality.

    Superb video by the way.

  • @ezraumag ITS NOT RUSSIANS who bomb the city ..ONLY AMERICANS AND ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @wernernon78 Well historicaly russians did the most destroying in Konigsberg, Americans and English bombed it as strategic target, but Russian katushas and cannons did the most destroying and there were many fires and demolitions, too .. Russians vandalized it quite heavily.. (the only army which actually occupy the city was the Red army)

  • This is so beautiful. Breaks my heart!

  • Mythos Königsberg - unstillbare Sehnsucht für viele Menschen - schöne Bilder !

  • lyrics in english, rusishe or lithuanian?
