this is VERY good advice, although his comment about karate is off base. He demonstrated a kata stance NOT a fighting stance. A good Kyokushin karate fighter is well grounded and deep in his stance when throwing punches.
Im loving this vid theoretically, but I just can't get the sensation of power coming from my hips. I swivel them, I put out a cigarette butt with the back foot for the cross, I lean against a wall and swivel to try to experience extra power but I just dont feel it. Its killing me.
@faithlessaaa Are you dropping weight? This is crucial. As the foot turns into line and drives, everything above it needs to lock down into place so that the drive is transferred up the body.
Once the foot has turned, focus on bringing the whole of your body through together, rather than one bit at a time.
@revolutiongym Thanks a lot for the tips. My instructor finally straightened out what was completely blocking everything for me. I was standing in a 12.20 o'clock stance, so the left part of my body was starting where it should be ending and my right cross was so far back I was having to swivel 180 degrees to reach it out. There was an immediate diff once this was sorted out. I was making a simple basic thing into something much too complicated. Keep the vids coming! Thanks.

I'm not sure what style has to do with things. A solid punch driven from the floor using good body mechanics doesn't depend on style.

Pretty much everything in this video is based on simple physics and body mechanics. The great thing about good body mechanics is that you can apply it to any style, from karate to capoiera good mechanics will help.

Some throws then require an upward movement to pop people off the floor so the mechanic for punches doesn't always carry over.

The weight should remain down but explode forward with each punch and recoil and repeat , rather than moving down and up repeatedly ?

The key is to drop weight down into the floor whenever you are looking to drive power into the shots you are throwing.
You keep down throughout a combination. When you finished punching, then you can pop back up and move.
You don't need to drop separately on every shot although dropping as you throw a punch makes THAT punch more powerful.
