@thenerdyminecrafter It's funny you say that, because BF3 is very hardware intensive on high settings, yet almost any now "old" computer can run it fine on low, and most average computers can run it fairly well too. it just shows that Crytek didn't put nearly as much effort they put into Crysis 1. At look at Crysis warhead, still looks better then C2 and it runs fine on average machines too.

I may have said it before, but no one really analyzes what you can do with such memory. Memory is a working space that doesn't impact speed as it has no rate apart for bandwidth. 1024x1024@8:1 compression = about 384k (130 textures from 50MB).
Nothing more hilarious than console gamers claiming people who want top notch graphics, mod capabilites, processing power and high frame rates are snobs and idiots. Now, back to playing Arkham Asylum at 45+ FPS. And no, your console running Crysis 2 isn't near as pretty as mine running Crysis 1 on high/very high settings.
Plus, it is a lot easier to record and encode video on a high end PC...

This video looks really stupid now, because the final release looks like the PC version on high, except it has foliage cutbacks, and the textures on some of the enemies look a bit crap. The PC version still looks better maxed out, but the console version is not far off it, and in some ways, such as lighting, exceeds it.

@88RedShadow FAIL. It can run pretty many games at max. All PS and PS2 games CoD's and many many more but you really think peoples care about max graphics when PS3 is VERY close running games at maximum. Uncharted used only 30% of PS3 and it looked very good on bakc that day.
Uncharted 2 used almost 100% and it looked Very very VERY good.
Still it's not about maximum graphics it's about gameplay.

btw, PS2 games don't count when someone is talking about GRAFIX. Also all CODs look terrible and that's why they are so easy on resources. Most PS3 games don't even run at max and the thing can only run them at 30- fps. PS3 is 7/8 year old hardware so it's understandable that it can't run anything at max, plus it has ver little RAM.

Actualy i think youll find the consoles hae 512ram. Still sucks, but hey. The pc is was better obviously, but the difference isn't exactly huge. i'd sooner pay £200 to have slightly worse graphics than pay over £1000 for a slight improvement on a modern pc
to be honest.. as i played the game in medium, cause i had too cause otherwise my computer would explode, i was very impressed of the graphics.. and as i played high.. god... unbelieveable... how much the graphics improved the last 5 years..
this is actually a downgrade from cryengine 2 in some ways, if they made cryengine 3 for PC only then it would be a lot better (e.g. Directx 11 support) its just stupid consoles stopping technology from moving forward :(
How I wish they remake crysis 1 & warhead using cryengine 3. I would re buy the game. I don't care. I can play crysis on very high w/o AA but get 30-35 FPS, it looks great, but I get 60 FPS+ on crysis 2 Maxed ( hardcore) both @ 1440x900. p.s cryengine 3 is still tuning Dx11 and will be on other games. so its not inferior :P
Honestly I don't understand why PC uses are getting so worked up for. The engines arn't nearly as important as what developers put into the game and story as far as gameplay. So who cares if you can't see a tree on a distant island or a blur line that you won't evn noticeis missing. Games have become successful even if the graphics weren't up to date or the physics didn't quite mimic real life solely because they were enjoyable to play. And who is really gonna notice half the flaws pointed out.

@benner2000 actually it's about the same as playing consoles because 200€ console + 10 new games (normally 65€) = 850€ WITHOUT tv....500€ for a pc playing crysis 2 EASILY + 10 new games (35-45€) = 850-950€.....also you can plug in a controller and tv to your pc, go to internet, work with photoshop etc etc etc etc
@CrimnlBT Yes but most of them don't buy the games new. Some game shops sell 4 pre-owned games for €10, but you can't buy 2nd hand PC games since they have used registration codes.
Too bad Crysis 2 didn't live to anywhere near this amount of detail. Hopefully DX11 will make the PC version a small bit better at least. Tech demos mean absolutely nothing as games never look the same on release
I understand this video is to show comparison between the two engines but the way it is played out makes it seem like a bash(and sad truth) about the consoles lack to give the full power the engine needs.....makes me want to sell mine for a pc :)
ok i have played original crysis in the highest setting with the best graphics card but the last part of your video of that guy, that is not real time is it. I mean thats not what high end power pc's can do in Real time gameplay.
CE2 is better than CE3 in virtually every way except performance. It was dumbed down for console users, which I daresay, are the cancer that is killing the FPS genre.

That to me is much more interesting than just Quake 3 with better graphics.

@shinryu1285 console gaming is more a of a social experience, it's designed so that you can hook up with your friends online and chat and have a good time with a game in the comfort of your living room. if you want more out of a game then PC is obviously the way to go, with its amazing graphics, free DLC, and much more competitive community. it's really a preference, hardcore gamers tend to lean toward PC while more social gamers who play for fun go for consoles. i find myself in the middle.
Although interesting, this really doesn’t show off the capabilities of CE2 vs CE3. Although the PS3 is the most powerful of the consols, its RSX chip is basically an over clocked GeForce 7800 which is tech from 2005. The fact they got Crysis on the PS3 to look the way it does is pretty impressive. The inability to look as good on the Ps3 as it did on PC is not due to the limitation of the CE3, but do to the limitations of the PS3.

@bf2lover42 The PC version of CryEngine 3 supports up to DirectX 11 and many advanced features, including some real-time global illumination algorithms. Crytek just didn't use them on CRysis 2 (yet). But all those features will be available to any other developer who licenses CryEngine 3.

I'm sorry if my choice of words was terrible, but I was just trying to explain this guy that the game engine is running the same way. You'd have to use Crytek modding tools and make it run on larger textures, but they haven't released them yet.

CryEngine 3 is horrible. It's built to deal with memory and rendering issues of the console. You're better off sticking with CE2 which was designed for the computer exclusively. They just advertised CE3 as the better engine so PCfags don't get overly pissed and not pre-order their product. It's buggy as fermented shit and lacks the ability to customize and go further than it's already strained to be.

In my opinion, Crysis was and still is, one of the most graphical games on the planet. Although, it may soon be outmached with future gaming abilities.
to clear things up... this video was showing how the 4 year older cryengine 2, which was made specifically for pc and so was much heavier on graphics, is still better today than the new cryengine 3, that had to comprimise graphics because crytek wanted to put the game on consoles.
This exactly how Crysis 2 is on PC with CE3. Limited draw distance, blurry textures etc. All of the in game settings, three of them, feel like medium to high settings, not the Very High quality of C1.
@tehdaza it's kind of not fair to compare a gaming PC to a console. Because PC can go to the extreme graphics while the consoles can only do so much at this time. (which is why, as you explained in the video, the draw distance is tiny)

i played cry 2 on pc and my game lags on full settings. from what i saw, the graphics are better than cry 1. since i cant play on full settings i'll prolly just get the console version
uhmm...that's a shitty 360, do u know how slow those things are? well I have sandbox 3 on my pc(downloaded the leak(still gonna buy)(it's a little buggy)) and the graphics settings goes in this order Very High, High, Medium, PS3, 360, Low. When I run 360 specs on my asus g73 laptop it only uses about 10% of my i7 720qm processor, and about 30% of my 5870m gpu. Oh and ps3 is about 2x as fast as the 360, and the NGP(psp2) is almost as fast as the ps3, soo....yeah

We're the once getting upgraded in the hardware department whenever we want, yet console gamers are using a system with components from 2005. Don't talk about pricing, PCs are for people who can afford them. Because they are better.

The graphics may have been improved for consoles since then, but what matters is that the CryEngine 3 was SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED with PC gamers in mind. CryTek just had to do some graphical adjustments for the console kids.

@88RedShadow FAIL. It can run pretty many games at max. All PS and PS2 games CoD's and many many more but you really think peoples care about max graphics when PS3 is VERY close running games at maximum. Uncharted used only 30% of PS3 and it looked very good on bakc that day.
Uncharted 2 used almost 100% and it looked Very very VERY good.
Still it's not about maximum graphics it's about gameplay.

btw, PS2 games don't count when someone is talking about GRAFIX. Also all CODs look terrible and that's why they are so easy on resources. Most PS3 games don't even run at max and the thing can only run them at 30- fps. PS3 is 7/8 year old hardware so it's understandable that it can't run anything at max, plus it has ver little RAM.

@slapnut892 to many console buyers that is a fortune - maybe not in the grand scheme of things, but for a games machine it is. Especially when you consider we spend 200 quid on our inferior machines. If I had the money to spend 600, I would definitely buy a decent PC, or build my own. But I don't. It's all relative, one day 600 quid won't be a fortune for me and I will buy a PC....or a PS4...

What's the point of crysis 1 with Dx10 if 1/2 of players can't even play it on max. I can play crysis on very high w/o AA but get 30-35 FPS, it looks great, but I get 60 FPS+ on crysis 2 Maxed ( hardcore) both @ 1440x900. p.s cryengine 3 is still tuning Dx11 and will be on other games. so its not inferior :P

Honestly I don't understand why PC uses are getting so worked up for. The engines arn't nearly as important as what developers put into the game and story as far as gameplay. So who cares if you can't see a tree on a distant island or a blur line that you won't evn noticeis missing. Games have become successful even if the graphics weren't up to date or the physics didn't quite mimic real life solely because they were enjoyable to play. And who is really gonna notice half the flaws pointed out.

@benner2000 actually it's about the same as playing consoles because 200€ console + 10 new games (normally 65€) = 850€ WITHOUT tv....500€ for a pc playing crysis 2 EASILY + 10 new games (35-45€) = 850-950€.....also you can plug in a controller and tv to your pc, go to internet, work with photoshop etc etc etc etc

Whether or not you like the direction FPS games are going, it doesn't mean that the genre is dying, just that it's changing. Sure, Quake style hardcore FPS games are going away, but we're getting more hybrids. Prey 2, Rage, and the new Deus Ex are all role-playing FPS games. That to me is much more interesting than just Quake 3 with better graphics.

Problem is just that the consoles can't use all the effects. Doesn't mean the effects aren't supported by CE3. On the contrary. CE3 is a further development of CE2. @shinryu1285 console gaming is more a of a social experience, it's designed so that you can hook up with your friends online and chat and have a good time with a game in the comfort of your living room. if you want more out of a game then PC is obviously the way to go, with its amazing graphics, free DLC, and much more competitive community. it's really a preference, hardcore gamers tend to lean toward PC while more social gamers who play for fun go for consoles. i find myself in the middle.

Although interesting, this really doesn’t show off the capabilities of CE2 vs CE3. Although the PS3 is the most powerful of the consols, its RSX chip is basically an over clocked GeForce 7800 which is tech from 2005. The fact they got Crysis on the PS3 to look the way it does is pretty impressive. The inability to look as good on the Ps3 as it did on PC is not due to the limitation of the CE3, but do to the limitations of the PS3.

CryEngine 3 is horrible. It's built to deal with memory and rendering issues of the console. You're better off sticking with CE2 which was designed for the computer exclusively. They just advertised CE3 as the better engine so PCfags don't get overly pissed and not pre-order their product. It's buggy as fermented shit and lacks the ability to customize and go further than it's already strained to be.

uhmm...that's a shitty 360, do u know how slow those things are? well I have sandbox 3 on my pc(downloaded the leak(still gonna buy)(it's a little buggy)) and the graphics settings goes in this order Very High, High, Medium, PS3, 360, Low. When I run 360 specs on my asus g73 laptop it only uses about 10% of my i7 720qm processor, and about 30% of my 5870m gpu. Oh and ps3 is about 2x as fast as the 360, and the NGP(psp2) is almost as fast as the ps3, soo....yeah

@DeadlyPear uhm there was only video of CE2 on pc and video from crytek of CE3 on 360, did you even read my comment? it's literally impossible to make sense of how ur reply correlates to my comment at all, and it doesn't matter what was in the vid cause i even said i compared 360 spec to very high w/ CE3 myself, and 360 spec barely touched my laptop's gpu or cpu. Also ps3 is technically 2x as fast, it does 2TFLoPs and 360 does only 1TFLoPs.

i do not understand why people compare cryengine 2 to CONSOLE VERSIONS of cryengine 3. cryengine 3 on pc will be far superior to the consoles,so i do not understand why you would make a comparison to the consoles

The PSP2 will have more power than your computer, well it must have because you're saying PS3 has better graphics. Obviously never played on a powerful computer.
Also, this video isn't even in full HD, you have no idea whatsoever how good full HD PC gaming really is.

@Filnizer You can't argue an opinion as fact. The fact is, CryEngine is better on PC because PCs generally have much higher graphical power than any console there ever will be. We're the once getting upgraded in the hardware department whenever we want, yet console gamers are using a system with components from 2005. Yes, 6 years later you still have to use the same parts - whilst I just upgraded mine.
Don't talk about pricing, PCs are for people who can afford them. Because they are better.

People dont know what CE3 can even do yet! Once crysis 2 comes out you all will see that its the best. There will be mods and visual tweaks that will even make it better. Trust me march22 will change gaming forever

PC kids like us have to remember that this was a CONSOLE DEMO THAT WAS 2 YEARS AGO
The graphics may have been improved for consoles since then, but what matters is that the CryEngine 3 was SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED with PC gamers in mind. CryTek just had to do some graphical adjustments for the console kids.
I don't have a doubt that Crysis 2 will kick ass.

good games ain't defined by their graphics. when the obsession gets this ridiculous, it isn't a game any more-- it's a tech demo. step back and watch this video from another perspective, and the differences between the two are laughably insignificant. one of my favorite games is team fortress 2, and it sure as hell isn't because it has uber-realistic graphics.
