  • sadly these days are long gone-this was the last time wrestling was really fun!

  • love how savage jumped in on him..lol!!!

  • "hands of stone"Ronnie Garvin.I've seen him before with his hair like that.Garvin looked so much better with his crewcut.

  • LMAO at the end

  • lol @ 2:29. 'Leaping' Randy Poffo.

RIP Savage. You were the man

  • @ourfinalrequiem LMAO!!! It looked like an old 80'S slow motion dive... LOL...

  • I remember staying up on Saturday night to watch ICW. I got to meet Macho Man and he was a great guy. Nothing like the character he played. Saw him wrestle in high school gyms and other places in front of 100-200 people tops. I still have an ICW bumper sticker and calendar from this promotion. Rest in peace Macho Man.

  • The birth of a legend; we'll miss you Macho Man!

  • Can you say: Macho Man! OOh yeah!

  • Garvin needs glasses, he didn't see Randy running across the studio..LOL

  • Look at the end , it looks like Savage is really hitting him.

  • Ole Anderson took on Randy at the old TBS studio in Atlanta. Afterwards, he said, "They ought to name (Angelo) Poffo's kid 'Savage.' He sure as hell wrestled like one." That's how he got the name.

  • That music at the end was used by the Midnight express.

  • WHATS GOIN ON HERE?? GET BACK OVER THERE!

  • LEAPING LANNY WILDFIRE TOMMY RICK THEY ALL FELL VICTIM TO MY DREADED PURPLE NURPLE JELLLLLYYY BEEELLLLLYYYYY OHHHHHHHH YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

  • dam...theres only a handfull of people there...this sux..

  • i remember watching this

  • "savage, your brother is much better than you are!" damn that ronnie garvin had an eye for talent..lmao he called that one boy!

  • Savage acted and looked like a deranged hobo.

  • early Macho Man footage. classic. his best work was his early days.

  • Google ICW Poffo Universe

It will bring you to the ICW Poffo website compiled to chronicle The Poffo's independent wrestling promotion in the mid south from 1979- 1985 .

Tons of ads for house shows ( over 700 on the site) . Pictures of the Macho Man from high school; match listings Lanny and Randy bouts from Phil Goldens All Star Wrestling from 1973.Pictures of Randy's great wardrobe .This is the most comprehensive site dedicated to the Poffo's .

  • @Poffomaniac

thanks alot for the link man. i love randy, lanny, and angelo as well, and quit watching wrestling after about 2002, not because i was no longer entertained, but because i realized that there could never possibly be a wrestler any better than the macho man. great stuff.

  • Does anyone have, or even remember seeing, the ICW show where Ronnie gets supposedly injected with something that makes him foam at the mouth and lose his match that week?

  • Pay no mind to the drunken Frenchman behind the curtain! He's just another smark with a big mouth and a chip on his shoulder. Savage actually IS Lanny Poffo, but from another dimension! Through the videoscope, yeah...

  • Randy savage got hoops at 2:30

  • Randy Savage leaping at the end...LOL!!!!

  • First time i see Ronnie without his bleached hairs.

  • guess that sort of thing happened all the time in ICW...judging by the announcer's epic no-sell. "Ah hell, Randy's always jumping on people, why should I try to sell extra for that crazy sumbitch..."

  • Wow. Savage literally flew outta nowhere with that leap!

  • good times

  • It wasn't all an angle garvin and savage didn't like each other for real

  • bullshit... The picture shows Randy Savage screwing Stephanie Mcmahon

  • ooosh ya

  • LOL See that little jump Savage did to start the attack?

  • AHAHAHA that announcer doesn't sell it at all

  • Hard to believe Garvin would eventually win the NWA title (back when the NWA title meant something). His stepson (Terry) had more charisma and talent than he ever did and the best he got was being a member of the Freebirds (vol. 2)

Garvin as NWA champ was almost if not more pathetic than Tommy Rich. He won the belt, took a month or two off then had a match against Flair and lost it.

It's still fun to watch these old tapes knowing what we know now and seeing the evolution of the guys.

  • @ RowdyRodimus ROnnie Garvie was never a member of the Freebirds...that was his brother Gorgeous Jim Garvin

  • @SATANSCHILD954

You are kinda both right. RowdyRodimus was saying Terry Garvin was a member of the Freebrids which, as you pointed out, is incorrect as it was Jimmy. However, in real life, though billed as his brother, Ron was actually Jimmy's step-dad. (Terry, though also billed as a brother was actually related to neither)

  • lol the commentator had no reaction what so ever as they were fighting in front of him

  • The commentator didn't do his part. He didn't look shocked. He just stepped out of the way and said Randy had jumped in.

I guess I'm spoiled. I grew up with having Gordon Solie....the best wrestling announcer...EVER!

  • RANDY THE MACHO MAN PUFFLE lol

  • Ladies an gents this is wrestling was all about ! vintage wrestling.

  • "Ladies and gentlemen, randy savage just coming in"

    UNDERSTATEMENT MUCH???

or did his body flying past you clue you in to that fact...

  • WHEW WEE, that was some killer news dude. His brother, wow.

  • Well this WAS 29 years ago dude..

  • cranky people!

  • I'm really suprised that the WWF never acknowledged Randy and Lanny as brothers.

  • Bob Orton Jr., also had a brother in the WWF, Barry O. that was never acknowledged either.

  • lol

a t-bone steak in his pants. that was his own damn fault.

  • I knew it all along...Lanny and Randy are Poffos and their dad's name is Angelo.

  • Ya Name is Poffo!!! woooow lol

  • I love how the crowd doesn't respond at all to the expose, and then the commentator just stands calmly as two of the top wrestlers in the territory are brawling at his feet.

  • Lanny smacked his bro pretty good.

  • Yeah that was a damn good smack.

  • 2:30 - "...SPAAAARTAAAAAAA!!!"

  • That leap from Savage onto Garvin!!!

Its so fantastic I want it as a aviatar LMAO!!

    Back 'n' forth.. CLASSIC!

  • isn't that the mid-nite express theme song playing in the backround?

  • This was actually pretty taboo at the time, calling a wrestler by his real name. It was an angle, sure, but angles like that were extremely rare for a long, long time. Good find.

  • ZZZzzzZZZZZ

    Its not boring.

    ZZZZzzzzZZ yeah u were Ron

  • i met ronnie garvin about 7 years ago....he was flying a DC-3 for a charter company out of south carolina....he seemed like a pretty nice dude, wish i would've got his autograph...

  • Thanks for posting that, Great memories! :-)

  • I'd also be ashamed to be Lanny's brother. LOL!

  • Well...Ron is actually his step-father. They're only separated by 7 yrs. in age.

  • ronnie garvin is jimmy garvin father

  • How can the announcer be so calm when a fight suddenly breaks out right in front of him?

  • Lance Russell was the king of that.

  • I remember watching this on Saturday morning back in the day. The description is exactly right---these kind of angles were unheard of at that time. Memphis Wrestling had some good ones at that time, too, stuff that you would never see from some of the bigger promotions.

  • This is why I loved wrestling as a kid. Exciting as hell. Ronnie Garvin and Leaping Lanny totally kicked ass.

My family moved around the time of all the speculation of who "The Best" was (a mysterious masked wrestler). So we didn't get that channel anymore, WTVQ 62. Anyone know if he was ever unmasked and his identity revealed?

  • 'YOU'RE NOTHIN' BUT A SCUM BAG! THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE, YOU'RE A DOG!!'

LOL, this shit is awesome!! The lady screaming when Savage jumps Garvin is a howl. How can that interviewer be so calm through all this??

  • Ha!! A lady screams when savage jumps the guy

  • looking at Rugged Ronnie back then as now...I you think about it, He didn't even resemble the way he did in the NWA...I used to think that he and Sting looked an awful lot alike...It was the Blonde flat top I think...

  • YOU'RE NAME IS POFFLE!!! (like waffle)

    lol!

  • that outro music use to be the theme of the midnight express

  • Yeah, i had noticed that also lol. Good catch on that

  • hahaha. randy is the best, when he leaped out of nowhere i pissed myself laughing. when that guy says 'you are a scumbag' that was a nice line too.

  • how the hell is the announcer gonna stay cool after seeing someone fly out of nowhere and continue talking like he's at church? ROFL!!!!!!!!

  • lol. He's used to it? Savage always did that back then.

  • @azeron112 Yeah it was like "oh, that's normal."

  • @azeron112

Yeah. At least Larry Nelson would have had the wherewithal to yell "MAYDAY!! Someone HELP!"

  • Big revalation we all knew randy savage brother was the poet, then the genius lanny poffo. leaping lanny poffo. My favorite memory of savage is when he took the bell to ricky steamboat's throat.

  • At this point in time, unless people had followed them from ICW and followed their careers thus far they wouldn't have been able to tell.

  • lanny wasn't better than randy but he was a damn good wrestler that didn't get the push he deserved.

  • lol at that open hand slap Lanny hit Macho with.

  • The punches were stiff... and that theme was the same theme the Midnight Express used when they debuted in the NWA with Jim Cornette.

  • Were those real punches hard to tell if it was a work

  • The southern style was known for being very stiff anyway, but Lanny and Randy being brothers and their dad being the mizer angelo poffo i say they were taught to be stiff

  • wow. that's what ronnie garvin's har really looks like

  • I like how casually the announcer goes to break a melee breaks out. Also, gotta love that crowd. Stereotypical "hick wrestling fans."

  • isn't lanny poffo the guy who played the "genious" in wwf and was with mr. perfect?

  • yeah same guy

  • yup that's him

  • Classic stuff. This was the days when you wasn't 100% sure if it was real or fake.

Did you see that LEAP Savage took? This

is/was WRESTLING. Hope your reading this Vince, Wrestling...not Sports Entertainment.

  • LMAO he was talkin smack then randy jumped on him in slow motion LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hahaha!!! ohh man this is awesome!!!

  • that was funny as hell to see savage come out of nowhere and jump over the table hilarious

  • I like the sold out arena of 10 people.

I think it was a family reunion

  • Macho man was all ways the shit

  • hah! lanny poffo is better that randy savage. that made me die

  • Lanny is his lil bro!

  • Did anyone know that Ronnie is actually gay?

  • get the fuck out of here.....

  • lol i didnt

  • No, that was one of his phony "brothers" along with Jimmy. The guy in question got into serious harassment trouble as a WWF employee. It wasn't Ronnie.

  • Terry Garvin used to be with them,(Ronnie and Jimmy) and he was the wrestler that was Gay and got in trouble with the then WWF. I do believe he has passed. Terry Garvin and Ronnie Garvin were both Canadian as well.

  • The announcer no selling the attack was dynamite...and the Midnight Express theme music was tight too...

  • ron one of the best i like to watch him

  • I love how the announcer no-sells Savage's attack. Now that's keeping his composure.

By the way, Ronnie Garvin cuts the worst promo "It's not boring it's an exposie on you Savage!"

  • awesome clip! widely known fact, but i didnt know footage like this existed!! great stuff!

  • nice dive at the end..lol. I once caught a towel Ronnie Garvin threw into the crowd in WWF day, no chit.....

  • Thanks for this clip! I never knew it existed until now. Ronnie Garvin with long hair!

  • Today, it would be a gay expose. I miss those days of innocence.

  • this is great. i miss the days when we hadnt seen it all before

  • yeah lanny was always beter than randy, what a truck load of bollocks that comment was, good footage though.

  • Where is Ronnie Garvin today? I loved watching that guy.

  • He is an aviator now, and reportedly he loves his job much more than any of his time as a wrestler.

  • I remember this promotion. It had a lot of future stars (Randy Savage, Leaping Lanny, Pistol Pez Whatley, Bob Orton, Ronnie Garvin), but my favorites were a tag team known as the "Convertable Blondes" and a masked wrestler known as "The Miser" who was later outed as Angelo Poffo, Randy and Leaping Lanny's dad. I also remember an episode where Angelo Poffo did sit-ups for the entire length of the program. Truly classic stuff.

  • I remember this being the big talk on the playground the next day. Their dad was Angelo "The Miser" Poffo.

  • I loved Garvin. He was a "blue collar" type wrestler.

  • were they fighting for real at the end or was it scripted??

  • Well, it looks like they are really trying to kick each others ass, after the part where he jumps on him.

  • It's fake ya know! ;)

  • Real physicality though

  • wow its nice to see this

    macho man is my hero

  • this is awesome stuff man randy savage looked different back in the day

  • This kind of wrestling needs to come back!

  • Tell me about it! I saw this when it was first on TV. It was about 1980.

  • LOL! there is a huge brawl in front of the announcer (2:32)and he is so calm!

  • What the hell was up with Ronnie Garvin's hair back then?

  • Ronnie Garvin this is Randy Savage your an asshole bruda fuck you Garvin.

  • classic stuff

  • I remember this. Great stuff.

  • I love the announcer just chillin while the guys fought!!HAHA!! Classic!!

  • and I dont mind to expose this man....Lanny dont mind!

  • Ronnie Garvin, your name ISN'T Garvin!! And you and Jimmy Garvin AREN'T brothers!! Mwahahaha....

  • nope, ronnie is jimmy's step-father believe it or not!

  • The promo was great. The end was best. When Savage jumps Garvin and they Hammer each other and the announcer stands there calm as can be as says lets have a commercial break LOL too funny.

  • savage has mad ups, good form too hahah

  • HAHAHA, and announcer man couldn't be more calm at a man flying through the air onto someone else to fight..

  • very cool

  • cool videos!

  • I just gotta see Randy leeping into the scnene in slow motion! lmao that was great!!

  • in the wwf it was hard to believe that Randy Savage and Leaping Lanny Poffo were brothers...

    more videos on my profile

  • Breaking kayfabe before breaking kayfabe was cool.

  • Did you know that Ronnie Garvin was born in Montreal Quebec Canada.

  • randy should have offered up some of his 8ball

  • For a former baseball player, Randy Savage did a lot better than Pete Rose in wrestling. But Savage is a nut abd Ronnie Garvin was born in MOntreal, Quebec indeed.

  • I'd like to know where in Omaha this was shot. Great Video!

  • They all were pretty small before the roids. This angle is a classic. Ronnie Garvin does perhaps the best promo he's done in his whole career. That announcer's reaction being stiff was actually perfect and I laughed my ass off as they "calmy" went to break as the chaos ensues. Now that's how to cut to commercial people!!!!

  • savage was small before the roids.

  • Gotta love the old Midnight Express theme song right before they go to commericial break.

  • Hahah i was just thinking the same thing,i was very young when this icw was on tv but ya i always dug that funky ass music

  • Nothing says "80s wrestling" like "Chase" playing. A lot. I love seeing edgy stuff like this, it's a billion times better than the immature humor on Raw each week.

  • I loved these TV angles. The big bloated WWE shows today with the boring backstage crap makes me miss the old local territory shows a lot.

  • Looks like that match in the video Garvin produced was a sell-out. They sold all 20 seats.

  • WOW GREAT! Thanks!!

  • I'd be ashamed to be Lanny Poffo's brother too if he had "Leaping" in front of his name. Wasn't Lanny a little fruity as a character? I remember him as The Genius.

  • Savage got pimp smacked. And why was that announcer so calm when Savage jumped Garvin? He was lame.

  • The dive by Savage is nice as hell. And the old vids are appreciated keep them coming.

  • watch savage leap at the end......

  • great classic stuff here..thanks for posting it

  • This was good stuff. Definitely breaking kayfabe here. Macho is hilarious in these videos. I wish wrestling still had that shock factor. Everything is predictable now.

  • Always wanted to see stuff from the Poffo's territory. Good stuff, but damn, Garvin was wretched on the mic.
