  • @MrClifton17 - Thanks for the info. I'm glad the core brass/woodwinds trio - along with Lamm - is there, but none of the others really bring back the great Chicago sound the departed ones provided.

  • @newspapertaxis1 -- Hendrix said Kath was his favorite guitarist.

  • @kmars21 -- I agree! It's a shame he's no longer with them.

  • Can't overstate how awesome these guys are..Each member had a favorite but could play each other's instrument and sing each other's part at will.

  • tHE ORIGINAL BAND WAS GREAT TERRY KATH VERY VERY UNDERRATED

  • kick ass song!

  • Thank you Lord for having me be born when I was (1967). Everytime you turned on the radio, every song was a great one. Never had to turn the station. The kids now? You think 30 years from now there will be a song like THIS? One describing the great times from NOW? Can just imagine. What are they gonna sing about? Justin Beebhead? Lady Goo Goo. Text mesaging? Ford Focuses? High gas prices? Foreclosure. Gonna take one talented band to wax nostagically about THESE DAYS. Yikes.

  • @keithmc6 Indeed, '67's my year, too, and this song really takes me back. I love yer comment!

  • man take me back

  • This is what I call music!

  • Check out Danny Seraphine with his band "California Transit Authority" - They Blow Away the new Chicago !!!!

  • Todd, Playing your Favorite song for you today, as they lay you in the ground. Your Spirit will always be with me. Oh, how I wish for the " Old Days" to be back again. Nothing will ever be the same without you. Now, you know everything., All was never lost. Love, jacqueline.

  • Has to be the best song ever made all ways listen to it

  • I was born in '64. Seems like all through that '70s childhood...school playground, washing the car with dad, little league practice... Chicago was the AM radio soundtrack to life.

  • @takfam07 Awesome comment dude..I hear you..same year too..just a bunch of old farts..Howdy Doody was before our time but apparently not Jim's when he wrote the song. Soundtrack to life for sure. Brings back so many good memories.

  • This LP came out with a t-shirt iron on, of the album cover.

  • damn this brings back driving my 1969 Mustang Convertible around with 2-3 girls hanging out the back. Tampa the Hillsborough Terriers 1974 gone forever............

  • hell yes one of the best song ever wrote

  • @kirikugio Yes you are correct. It is one of the best songs ever written.

  • 1975. I wasn't even a teenager yet. What was it that made those 1970's summer days so amazing? God help me - God help me I loved them so :)

  • @holyfuckareyoustupid, imagine born in "68 I was like 7 years old, oh my where have the days gone?

  • @latinlolita1968 - Hopefully places where songs like this can bring them back! Speaking of "bringing them back", I was walking down State St in Madison WI in 1994 and some coeds were coming the other way. One really cute girl said to her friends "What is it that I love about Chicago?" I thought, what the hell? So I smiled and said - "Rock with horns!" That's when she kneed me in the crotch! Later the doctor said "I'm sorry, they were both destroyed and had to be removed" True story :(

  • My favorite Chicago song!!! Thanks for posting!!!

  • i couldnt agree more mamad1997

  • These are the songs of yesturday when life was good, love was real and good. Love listening to the songs that take me back in time ..... Wish I could turn back time would be Awesome.........

  • good

  • yeh they all play like I would

  • La veu de Peter Cetera en aquesta cançó és impressionant

  • horns and backup vocals on this really put the icing on the cake

  • @juliano66 string section back in the mix adds a note of sweetness, too.

  • 4 people have a terrible memory.

  • yes it was a more simple time for sure., and I love the music of the 70''s. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the songs today but back in the 70's there was something left to the imagination which is not today. There is a comedian whose name escapes me, but he said in a movie, "with all the sucking and licking and blowing in the songs today you have to wear a condom just to listen to them" and he is right!

  • I envy those that grew up in this time period. Better music, better world.

  • Drive in movies,...comic books and blue jeans..........doesn't get any better than this.

  • @sledj567

    Howdy Doody?

  • I bought this album and it had a iron on for tee shirts. it was of the red cardinal. as hard as I tried I could not get it to stay on right.

  • chicago is the shit.. terry kath was as good as hendrix.. on one particular night jimi hendrix introduced chicago transit authority and terry kath as the greatest guitarist in the universe.

  • this takes me back to the good old days and I'm only 15

  • 3 people rather want these days with Justin Beiber!

  • to rbsvy91368 now u are showing ur age hey i enjoyed am radio too

  • thumps so if you are here because this song is in Strasky and Hutch

  • Probably the best band to ever come out of Chicago. A bit of history here: I first saw what became Chicago at a great bar, named Barnaby's where State and Rush came together in 1967. Those were the days when all the band members would come down from the overhead stage and mingle....luckily, my brother hit it off with a couple of them, so we got to rub elbows with them. They play top 40 hits better than the orignal recording artists. Bar Trivia: original name was The Big Thing.

  • Man i still Love this song i remember when i was a child all AM STATIONS.

  • Chicago, 3 dog night, Dr Hook... Rock n Roll Hall Please!

  • I can't believe that they are not in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

  • Take me back to a world gone away....I would go back to the 70's in a heartbeat. Good friends, good music, good times.

  • Hears this song since my childhood, still doesn't get old.

  • How can anyone NOT like this song?

  • @sledj567always a few trolls... it's what they do

  • Great music I loved this growing up. fun days is right

  • 2 people didn't have very good old days.

  • good stuff real music !!!!

    the silent one's

  • The last great Chicago song

  • They say, that one cannot take anything with them, when they pass. But I do believe that a song and music is something one can take, when one crosses over! This is a beautiful song.... ref: whiteTigress1968

  • Ive seen Chicago 3 times and numerous other concerts.....and no one can compete with their showmanship

  • Damn! Danny Seraphine could lay down a beat.

  • @kmars21 yeah but the trumpets really kicked ass too!!!

  • @survivrs Actually the brass section consisted of 1 trumpet, 1 trombone and, I believe, a sax.

  • @kmars21 You are damn right buddy ! ! !

  • @kmars21 Yes, he was amazing. I just don't understand what happened to him. Unless I'm mistaking, he was kicked out for "not practicing", and "not being up to par". I don't get it.

  • Recordar es Vivir,Dios Bendiga a CHICAGO

  • klondike999, listen to Listen by CTA, that is a bass and horn section, great song.

  • I am awesome

  • que creatividad, que talento, que sonido, volver a escuchar a Chicago es un deleite

  • Jimi Hendrix was quoted as saying "Terry Kath is the best guitar player in the universe".

  • Oh, yes! This makes me smile!!

  • Terry Kath kicks ass with those riffs...well, the whole band really kicks ass on this one.

  • Funny how when I hear this I think of old days in the seventies.

  • @gles1963 thats what it was meant to do haha

  • nice!!!

  • Cars made of steel, and not plastic. A million dollars would last A lifetime. Our VOTE still was counted (and not just someone pretending) And the old cars were made B.C. too!(before Chips) and you still could fix them yourself.

  • One person dislikes this classic track?

He must be a fan of lady gaga!!

  • Ya old days...Real Gas, (No corn added) Real steel Pa steel workers, No cell phones, You got home for dinner, and eat as a family.70"s Muscle cars.. Bring BIG money now days. Iam 50 yrs old. So1975 i remember very well..

  • @0penminded2u Same here in Ohio! Old Days was one of my high school marching band songs. Old times are good times.

  • thanks this song from Japan I am 56 old

  • Gran canción, tenía 12 años cuando la oí por primera vez, al cabo de 35 años evoco años de juegos, circo, paseos y de las playas de la Costa Verde, días seguros sin problemas. Un oasis temporal. Gracias Chicago. Buena salud.

  • There's one fool who voted thumbs down....are you serious?!

  • Chicago hit #5 in Billboard, 6-7-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @jazzrockblend Amen to that.

  • I saw them live in Foxboro Mass., Schafer Stadium (NE Patriots home)

  • when this song came out are the old days i remember now.

  • Who could dislike this, seriously? This music is pure golden compared to the SHIT nowadays man, Oh I wish I lived in this era, where descent music was produced :(

  • BTW I got hit by a car and almost killed coming home on Friday January 13th 1978. Hubert Humphrey's day of death

  • Mr. Humphrey - nice guy he was not a shit head DFLer. He at least had 3/4th of his brain.

  • Thumbs Up for the Old Days!!!

  • Great song! When I was growing up, a TV station in my city used it in promos for the old TV shows they were airing. I also remember a time in my life when things seemed to go crazy and listening to this song helped me remember when life was easier. There are some parts of the past I wouldn't mind revisiting, others not so much. Thanks for posting this classic.

  • The 70's was really that last generation period after WWII. You still had that remnant spirit in the world from the1950's and 1960's left off.

  • Terry Kath was unique. It's a day early, but I remember him each and every year around his death date of January 23rd 1978. I will never forget. His music lives on with me forever. I just loved "Chcago's music back in the day. R.I.P TERRY KATH!

  • @HippieNiecey That 6 month period was the worst in music history with Elvis Presley's death in August,Bing Crosby's death in October, and Terry Kath's death in January.

  • I agree with this. We have had alot of good talents go. But their music lives on. We continure to lose good people. There is no replacing Terry.

  • @HippieNiecey and unfortunatly we arn't relly gaining new talent

  • @HippieNiecey i agree. There was only one Terry.

  • What Album is this from???

  • @Artie6943 Chicago VIII (1975).

  • The song is about the 50's, but it takes me straight back to the '70s. Love it!

  • @ottlakerambler Me too

  • The song is about the 50's, but it takes me back to my 70d youth. Love it.

  • Yeah, what a song. Didn't have Howdy Doody, or street cars in my home town. And yes, I would love to go back to 1975, when this was released. The good days!

  • F***ing Awesome Jam! I love the 70's rock sound...

  • Danny's fill at 3:05 is insane.

  • I always listen to this song while jogging on the beach :-)

  • @outlaw6066

Like Ben Stiller in Starsky & Hutch ?! ;-)

  • Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay

Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away

Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free

Old days - days of magic still so close to me

Old days - in my mind and in my heart to stay

Old days - darkened dreams of good times gone away

Old days - days of love and feeling fancy free

Old days - days of magic still so close to me

  • wow! only music video on YouTube with 0 dislikes!

  • I remember my grandmother telling about streecars, only cost a nickel.

  • Good tune the last minute of the song bugs me a little. Intresting note that Peter Cetera hated the Howdy Doody lyric in the song. Everytime i hear this now im gonna think of Starsky and Hutch lol.

  • It's amazing how this song can make us all feel such strong emotions. And for once, I don't see any arguments down below! I'll always remember the old days, and I'll always want to relive them.

  • Love love love this song!!

  • I just met Danny Seraphine last week here on Long Island. What a great guy and great drummer. Check out his new book if you get the chance.

  • @jeffhickman10 he left the band early- didn't he?

  • @roselandalvin I believe it was Mothers Day 1990.

  • @roselandalvin Yes he was with the Band from Dec., 1967-he was the last one to join of the original 7 and left in May 1985. He was with them for 18 years. Prior to that he was w/ a band called the Exceptions and asked if he could join.

  • @jeffhickman10 I just finished reading his book it was great i still cant get over that he was fired. I have a feeling it was all about money

  • In 30 years, we'll look back at 2010 as the good old days.

  • @SvenDansk7 Not musically we won't.

  • The "Old Days" I would like to go back to is 1999. My life has been a dissapointment ever since. Great tune though!

  • @SixFeetUndr101 All of our lives have --- Before 1999 and after ---You're not alone by any stretch

  • This album was released several months before the Greatest Hits album. Since OLD DAYS was fairly new when Greatest Hits(#9) came out,the song didn't appear on the compilation.

  • Very ELO-ish.

  • This is Musak

  • I had this song played as the "departing" song at my dad's funeral. My brother said it was too upbeat of a song. I told him that our dad loved music like this, and the point in having something a bit upbeat at the end was to hopefully lift everyone's spirits a little, and to also bring back good memories.

  • @WhiteTigress1968 your dad probably would have agreed with you.

  • @WhiteTigress1968 i agree with what you did 100% and im sure you dad would have too if he could have told you so

  • @WhiteTigress1968 You were rigth. I'm sure your dad was grateful.

  • Awesome vocals, Mr. Cetera..........Timeless............One of my all time favorite songs....It gives everyone a fuzzy feeling inside thinking back to simplier times...This came out when I was in college..........:):).

  • This is how a horn section should be used in rock music.

  • @klondike999 yeah, when was the last time you heard a horn section in the original and not the live version?

  • Your tuned into K-BAY. This next one is number 8 on the charts, and number 1 in our hearts.------ Starksky And Hutch 2004

  • that harmony from the horn section is like nothing ive ever heard before

  • Memories seem like yesterday.

  • 胸がジーンときた。いつ聴いても、色あせない曲。Chicagoの曲の中で私が一番好きな曲。

    私の一生の曲。少年から青年なるとき何度も聴いた。Old Days。一分でいいから。ああ、あの日に帰りたい。

  • love this

  • I'm with Boxerdogs11, I'll take the 70's back today. Better music, much less stress, and I was very, very young. I knew I could hear some Beach Boys vocals back there!

  • @spd13062 I agree. Funny thing is, in this song they're singing about the 50's.

  • @bobviously You're right they were...this song will live on for all the old days.

  • This says it all for me. I would take the 70's back in a heartbeat. Good times I remember, fun days, filled with simple pleasures.........
