@MrClifton17 - Thanks for the info. I'm glad the core brass/woodwinds trio - along with Lamm - is there, but none of the others really bring back the great Chicago sound the departed ones provided.
Thank you Lord for having me be born when I was (1967). Everytime you turned on the radio, every song was a great one. Never had to turn the station. The kids now? You think 30 years from now there will be a song like THIS? One describing the great times from NOW? Can just imagine. What are they gonna sing about? Justin Beebhead? Lady Goo Goo. Text mesaging? Ford Focuses? High gas prices? Foreclosure. Gonna take one talented band to wax nostagically about THESE DAYS. Yikes.
Todd, Playing your Favorite song for you today, as they lay you in the ground. Your Spirit will always be with me. Oh, how I wish for the " Old Days" to be back again. Nothing will ever be the same without you. Now, you know everything., All was never lost. Love, jacqueline.
I was born in '64. Seems like all through that '70s childhood...school playground, washing the car with dad, little league practice... Chicago was the AM radio soundtrack to life.
@takfam07 Awesome comment dude..I hear you..same year too..just a bunch of old farts..Howdy Doody was before our time but apparently not Jim's when he wrote the song. Soundtrack to life for sure. Brings back so many good memories.
damn this brings back driving my 1969 Mustang Convertible around with 2-3 girls hanging out the back. Tampa the Hillsborough Terriers 1974 gone forever............
@latinlolita1968 - Hopefully places where songs like this can bring them back! Speaking of "bringing them back", I was walking down State St in Madison WI in 1994 and some coeds were coming the other way. One really cute girl said to her friends "What is it that I love about Chicago?" I thought, what the hell? So I smiled and said - "Rock with horns!" That's when she kneed me in the crotch! Later the doctor said "I'm sorry, they were both destroyed and had to be removed" True story :(
These are the songs of yesturday when life was good, love was real and good. Love listening to the songs that take me back in time ..... Wish I could turn back time would be Awesome.........
yes it was a more simple time for sure., and I love the music of the 70''s. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the songs today but back in the 70's there was something left to the imagination which is not today. There is a comedian whose name escapes me, but he said in a movie, "with all the sucking and licking and blowing in the songs today you have to wear a condom just to listen to them" and he is right!
chicago is the shit.. terry kath was as good as hendrix.. on one particular night jimi hendrix introduced chicago transit authority and terry kath as the greatest guitarist in the universe.
Probably the best band to ever come out of Chicago. A bit of history here: I first saw what became Chicago at a great bar, named Barnaby's where State and Rush came together in 1967. Those were the days when all the band members would come down from the overhead stage and mingle....luckily, my brother hit it off with a couple of them, so we got to rub elbows with them. They play top 40 hits better than the orignal recording artists. Bar Trivia: original name was The Big Thing.
They say, that one cannot take anything with them, when they pass. But I do believe that a song and music is something one can take, when one crosses over! This is a beautiful song.... ref: whiteTigress1968
@kmars21 Yes, he was amazing. I just don't understand what happened to him. Unless I'm mistaking, he was kicked out for "not practicing", and "not being up to par". I don't get it.
Cars made of steel, and not plastic. A million dollars would last A lifetime. Our VOTE still was counted (and not just someone pretending) And the old cars were made B.C. too!(before Chips) and you still could fix them yourself.

Gran canción, tenía 12 años cuando la oí por primera vez, al cabo de 35 años evoco años de juegos, circo, paseos y de las playas de la Costa Verde, días seguros sin problemas. Un oasis temporal. Gracias Chicago. Buena salud.
Who could dislike this, seriously? This music is pure golden compared to the SHIT nowadays man, Oh I wish I lived in this era, where descent music was produced :(
Great song! When I was growing up, a TV station in my city used it in promos for the old TV shows they were airing. I also remember a time in my life when things seemed to go crazy and listening to this song helped me remember when life was easier. There are some parts of the past I wouldn't mind revisiting, others not so much. Thanks for posting this classic.
Terry Kath was unique. It's a day early, but I remember him each and every year around his death date of January 23rd 1978. I will never forget. His music lives on with me forever. I just loved "Chcago's music back in the day. R.I.P TERRY KATH!
@HippieNiecey That 6 month period was the worst in music history with Elvis Presley's death in August,Bing Crosby's death in October, and Terry Kath's death in January.
Yeah, what a song. Didn't have Howdy Doody, or street cars in my home town. And yes, I would love to go back to 1975, when this was released. The good days!
Good tune the last minute of the song bugs me a little. Intresting note that Peter Cetera hated the Howdy Doody lyric in the song. Everytime i hear this now im gonna think of Starsky and Hutch lol.
It's amazing how this song can make us all feel such strong emotions. And for once, I don't see any arguments down below! I'll always remember the old days, and I'll always want to relive them.
@roselandalvin Yes he was with the Band from Dec., 1967-he was the last one to join of the original 7 and left in May 1985. He was with them for 18 years. Prior to that he was w/ a band called the Exceptions and asked if he could join.
This album was released several months before the Greatest Hits album. Since OLD DAYS was fairly new when Greatest Hits(#9) came out,the song didn't appear on the compilation.

Ahhh finally. I heard this song on starsky and hutch and I wanted to know the name ever since and I finally found it. Yess. But guys. I'm only 15 and I forever envy you all. I wish I could say i was there during the old days and remember them but I just wasn't born at the right time haha
I'm with Boxerdogs11, I'll take the 70's back today. Better music, much less stress, and I was very, very young. I knew I could hear some Beach Boys vocals back there!

@spd13062 I agree. Funny thing is, in this song they're singing about the 50's.

This says it all for me. I would take the 70's back in a heartbeat. Good times I remember, fun days, filled with simple pleasures.........
