More Jimmy Blythe in hi-fi! Excellent! With the excellent fidelity of these late recordings, he no longer had to pound the piano to keep it audible, and you hear him using considerable dynamics as well, and his interplay with the guitarist is terrific and wonderfully subtle! I firmly believe that had he lived into the 1930s and 1940s, Jimmy Blythe would have been a MAJOR (or at least well-respected) swing-era piano stylist!
@KawhackitaRag let me correct myself... although it is almost certainly Jimmy Blythe on back-up vocals (harmony) under the lead vocal of Alexander Robinson, the piano seems to be Alex Hill. Hill was a fine pianist and greatly inluenced by Blythe as his other recordings illustrate.
Lalalalalalala! Love it.
