Some of the techniques are "fancy" in the sense that they happen in transitions, but most are pretty basic. His technique is crisp and it's hammed up for the audience, but they obviously rehearsed this demo a lot and it shows.

There's a difference between a resisting and a knowledgeable opponent. I could (and do) pull off these kinds of things against a resisting opponent, but if someone is knowledgeable then I'd have to use more complicated or less conventional setups, flows, etc.

BJJ has nothing to do with age. It's easier for older people to learn than most young people. They zone out less and pay attention. If a person trains properly and is smart about how they train BJJ is a life long activity. I wrestled for about 10 years when I was a kid. Then I got into MMA, which got me into Boxing, Thai, and BJJ. If I had to chose between them and only pick one to continue it would def be BJJ.

My BJJ teacher also teach Jeet Kune Do. I wasn't really interested in JKD and after a couple months I came around. The best part about the concept of JKD is that what works for one person doesn't always work for everyone else. So learn the basics and go out and explore other arts to mold yer own JKD. As for the young people I agree, but it's also the middle aged douchers and college kids who help give MMA a bad name. I don't go to bars to watch the fights anymore.

GSP is an excellent fighter, for example. Also, up untill the fight with Lesnar, Shane Carwin was 12-0 and tore through all of his opponents in less than 4 minutes. MMA fighters are still martial artists. That is why it is "Mixed Martial Arts."

hey no need for names man, a simple question will do. Bruce Lee is known as the godfather of MMA because of his philosophy of fighting known as Jeet Kune Do. It's a philosophy and not a style as it applies to everyone differently. Essentially, the philosophy states:take what is useful and discard what is useless; basically use moves that work for you and forget the rest. Jeet Kune Do is seen as the genesis of the modern state of hybrid martial arts - which is what MMA is - mixed martial arts.
