The transformation's solid. The animation could use a little more inertial lead and lag, plus some motion overlap (not the same thing as volume clipping). Check out the 1984 Transformers cartoon transformations; see how the transformation process sort of ripples down the robot from the head to the feet, and there's a sense of weight/mass in the moving parts.

Yes, I made it. Used Moray 3.5 for the modelling and pov-ray for rendering and animation.
