Gosh, this is the second time I've seen this interview.
Why isn't this type of interview on ALL networks for ALL candidates? I'd love to hear Obama and McCain even TRY to give a direct answer to these questions.
Ron Paul is just so reasonable. And, when I disagree with his opinion - it's GREAT! Because as a President, or a Federal employee, he would NOT have the authority to direct me to live in a way I don't agree with. He'd leave it up to me and the smaller number of people in my state.
That bitch tried to make Ron look dumb by saying she cant see people getting partial birth abortions, she is so dumb to think that does not happen. Go Ron, you are smarter than that woman.
Refering to abortion. No woman gets pregnant because she wants to get an abortion. Get with it people: It is men who make women pregnant against their will. There for blame men for the unwanted children, not women.
Yeah but if the women is a slut and doesn't use precaution when having sex.. how is it fair that a baby is being killed because of the womens stupidity? A dick is going into her she is in control... unless she gets raped which is such a RARE case.
men who get women pregnant "against their will"? hahaha... come on man. women also play a part in sex; and don't bring up rape or incest, which constitutes less than one half of one percent of ALL abortions...
Ron Paul is just so fucking smart that most people can't understand it. He treats others with intelligence and respect as well and it just messes with people... they don't know how to think at his level...
Congress cannot alter the Supreme Court's original jurisdiction, but Article III of the Constitution gives it power to control the Court's appellate (rulings on appeals cases) jurisdiction. The Court may not exercise any of its appellate jurisdiction without congressional authorization, and Congress may limit the appellate jurisdiction however it chooses.
I was pro-choice, but when I learned that the babies are pulled out sometimes moving around & crying with no chance for survival, I quickly changed my mind. A baby has a right to life, in priority to a woman's wishes to not have a child.
I'm pro choice woman.. and to some extent don't agree with Ron Paul personal principles about abortion.. however. I do admire how he plans to base the issue on a state level versus national..
I was pro-choice, but Paul's view: you can't have liberty without life changed me. If the woman did not have a choice in creating the baby (i.e. rape, incest) or, as Dr. P said, the mother's life is in danger then abortion should be available.
With freedom comes responsibility. If a woman chose to have sex, she (and the man) should be responsible for the life they created.
The Logic of this man is sooooooo clear based on the structure of our Constitution its just amazing. Some people think its off par but the truth of it is we have lost our way when it comes to Constitutional law in this country atleast with the political parties as a whole.
Point of Logic. Ron Paul handled that woman so, so well. How can she say a pregnant woman deserves special legal treatment, and yet say it's ok to abort a legal, human entity? I look forward to the day, when people beat their breasts at the name of abortion as they do at the name of slavery. It's unfair for pro-life taxpayers, it's detrimental to the women who use it, and it's death to the baby.
When you travel around the world & tell people who don't know about American laws that abortion is legal in the US, you usually get a reaction to the effect of "It's LEGAL?!" Then the face usually bears the expression of a person who has seen a ghost or the devil himself. It is very distressing & embarrassing.
Whether you agree with Paul on abortion or not, I don't think anyone can disagree that he handed that shrill, emotionally driven, 100% "logic free" moron woman her fat ass.
I'm really impressed with how Paul handled these tough questions. I think abortion has been a really tough issue that keeps coming up in presidential elections and we can't seem to get past it.
I like how Paul is bringing so much experience to this and is tackling it as a matter of law. It makes me hope that we can finally have some progress.
Amazing, Ron Paul tells it like it is. He is the complete opposite of political double-speak. I don't agree with everything he says, but he is certainly the best candidate for president. He is honost and has incredible integrity. He will bring government back under the power of the people, not the special interests.
Is it just me or is Ron Paul getting a little softer and softer on illegal immigration as time goes on. That really worries me, he really needs to talk about this more because he use to be as tough as anyone on this issue. This is also a weapon that he seem to be reluctant to use.
Dont worry. Im from Texas and If Ron Paul wins one end result is that if I want my realtor to only sell to a decent American family they can descriminate. He does say at his website no longer will the anchor baby be legit.
That's how almost every other country in the world does it.

Mike Huckabee is going to the Nationally-Televised Iowa GOP Debate on Dec 4th.
Ron Paul still has no invitation, even though:
Huckabee hasn't even raised 1/2 a million this quarter, and the last time I checked RON PUAL had raised $8 million 1 hundred and 26 thousand and 4 hundred and 58 dollars and 96 cents!
With all this tremendous extraordinary support Ron Paul is receiving, can someone explain to me why Ron Paul still has no invitation to the debate?

Abortion is just another issue noone will agree on. It was put in place by the media and the elites as a federal issue to keep us divided and destroy the USA. Dr. Paul is right, state issue.
youre right, but making it a state issue solves nothing. it olny allows southern states to ban abortion, and most states will only restrict 3rd term abortion. so we will be back to people crossing state lines to get abortions, and women getting back alley abortions. nothing solved, possibly even made worse.

WronG Paul!
Fuck him and his Christian fundamentalist dogma in trying to turn the US into a full-fledged theocracy and eliminating individual rights and liberties. He's a wacko.
I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything, but I see that he is without question the best choice for President we have, and beyond being just the best choice, he's a choice many have been waiting for for a long time.
complex issue to be sure, but to have a "reporter" say, "I've never seen [8months old fetus aborted] happens" completely a priori tells you how ill informed they are. Legally speaking, YES, as the law stands it can be done. To deny the obvious to prove a point... and calls herself a reporter. Even if you disagree with RP on abortion, non one can deny the factual legal limbo, as the law stands today. RP 2008!!!!

The federal govt already heavily funds adult stem cell research, but allows no federal funding for "new" embryonic stem cell lines. This is an esoteric debate, but he doesn't seem particularly well informed about the issue. He just sort of stammered around that one. Not very impressive for an ob/gyn MD.

This guy is absolutely crazy! He wants to "remove the jurisdiction [of the courts] except for things that are popularly supported."
What an assault on the constitution that would be. The framers were afraid of exactly that - political retribution directed at the courts when they made unpopular, but constitutionally mandated, rulings. That is why federal judges have lifetime appointments and salary guarantees.
He says it was a "horrendous abuse" when congress removed the jurisdiction of courts to rule on the habeus corpus question (something he likes), but thinks it would be OK to remove their jurisdiction for ruling on abortion issues (something he dislikes).
He wants to shift power from the judicial branch to the legislative by legislating what political questions deserve jurisdiction in the courts. A damn scary proposition.
Lets cover the full quote "I'd have to argue that they had the authority to do that but boy that is horrendous abuse" So he is not being inconsistant.
By all means cover the full quote. And cover my full comment.
My point is he's advocating a congressional power grab by suggesting congress should grant or deny jurisdiction based on the political whims of congress. This is a recipe for disaster.
Ever since Marbury v Madison, SCOTUS has served as the CONSTITUTIONAL check on the other 2 branches.
Marbury v Madison? I'm not familure with that case. Are you a lawyer?
Most poeple aren't afraid of the congressial branch collecting power. Most poeople today are concerned with the executive branch. I think you can make your point without "damn scary","absolutely cazy", and "recipe for disaster" that kind of alarmism only turns people off.
PainelnHead, Marbury is an important 1803 case that established the Supreme Court's judicial review authority, e.g. they decide if laws passed by congress are constitutional. This is a bedrock principle for our government.
The judicial branch is supposed to be independent of the other 2 branches. Tinkering with their jurisdiction on a case by case basis, as RP promotes, would be a damn scary crazy disaster, lol.
So what about Article III? Article III of the Constitution gives Congress the power to control the Court's appellate jurisdiction, which is what Ron Paul is advocating. He somewhat explains this in the interview.
murder is state issue. ironic, u're stating a position u favor to fit the argument, as well. RP's stance has legal precedence; agree or disagree, fetus has legalrights. as long as that stands, it's manslaughter/murder. 50options to sort out difficult issues, r the bedrock of our legal sys. however, immoral&unfair it may be, one gets deathpenalty, or life, depending on what state murder is committed. if u were intellectually honest with urself, there's no denying RP's principled argument.
Rosen, "50options to sort out difficult issues" is a principled argument undeniable by one who is intellectually honest? Wow, you must be the debate team champ.
voiyeur: I assume you're being mod down not because you're wrong per se, but because of the way you presented your point of view. Personally I'm actually quite interested in this issue. What you should do is ask Ron Paul himself, preferably by going to an event where he'll be speaking. I'll bet he'll give you an honest answer, so make sure you bring a camcorder. Also note that he said: "Remove the jurisdiction on only the things that are popularly supported.", not exactly the way you put it.
Well this segement is about all about state rights. All he is suggestion is that the states should play a greater role then what you get from federal government.
I am female, pro-choice, but I understand his argument, and know he is correct. He also states that the morning after pill doesn't prove that anyone was pregnant or had an abortion. You never hear this logic.
why isn't the Christian right all over this guys nuts? instead these so called Christians like Pat hypoctite Robertson support ghoulianni and his pro abortion stance.
Absolutely. He is the only true conservative running for president. Ive made a few videos outlining why I think its entirely possible for him to not only win the nomination, but lay Hillary or any other top tier dem to waste in a debate of the issues.
This is what infuriates me though. Sadly, to appeal to the republican base, one must be accepted by the Christian coalition. But somehow the CC is squarely in the pocket of the neocons. I think the era of intellectual Christianity is over (C.S lewis, Chesterton, Aquinas roll in your graves). RP is is only candidate who analyzed the war through Christian just war theory and it didn't even register to these morons.
Money is great, but not everything. I gave on Nov5 and will give again. Starting Nov. 15 everyone must wear Ron Paul gear. I mean everyone. We need to increase his name recognition to everyone without internet or youtube use. We need to increase his voting base. We can make the hats ourselves or buy them or whatever. But I want to see everyone wearing his hats. I'm the only one where I live wearing them, and I kid you not people ask me who is Ron Paul. This works, I'm telling you.
Canadians support the Ron Paul Revolution! We see Ron Paul as the beginning to a stronger NORTH AMERICA. Our Canadian dollar is now stronger and we are a very prosperous nation that promotes PEACE. Our Health Care is one of the TOP in the WORLD. We are the second smartest nation in the world. Use Ron Paul to be your leader to a brighter future for ALL! Ron Paul 2008! See Canada's views on the Ron Paul Revolution!
Remember the feeling as a child sitting at the kitchen table listening to the adults talk about world events. All ears, like a sponge and loving the "adultness" that engulfed you.
Then as adults we took part in similar discussions and the stimulus went deeper.
These six videos transport me too but on a grander scale, as if the whole nation is at the table and all of us, no matter our positions, are the better for it.
You are correct, but the christians in this country are having trouble supporting anybody right now , Paul is their man , whether they know it yet or not .
wow this video makes me re-think the abortion issue, if a guy who has delivered 4000 babies can have these strong opinions. Anyhow I don't think anyone should vote for a federal leader based on this red herring argument... they are just meant to distract people from real, fiscal and military policy.
Abortion issues don't decide the fate of our country...listen to his policies in general and realize that he is the only REAL American running for President and vote!!!!!
What a point! It seems that the leaders of the anti-choice movement don't want to win...they act in a way that allows this volatile issue to linger and fester.
WOW ! He makes a HUGE poiunt that I bet NOONE realizes!!! the point about it being LEGAL for a 9 month abortion...He has a point...it ISN"T SIMPLE!!! If it's legal at 9 months!!! Lets take that argument when and if they want to bury him with this issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BUT IT"S LEGAL!!!! NOW I usderstand him...I don't think abortion should be illegal...biut he has first hand close up kowledge that 99% of the populace DOESN"T HAVE!!!
What hard line? He believes the fed should not have jurisdiction up or down over such a touchy issue. His answer is to repeal roe v wade and devolve the issue to the states. Only country-wide mandates are hard line, imo. States rights is a very sensible answer to most of our problems today.
I just mean in terms of the many, many people and women especilly who will take his position at face value without actually listening to what he says about it, many people just here the term anti-abortion and say nopewithout further investigation. The women in the interview is a prime example.
I agree, but he makes an extremely persuasive argument. It is sad that using common sense could make you unpopular in the propagandist simpleton system that has been cultivated.
So true this is such a simple arguement that Dr. Paul truly shows great thought and understanding about the issue of abortion. As you could see with Dr. Paul's points about abortion she just had no agrument for his common sense approach. It's so refreshing to see a canidate express his views on a matter with straight forward common sense answers. Yet another reason to Vote Ron Paul in 2008.
Ron Paul is really an incredibly principled candidate. It's great to see the ethics of libertarianism and true human freedom finally bubbling to the forefront of this race.
Why did she say 'Are you going to throw a pregnant woman in jail' for having an abortion... uhm... she wouldn't be pregnant if she had an abortion... Its like she is trying to use the word 'pregnant' to make him sound like some kind of monster for having the beliefs that he does, but its completely out of context... ugh!! Dr. Paul handled it great as per usual...
The surprised journalist apparently never heard of the scandal which occured in Spain a few months ago. In one of the clinics they were performing 6,7,8-month abortions.
"8 Months?! I dont think so...Yeah but how often does that happen?"
(says the amateur journalist to the OB/GYN)
Thats the same goofy argument people offer when you object to the PATRIOT act..."Well just how many people has that happened to?" Uh, hello- it would happen to ZERO if there were no framework there to allow it.
Why not pass a law allowing slavery...when anyone complains just point out that "no one has actually bought a slave yet?"
Gonzo707: notice how Ron Paul essentially doesn't disagree with her statement ("it's about the principle"), that's because she is absolutely correct. In the U.S. only 1.4% of abortions are performed at or after 21 weeks (about 5 months) but I assume almost none of those are after 8 months. For your information, the average gestational age in England and Wales is 9.4 weeks (that's less than 3 months), none or a neglectable number are performed after 29 weeks (about 7 months).
Your "assumption," like this lady's baseless skepticism, does not refute the valid point that Paul (again, A QUALIFIED DOCTOR OB/GYN)made: IT HAPPENS and law permits it.
Again people are completely ignoring the same fallacy from which the PATRIOT act suffers: if its "never going to happen" then why write it into law in the first place? And if these laws dont actually ever apply to anyone...lets just take them off the books.
Exactly - she is no longer a journalist. She's a commentator and an idealogue. Dr. Paul answered on principle and she just doesn't get principle, apparently.
I like how the 'journalist' argues with an OB-GYN on whether abortions have actually occurred at certain ages. Uhhhh... I'll believe the doctor and not the 'reporter.'
not to sound like a sexist but is it like a woman's thing.. is it just how a woman's brain works that gives them sometimes very poor understanding of the essence of acting on sound principles? i mean this should be a very important question, because there is a possibility of a woman becoming our president. honestly i don't know will happen if someone with poor respect for principle and law becomes a president.
takadi: I'd rather thank her for finally directly questioning Ron Paul about his position, personally I'd rather prefer the word "crazed" for the Bill O'Reilly's of the world. This woman doesn't fall under that category.

With all this tremendous extraordinary support Ron Paul is receiving, can someone explain to me why Ron Paul still has no invitation to the debate?

Abortion is just another issue noone will agree on. It was put in place by the media and the elites as a federal issue to keep us divided and destroy the USA. Dr. Paul is right, state issue.
proximity2008 4 years ago 4
youre right, but making it a state issue solves nothing. it olny allows southern states to ban abortion, and most states will only restrict 3rd term abortion. so we will be back to people crossing state lines to get abortions, and women getting back alley abortions. nothing solved, possibly even made worse.

complex issue to be sure, but to have a "reporter" say, "I've never seen [8months old fetus aborted] happens" completely a priori tells you how ill informed they are.

That is why federal judges have lifetime appointments and salary guarantees.
voiyour 4 years ago

He says it was a "horrendous abuse" when congress removed the jurisdiction of courts to rule on the habeus corpus question (something he likes), but thinks it would be OK to remove their jurisdiction for ruling on abortion issues (something he dislikes).
He wants to shift power from the judicial branch to the legislative by legislating what political questions deserve jurisdiction in the courts. A damn scary proposition.
voiyour 4 years ago
Lets cover the full quote "I'd have to argue that they had the authority to do that but boy that is horrendous abuse" So he is not being inconsistant.
PaineInHead 4 years ago
By all means cover the full quote. And cover my full comment.
My point is he's advocating a congressional power grab by suggesting congress should grant or deny jurisdiction based on the political whims of congress. This is a recipe for disaster.
Ever since Marbury v Madison, SCOTUS has served as the CONSTITUTIONAL check on the other 2 branches.
voiyour 4 years ago
Marbury v Madison? I'm not familure with that case. Are you a lawyer?
Most poeple aren't afraid of the congressial branch collecting power. Most poeople today are concerned with the executive branch. I think you can make your point without "damn scary","absolutely cazy", and "recipe for disaster" that kind of alarmism only turns people off.
PaineInHead 4 years ago
PainelnHead, Marbury is an important 1803 case that established the Supreme Court's judicial review authority, e.g. they decide if laws passed by congress are constitutional. This is a bedrock principle for our government.
The judicial branch is supposed to be independent of the other 2 branches. Tinkering with their jurisdiction on a case by case basis, as RP promotes, would be a damn scary crazy disaster, lol.
voiyour 4 years ago
So what about Article III? Article III of the Constitution gives Congress the power to control the Court's appellate jurisdiction, which is what Ron Paul is advocating. He somewhat explains this in the interview.
brucevdk 4 years ago
murder is state issue. ironic, u're stating a position u favor to fit the argument, as well.
RosenKrantz666 4 years ago

I think the era of intellectual Christianity is over (C.S lewis, Chesterton, Aquinas roll in your graves).

He may end up taking a hit with votes for his hard line on abortion.
DustinKea 4 years ago
What hard line? He believes the fed should not have jurisdiction up or down over such a touchy issue. His answer is to repeal roe v wade and devolve the issue to the states. Only country-wide mandates are hard line, imo. States rights is a very sensible answer to most of our problems today.
fluoridatedbrainsoup 4 years ago 7
I just mean in terms of the many, many people and women especilly who will take his position at face value without actually listening to what he says about it, many people just here the term anti-abortion and say nopewithout further investigation. The women in the interview is a prime example.
DustinKea 4 years ago 2
I agree, but he makes an extremely persuasive argument. It is sad that using common sense could make you unpopular in the propagandist simpleton system that has been cultivated.
imisspellwords 4 years ago 7
So true this is such a simple arguement that Dr. Paul truly shows great thought and understanding about the issue of abortion. As you could see with Dr. Paul's points about abortion she just had no agrument for his common sense approach. It's so refreshing to see a canidate express his views on a matter with straight forward common sense answers. Yet another reason to Vote Ron Paul in 2008.

man ole ron is a powerhouse of logic and debate...so cool
eesloan4 4 years ago
Gonzo707 4 years ago 6
Gonzo707: notice how Ron Paul essentially doesn't disagree with her statement ("it's about the principle"), that's because she is absolutely correct. In the U.S. only 1.4% of abortions are performed at or after 21 weeks (about 5 months) but I assume almost none of those are after 8 months. For your information, the average gestational age in England and Wales is 9.4 weeks (that's less than 3 months), none or a neglectable number are performed after 29 weeks (about 7 months).
brucevdk 4 years ago
I dont care what happens in England.
Gonzo707 4 years ago
Finally a candidate who doesn't dodge the questions. Ron Paul knows his information and gives real answers.
