What kinda disappoints me is that the Japanese version of this game has actual voices during scenes like this. Never the less it still remains an awesome game.
This game is fun at first, but... later on it's kind of obvious that it was rushed. Large empty wilderness past the second castle.... Not counting backtracking, you'll only see one new town, and the only way they find to make you continue is to hope that you say "Well, There's this big spot I haven't explored... Let's ignore it for now and go swimming in the ocean!
There aren't even any clues pointing to the Gourmet Submarine Castle, for crying out loud!
@corjonbett Yeah, but even as kids, me and my siblings managed to beat it without many problems. It's the current games that drag you by the hand and tell you where to go and what to do at all times. I mean, we explored the shit out of that game, whenever there was a dead end we went "hum, what can I do to fall off the game world?" And more often than not we did just that. The one complain I have about it is that we never get to see kyushu before it get blasted off into wherever.
I freaking love the music that starts playing after the enemy airship flys overhead in the Opening Sequence. It's one of the things that makes it so awesome.
Absolute classic. On Boxing Day this year I had picked up Metroid Prime used for 2$ because I thought I had traded it in a few years earlier. Turns out I still had mine so for the whole year I had two copies of Metroid Prime sitting around. Today I found a kid who was looking for it and traded me this game for it straight up. Words cannot describe how happy I am; I wanted this game since I was a kid and could never find it. Played it once in my entire lifetime. Going to finally beat it!
This might sound stupid but I was young. I played the intro over 10 times because I loved it so much. I loved the song when the ship appears and...words can't describe how seeing this again just takes me back to the great Classic's..
i remember i kud never save the game, so i wud spend hours just playin nd me and my brothers wud take shifts in the night playing lol. jesus i must have been about 5.
i loved this game when i was a kid, it was too confusing to understand though and beat. i also remember the first robot boss reminded me of e.honda from street fighter hahaha
YOOOOO I LOVED this game! We rented it a LONG time ago. What was the name of those things that were like "PUUULLAASMMMAA" and they would do like a dance thing?
I recently bought this game for my 64 becuz i remember it as a kid... it takes time and effort to beat it, and i played the sequel, it sucked, it was like a 3d platformer
well, at least im not the only one!!lol my older brother tryed to explain it to me, he said sumthing about getting to a castle, but i didn't know where it was therefore i just walked around!!lol
Ahh I remember this! This was one of the funniest N64 games I ever played. Such a shame I never got the chance to beat it though. Heard the ending's really funny.
@lemlia In the two years since I sincerely hope you have. MNSG is great the entire way through and game to play mutiple times. And, coming from someone who doesn't tend to like overly-japanese games, it's originality, humour, design (and so many other features) make it a must finish, once started. Span the globe hunting it down if you have to, it's worth it!
I had rented it from Blockbuster and I didn't get to beat it before I had to return it. Lol I had a habit of doing this with games sometimes when I was a kid. And I just thought to myself, its ok, I'll just go back to it later, and never did. Haha maybe I will :D
did any one else besides me notice that the envaders looked Western compared to the main characters and the towns people in this game. I have the utmost respect for the Japanese and their culture...but i think they're still smarting a bit over England and the imperialistic expansion from WAY back when.
I miss this game, I used to rent it all the time when I was 10-11. I have been looking for it as well. The music during it was very catchy, I would hum it while I played the game, my mom would always laugh.
Subtitles are in game...they don't actually speak, just make little noises from time to time, and I don't remember it being multi player, it's actually quite a large game for its time.
But it's a sidescroller! The only good parts of the second game were the robot battles. And wow it was long and hard... I wish they made the sequel exactly like the first.
i also wish it was english, but then again that would ruin the whole thing. and reading the captions helped me understand it better..i wish it came out for 360 witht the same graphics LOL
id say best game for n64 but then we have 007 an mortal combat trilogy which cant be beat..but for story mode this is def the best games i ever played an experienced something new everytime i beat it
I want this video on my J300 unit.
