  • You look so beautiful in the new hair style!

  • You know what... I cannot decide which is better between this and Bulgari Pour Homme Soir.

For sure both are probably some of the sexiest male frags around.

  • you smell, and your dimples are too cute

  • A perfume for sexy astronauts? Mmmmm... The thought of Yuri Gagarin wearing this makes his memory even hotter! ;-)

  • Nice fun review.. enjoyed it :) after checking out this fragrance its also very affordable.. which I wasnt expecting from a brand such as Bulgari. I just bought this online for £28 for 75ml.

  • @321Trooper Oh yes - you can get great deals on this one!

  • terse and right to the point. thank you.

  • a perfume for sexy astronauts... love your reviews

  • @dboom1218 Hey thanks!

  • @Scents2sense Funny you should bring up Midnight in Paris - I just shot a review of it, detailing the similarity to Bulgari Black. It's less "weird" than BB, and sweeter. Kind of more middle of the road. Nice though. The review will be up in a few weeks.

  • Hey, Katie. I'm the guy who told you I'd buy this cologne only as a collector's item because I hated the smell. Well... When I arrived, I fell IN LOVE with it. Maybe I was just intimidated when I first tried it at the mall because of how strange it is, but now I wear if almost every day. My current favorite is still Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir, but Bvlgari Black is a very close 2nd! Black is soothing and Soir is sexy:)

  • @slesperado How interesting! I'm glad you came back to tell me this. You articulated very well the intimidation factor with fragrances: people are a little nervous about venturing outside familiar "peer-approved" scents. You break though that once you start smelling more and more things. It's just the same as with food: the more different things you eat, the more sophisticated your palate becomes.

So glad you're getting FULL use out of your BB!

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells WOW! Yes! That's exactly what happened. Thank you:)

  • @jordana8899 There's a close-up photo of the bottle at the beginning of the video so you can see what it looks like. There is only one version of Bulgari Black - the eau de toilette.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Yes you're correct, I just saw the picture of the perfume @ 0:05, so I'm terribly sorry!!!

BTW- it is different the the one that I tried and didn't like. so I'm going to look for this and give it a try. thanks!!!

  • @jordana8899 Okay dokey!

  • i feel like a basket, when i wear it.

    gosh, i love basketworks!

  • I've never understood the concept of a unisex fragrance until I encountered this one! I've smelled so many different frags categorized as unisex and none ever struck me as so. They either lean one way or the other but I can definitely see both sexes wearing this. I loce it!

  • @aidenryu The funny thing with Bulgari Black is that it was originally sold at the women's perfume counter, and then it mysteriously moved over to the men's side.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Is that so?! Go figure! lol Thanks Ms. Puckrik :)

  • "I'm Katie Puckrick an I smell."

  • My main 2 winter fragrances for this year are YSL Body Kouros and this one, Bvlgari Black (I'm living below the equation so it's winter here). Just love the unique sweetness so much. Have you tried them in cool summer night?

Oh and I also want to know your opinion about Dior Fahrenheit, something I categorize into the same group with Bvlgari Black, maybe a review?

  • @kizjn Oh, I love Fahrenheit! I used to only wear Ultima II Sheer Scent, which was a slightly less butch version of Fahrenheit. I think Bulgari Black is lighter and more subtle than Fahrenheit, and in fact, I've worn Black on cool summer nights at the beach. Another warm oriental that's sheer enough for summer is Miller Harris Un Petit Rien.

  • Guy here, i wear bvlgari black, its a refreshing fragrance which you can wear everyday. Women i met love the smell, turns them on. Its nice to wear when making love.

  • I tried Bvlgari Black yesterday, and it smelled horrible on my skin. I let it dry for 2 hours, then I let my sister and her female friend smell it. It didn't repel them at all, but they said that it doesn't work for me. Bvlgari Black is very repelling to me, even after the dry down. I'll buy it in a few months as a collection item, but not for something to wear. I just love the bottle design. Even if other people like how it smells on my skin, I wouldn't wear it because I don't like it.

  • @slesperado Well, you gave it an honest try, and it sounds like it's really not for you at all. You're better off spending your money on something you love wearing.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Yeah... My next purchase will be Bvlgari Pour Homme Soir. I tried it out on the same day I tried Black That stuff is very attracting to me. I couldn't stop sniffing it! I'll still buy the Black in a few months. I also have other colognes in my collection that I don't like. I really enjoyed your review of Black. I also enjoyed the interview you did with Fox:) Have a nice day!

  • This just arrived ten minutes ago and now after spraying it what can I say?....My nose is surgically attached to my wrist....I can't stop smelling it!

Is it because it's so masculine that I now fancy myself (I'm female)?

What will men make of it? Will they like it on a woman? Could I asexually reproduce?

Am I destined for the life of an amoeba?.....a very attractive smelling one at that....

  • Snort! Bulgari Black will not turn you into a fragrant amoeba. In fact, it was first marketed to women, and then at some point started showing up on the men's fragrance counter. There's no real rhyme or reason to assigning a gender to this one - and certainly no helpful genitalia on the underside of the bottle to lead the way.

  • today i discovered the salespeople in the fragrance section know me by name. all of them. yikes.

more importantly, i also discovered the magic of bvlgari black. new favorite... of the moment. i'm thrilled to have found this, and also to have found your fabulous youtube reviews oh-so-many moons ago.

    hey, thanks for existing!

  • Oh, that's nice - glad to be here!

Heh - I have the same cringe-making realization when the SAs make it all too evident that I'm a "high rotation" fume stalker.

  • i really love this video. the review, yes, but also your style in delivery here. it seems more... real than some of your others. that's not to say i don't love them all.

also, i haven't smelled this fragrance yet, but i'm going to go ahead and buy a bottle anyway. i've heard it compared to dzing!, which i adore.

  • DearC - I've never thought of BB in comparison to Dzing!, but I suppose you could make a case for them sharing a certain dry-but-sweet leatheryness. And I think they share a sensibility of being "weird but wearable".

I agree that the delivery here is more "real" - I'm more conversational here, for some reason.

  • Dear Katie, only because of this lovely review of yours I decided to ignore all the conventional comments about Black à la "Oh, it's too smokey, too rubbery, never suited for a woman" or, again, the sales assistant's negative attitude towards women that wear such a fragrance. So I ordered a bottle and am more than thrilled to transform myself into a mysterious Amazone soon. ;)

  • Tee-hee! And regarding perfume gender assignments - Bulgari Black was initially released as a "woman's scent", anyway!

  • Holy crap this was hilarious! This is the first review I see from you and i loved it! A review with sense of humor and knowledge. 5 stars

  • Glad to hear - thanks indeed.

  • Katie, can you suggest anything that was as spicy and exotic like Chaos by Donna Karen? They don't make that anymore and I loved it.

    Thanks!!

    Xo

  • stinak - you'll be thrilled to learn that Chaos is back! I just smelled it yesterday at Selfridge's in London. I know it's carried in the US, and I'm sure online as well. But to answer your question, here are some Chaos-alikes, all in slightly different ways:

    Costes

    Laura Mercier Minuit Enchanté

    Serge Lutens Féminité du Bois

    Chanel Les Exclusifs Coromandel

    10 Corso Como

  • Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My hubby is going to be so happy -- it was his fave : ) I love your videos and your awesome sense of humor! You ROCK!

  • Aw, thanks!

  • Had another "spicy" thought for you: Nanadebary Pink.

  • Ooooh I will add that one to my list! I can't wait to hunt these down and try them all! THANKS SO MUCH!

  • Get ready to go "ooooh" a lot more...they're YUM.

  • could you do a review on armani code women

  • That's it ! I'm sold! I'm off to the Holiday Give Away vid right now!

  • From the "vibe" I'm getting from you, I'd say Black is perfect! It's unusual, sensual, very "come-closer".

  • My instinct, which is just about all I have, tells me to follow the promise of the pleasantly pungent preternaturally pretty Puckricks perfume pronouncement prior to purchase for paradisiacally propitious product profit quite profoundly actually. Thanks very much..

  • A perfumed pleasure!

  • Hmm, sounds like a interesting perfume! they must have that in Canada, right?. cuz i wanna know what it smells like! ^^

  • I'm sure they have it in Canada. And you can get it online for good deals.

  • Katie, I am curious to know what you think of Frederic Malle, L'Artisan fragrances in general and specifically my all time favorite scent Gris Clair by Serge Lutens?

  • I adore the Frederic Malle range! Their Une Rose and Musc Ravageur are both in my personal collection.

L'Artisan Perfumeur: I find that I like the idea of them more than loving the actual fragrances, with a few exceptions: Dzing! and Vanilia.

Gris Clair: I need to revisit that one. I smelled it years ago, got the lavender, and put it down. I know there's more to it than that, but I wasn't on a lavender prowl at the time.

  • Katie, I've worn Coco Chanel and Guerlain's Samsara in the winter since the 80's. I'm in the market for something similar but more modern - any suggestions?

  • Those are both gorgeous perfumes. You might try:

Chanel Coromandel (my favorite perfume; in Chanel boutiques only)

Chanel Égoïste (the orginal, not Platinum version, and the spicy rose/sandalwood is beautiful on women, too)

Ormonde Jayne Tolu (track this down online - you might love this one!)

Laura Mercier Minuit Enchanté parfum (more of a gourmand, but you'll love the spices and depth; exclusive to Nordstrom)

  • Oh, and also try:

Estee Lauder Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang

Tom Ford Black Orchid Voile de Fleur

    Bulgari Jasmin Noir edp

  • question: Gucci's Rush has been my signature scent for about as long as I can remember. I actually have to make and active point to switch things up and wear other scents because otherwise I would run through bottles like crazy. Is there anything else out there that you would recommend that is similar? My search thus far has proved pretty futile.

  • I took some time to think about what might be comparable to Gucci Rush, & my conclusion is: nothing! Its milky, peachy, powdery woodiness really does stand apart from the pack. The following suggestions have elements in common, but none are Rush dupes:

    Dior Addict (thick weird vanilla/rose/patchouli)

    Dior Hypnotic Poison (thick almond/plum/pachouli)

Chanel Égoïste original, not Concentree (creamy sandalwood/rose/spices)

    Prada for women (milky amber/vanilla/rose/patchouli)

  • love black though for some reason it wears really really lightly on me. 20 minutes later there's just the slightest hint of it on my skin; better for the humid, sweltering summers. I also just got hypnotic poison upon your recommendation. Though at first it was a little overwhelming in its balmy sweetness, by the next day I think I fell a little in love with it. It lasted me four hours in a moshpit, halloween's epic debauchery, rain, sweat and (drunken) work the day after. Pretty impressive.

  • What's pretty impressive is your social endurance! Four hours in a moshpit is not for amateurs!

  • Great review! I love Black! My boyfriend bought it for me last winter because I smelled it and HAD TO HAVE IT! But then I decided I liked it better on him, so it's no longer mine. It's one of the most original and intoxicating scents on the market - a classic!

  • Thanks, WS! Same kind of thing happened to me - I got Black for myself, then my husband commandeered it. But that's fine, I still get to enjoy it - only on his skin, not mine. Lately, he's moved on to Tom Ford For Men Extreme, which I love to wear, too!

  • We haven't tried Extreme, yet, though my guy also really enjoys Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille from the Private Blend Collection. I would have wanted it as well, if he hadn't sniffed it first, but it's another one that I think smells better on him than on me. It's a bit pricey so he only has a decant, but I'm planning to surprise him with a full bottle for his birthday because just one drop lasts for ages and the bottle is so old-world-apothecary-cool, that I figure it's (he's) worth the money. ;)

  • What a fine lady-friend you are, WristSniffer! I love those Private Blend bottles, too - I had the Amber Absolute. I got so excited every time I held it, that I ended up being a big ol' butterfingers and dropping it on the bathroom floor. It chipped, but didn't break! Solid Tom Ford construction - just like the perfume!

  • I love Bvlgari... I have one tiny bottle and I am obsessed with it, and Christian Dior.

  • Katie Puckrik you were my first ever major crush (on The Word). And you are still so beautiful. I turn into a 16 year old boy again watching you! How sad...

  • Gosh, thanks!

  • your reviews are just awesome

    =]

katie, you should give us a list of your top 10 perfumes!

  • Thanks ankababe! Gosh, what's in my top 10 changes all the time. But I like the idea of doing some more "personal" vids....

  • OMFG! That's Katie Puckrick. What happened to the sassy punky look that you had in the 90's? Time get's to us all I suppose.

  • Bright red hair the color of a fire engine is exhaustingly high maintenance!

  • :O I think Katie looks fab here, as good as she did when i saw her reporting from Disney Land Paris in 1993!

  • Thanks! And I had completely forgotten about that Disneyland thing!

  • Haha, sexy astronauts.

  • Oh my god, I'm so in. Thanks for emailing me to check out your channel. I can never commit to purchasing perfumes... I think your channel will inspire me to start. Your dry wit hooked me. :) I can smell you from here.

  • Gotta throw that "L" in there: BuLgari.

  • i want the bvlgari black cologne now [: thank you

  • Great scent - and awesome that your husband likes it. I passed when my wife offered to buy it for me - still kicking myself for being stupid on that. "Pat" -LOL Ain't that the truth!

  • Bulgari Black does cover a lot of bases! I'm always surprised Sephora segregates it on the men's side...more women should know its delights.

  • Indeed! The blacker, the better!!
