  • Full respect for this! As you say, the old tapes are near extinct. I was a little white boy back in those days and used to buy a £5 draw, lol! Loved the ' blues ' parties back then and could never work out why more white people weren't in to it. My ears were ringing for hours after the dance........Good times!!

  • was at this dance too xxx

  • used to be follow saxon sound everywhere, lived in Brixton then but my mate lived in Harlesden so we followed saxon. Remember I shared a blud with tippa made my year lol xxx straight laced and a teacher now but thanks it was good days xxx

  • Though I'm a lover of classical and jazz music, my roots are set in reggae and I was at this dance (though I seem to remember it being in PEOPLES CLUB, PRAED St, Paddington in 83 0r 84). True, the 80's was the time for 'this' type of session though the 70's had a different vibe that was just as good in my opinion. What a pity there is nothing here in the UK that can match those decades of originality. Just finished watching Junior Cat, Sizzla and others on Jaro - WHAT A TING. Peace and Thanks

  • @dremtay8 I was at this dance too. It was 1985.

  • @dremtay8 I was at this dance too - it was December 1984 going into 85.

There was part 1, and part 2 was the following week.

Some fool from Coxsone couldn't handle Levi's burial lyrics and pushed his way through the crowd to get to Levi, but Levi in true defiant and militant form said: "AH JAH MI FEAR! MI NUH FEAR NUH BWOY!!. OVER?!!!!" LOL it was Saxon gold.

  • We used to play at Peoples club, we played with soundz like Saxon Coxsone Java But we were Soul/Funk sound, dancehall mcs contolled the dance but these soundzsystem had never competed with the old school New york style-Treacherous 3mcs, Spoonie G, Funky 4 plus Djs Jazzy J DJ Red alert. Now that would be some clash Saxon Sound Studio vs Treacherous 3+Spoonie G Dj Easy Lee Bronxs would beat down Saxon on Beats but as good T3 were i feel mc wise Saxon Mc would run them fe style and stamina
