That Amtrak ad is not as weird as the "Spirit Journey" ad you posted in an earlier volume.
I loved the description you wrote for the MJB Mochas ad. Nuff said.
I'm guessing the Pac Bell ads were part of a series? It's getting pretty epic, hope you post more (that, and so Philvanyam can continue to be inventive in his backstories!)
The V/O at the end of Outrageous Fortunes sounds like "Check newspapers for showtimes?????"
hahah! around 5:10 when the news anchor for Ch 7 is giving a news brief, check out the guy behind him. He looks like he is putting a dirty magazine in his bag and then he faces the camera and smiles....
@80sCommercialVault It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember Outrageous Fortune being pretty good. I'm surprised it was released in January.
I used to scratch the word "DRY" on my back of my hand when I was younger because of that commercial haha. It did get a little red due to overdoing it.:)
The woman in the pac bell ad was killed during a bust at a speak easy. Seems she was accidentally trampled to death, when the huge, jitterbugging mob rushed toward the front exit in an attempt to escape.
Sad story. It's what kept those guys friends all these years...
At least that's the back story I'm going with. Feel free to make up your own...
I get the feeling the stouffers pizza I bought at the grocery store yesterday is 30 years old....Same assortment of toppings, same box etc.

wasn't that music on the pacific bell commercial the same music on The Criterion Collection commercials now?
rlwieneke 1 month ago
@rlwieneke The music used in both is "The Aquarium" from Le Carnaval des Animaux' (The Carnival of the Animals) by Camille Saint-Saëns.

Cars for $6k? Holy hell.

I love how she never bothered to say exactly what was so horrible about dry skin.
It's a bit scary that the Stouffer's jingle included the lines "real cheese toppings, yes indeed" (and was that guy fishing in a swimming pool?).
Those kids brought up four boxes, and their mom is sending them down for more? Just how many people are coming over for frozen processed fish?
I can't ice skate under normal conditions. I can't imagine having to do it while wearing a big giant cartoon headpiece

I use to watch the tv show that he was in. I thought it was funny but I guess no one else did because it was cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons.

You can see how much cash Pac Bell was sitting on
when you see those gold-plated-production spots.

"Amerasian" huh?
i can't imagine what the budget for that pacific bell would've been
blugreen123 2 years ago
Amerasian is an official term used by the INS and DOJ for children fathered by U.S. servicemen while stationed overseas in an Asian country.

oh. i never knew that

Van De Kamp....is that even around anymore? Also isnt that the Bree's last name on Desperate Housewives?

I think it's still around, but only for seafood products.

That PacBell commercial is definitely one of the best I've ever seen. It IS weird, though, that they didn't show the woman at the end.
