  • I just want to say that I'm ashamed of the "Christians" that came and shouted shame on you. It's the so-called Christ followers like them that mess up what God wants to do. He loves everyone! And stupid closed-minded, gay-bashing fake "Christians" that do junk like that tick me off. They need to shut their mouths and stop trying to make life harder for those that have to fight for the regular freedom they deserve everyday already.

  • Speaking on behalf of those of us who are true Christians and respect and love everyone regardless of their sexual orientation (because it doesn't matter one way or the other) I would like to apologize to everyone who was at this protest. I am so so sorry they were acting that way towards you. I pray God blesses you and helps open the minds of each and every one of those close minded religion-bound jerks.

  • Why do ignorant people hate ? They got no mind of their own.Hopefully they can learn someday.Well,tt's a nice thought anyway.Gay people deserve a marriage just like anyone else."My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." —Jesus (John 15:12) Too many Christians have still been pushing some of God's beloved children away from Him and are still in big trouble.God loves gays, too.God doesn't make mistakes.

  • Gays are people, too, dum dum.

  • some straight people.... so stupid and so bigoted. trying to deny people equal rights

  • Why is it pitch black at 6:17? Fuck the people who voted yes on prop 8! It's time that people start standing up for each other and stop crushing the rights of others. It doesn't hurt anyone to get married.

  • Screw your morality.

  • You really want morality? Stop priests from molesting alter boys, Stop Religious leaders from leading their followers to their deaths, Stop husbands from beating their wifes and women from killing their children. What does a group of people who love each other have to do with morality? Is it wrong to be in love? To respect the union and want to express that to the world? I think not...You want morality teach our children to love and respect each other, not hate and violence.

  • " There is still a chance for morality in this country."

The most immoral people are religious bigots. No matter how much you nutjobs pretend you are completely godless.

  • It's immoral to push your religious dogma on others who do not share your religious beliefs.

  • exactly enig

  • I support my gay friends.

  • That's what you call a head shot. :)))

  • Pearls are appropriate for...everything.

  • Remember, science has proven physical attractions are natural and human. Only religious outlawed nature and it's beautiful matrix. Also remember, Calpernia, and probably many who marched, served their country with distinction, and has earned the right to be FREE and herself. Those who yelled terrible things that night might have well pull down their pants and shown their pathetic little understanding of human behaviour. Little do they know that their next life after this will be worse! :-)

  • Thanks for showing support for the protests! We are really glad that you are helping to get the word out, and showing that trans people care about this too. We are just as affected by legislating rights away. After all, if they can do this, whats next? There is another protest in SF this weekend, Jayna and I will be there. Hugs

  • Madrina when you are stupid of course you head will hurt !

  • Are the Christians yelling "Pedophiles"?

    Really??

Um, more than half of registered sex offenders are Christian and almost ALL sex offenders are HETEROSEXUAL.

The stupidity makes my head hurt.

  • when they're registered sex offenders then it's fine but when a gay person wants to love someone else then that crosses the line. The stupidity makes my head hurt, too.

  • We are spending billions of dollars on war, we are at an all-time low in every way here in America, so why spend the energy to mess in people's lives. Leave everyone alone, let them marry whom they wish. This is so not a problem.

  • I'll never understand these people. 40 million dollars donated against gay marriage? How exactly does marriage between two consenting adults affect you? It doesn't. Couldn't that money have gone to something better, like charity? As for the "sinful lifestyle" bullshit, I THOUGHT there was a separation of church and state. You'll never understand the thoughts and feelings of a homosexual, or even make any attempt to, all under the guise of "morality", and that's why we resent you.

  • Calpernia, you do realize that Barney Frank legislated you and I and crossdressers out of the ENDA bill, and it lost. Now they want our support on this.... hmmm....

  • It's true that I can marry any man I want, but I support my gay friends. I don't think Barney represents the average gay person. I've met with lots of people working for real change in all kinds of arenas -- legal, social, medical, etc -- and they have all denounced him. Those that met with him personally reported him to be bitter, unfriendly and mean.

The whole HRC and ENDA thing was a fiasco, and I've personally let HRC people know this. But I am against Prop8 because of it's bigotry.

  • Since when should one groups old tired ethics be law? . As far as corrupting the children a good friend of mine was raised by his mother and her female lover. He is a wonderful young man who had a happy childhood (something my straight parents didn't provide) and is now working on his BA getting top grades in his classes. He has a very bright future ahead of him and (though I shouldn't have to say it as if it's some great quality) he is heterosexual.

  • I think pearls are the original protest jewelry actually... Great that you are out there fighting the good fight!

  • What does disallowing gays to marry have to do with children again? Gays can still adopt (in most states)... and, if not, they can certainly still have children if they want (surrogates, artificial insemination, etc). I wonder how many times they denied women the right to vote, or denied integration before the laws were changed... So please, don't think it's over yet. People have never stopped until equality has won... neither will we. ;)

  • "LOVEEET (14 hours ago) - cryan71 has sex with dad bodies yes on 8"

I'd imagine that all mommies have "sex with dad bodies", that's how we all got here. Including gays, lesbians and transsexual people. LOL.

  • So sad to see such ignorant people. Everyone deserves to marry whomever they please! Shame on these hateful people that claim to be children of God. God don't like ugly!

  • You even look stunning while fighting institutionalized homophobia and inequality!

  • Found a great website for those who now want to get your names removed from the church records. The Mormons prop up their membership numbers by refusing to take off names of those who no longer attend the Mormon Church.

The website mormonnomore (dot) com gives fantastic advice and step by step in how to escape Mormonism.

  • Respectfully, I have a question.

How is not allowing same-sex marriage going to ensure that children have a mother and father in their lives?

Aren't there single parents right now?

  • wish I was there too

  • Wish I could have gone. It was like a huge party.

  • It's really nice to see you attending this rally in support for equal rights, Cally. I wish I could have attended, but sadly I'm staying too far away from it.

  • Kindly keep your ill-guided bigoted morals to yourself. The rest of us normal people don't want to partake. And as Calpernia said, if having a mommy and daddy was such a big issue, maybe the $40 million used to attempt to enact discrimination in California's constitution should have been used to help keep heterosexual marriages together, since more than half of them fail.

  • If all kids need a mommy and a daddy, you are terribly hypocritical for spending $40,000,000 fighting same sex marriage (3%-10% of the population) instead of fighting heterosexual divorce (***50%*** of ALL STRAIGHT MARRIAGES END IN DIVORCE). What kind of morals ignore the biggest danger to children EVER: HETEROSEXUAL DIVORCE!?!

That's reason #937482734 why "you people" disgust me, and by "you people" I mean hypocritical "moralists".

  • Yeah, for real. It's all about exclusion. Someone to look down upon.

  • another thing... when kids sign up for the military- to my knowledge- is there anything that requires them to be straight? because if there isnt, that means our country is just fine with gay men/women going to war to fight for our rights to be free... only to come home and be denied marriage..?? Somehow that just doesnt seem fair.

  • There is a 'Don't ask, Don't tell' policy which means you can be gay and in the military, but you can't be out and in the military (which basically means they have the right to discriminate against LGBT members of the armed service).

  • Oh Calpernia what were you thinking... PEARLS?? a simple gold chain would have been wayyy more appropiate...lol.

  • I was wearing high-heeled combat boots with my little black dress, though!

  • So that is what the fashionable protester is wearing this post-election season?

    Must get myself a pair.

PS I have trouble watching the video in one piece. It keeps saying that it is no longer available.

  • Well, as Oliver Hardy would say... "nmmmm, nmmm!" : )

  • I agree every american citizen is equal

I'm extremely mad about the fact we still live in a country where other are treated wrongly just because they ask for marriage

i'm glad calpernia posted this (go calpernia)

  • this kind of ignorance in our country reminds me of the kind of ignorance we had during slavery. sorry.. someone had to say it. its sad. everyone deserves basic human rights... straight or gay, black or white. i dont get the big deal?

  • Hell Girl

next Time There is a Protest, let me know

I'll fly there, and be right beside all of you

  • Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Keep it up.

  • What happened to the video?! It says it's no longer available...?!?! <:(

  • yea I cant see it either after several refreshes to the video.

  • Woah, I wish I lived there instead of shitty Panama. I WANNA FIGHT PROTEST TOOOOOOO

I'm kind of too young though. Meh.

  • Panama city? or Panama as in the country?

  • Panama the country

  • I was there. Here is who i saw marching.

    Blacks

    Whites

    Asians

    Latinos

    Gays

    Lesbians

    Straights

    Families

Most touching moment: The small grocery store on Santa Monica, handing out cups of water to marchers. No charge.

  • You are leading by example. Keep it up! Words cannot express how much I wish success for you. Until we are all free, none of us are.

  • Thank you for sharing this with all of us. I wish I was in Cali with everyone.

I will be going to the NYC protest in front of city hall on Nov 15.

We have to stand up for our rights!

  • Motherfucking Christian protest protesters. 3:30 - "Pedophiles"? Brickheads.

  • Great video Calpernia, you look beautiful!

  • You are all doing a great job. Only wish I could have been there to add my voice.

  • way to go Calpernia, I was so depressed and pissed that 8 passed. We can't stop fighting.

  • I was proud to be here! I had the bleach-blonde faux hawk, not sure if I'm seen in the vid, but I'll check later. Thanks so much for your support and posting this!

  • For my 21st birthday, all I asked from my dad was to vote No on 8 for me.

I.... can't believe it passed. I just cant.

  • I was sitting in a cafe on Sunset & Le Brea & heard this massive roar coming down Sunset.I.ran outside & there was the protest marching down the street..needless to say i was moved...I can only hope & pray that voice will not be silenced or lost in the mass hysteria & intolerant world we live in for we all deserve at best a lil piece of happiness.&. at worst some human Dignity

  • It's IN-FREAKIN-CREDIBLE!

I'm pretty sure I heard one Christianist (actual term, look it up) shout "pedophiles"!!

    WTF??? Are we in Jamaica???

How the hell is it these people STILL see pedophiles and gays as the same thing???

Are we in 1945 as well???

Kuddos to all you guys for keeping cool!

I would have definitely gone berserk and lit that "homo sex is sin poster" on fire!

Anyhow, thanks for posting this video Cal!

    It's a very important movement!

    & you looked sophisticated/gorgeous as usual. :]

  • Great video though... KEEP EM FLYING:)

  • Might I suggest that you change the term from GAY MARRAGE to CIVIL UNION... Since Marrage to the under informed voter means SACRAMENT. Which to the Catholic, Baptist, Mormon... ect... sounds like the would force them to hold gay marrages in their church... Where Civil Union is the civil rights and protection marrage provides.

If you want to get married in your church... take it up with you Priest, Minister, Pastor... ect... Seperation of church and state...

  • But it is the government that makes the distinction between a civil union and a marriage and defines the rights of each accordingly. A civil union is only legal on a state level and does not provide the same federal protections and benefits of marriage.

  • Yeah... But I still think that calling it Marriage is what is scaring alot of the Mormon, Catholic, Baptist... ect voters... who hear it and think of it as a sacrament of their church. And I am not sure if the government ether State or federal would want to get involved in a Church and State matter.I know it's a heck of a task... but maybe you have to go the State by State way on Civil Union... I would think this method would be a lot easier sell too.

Just my opinion... but good luck with it:)

  • "maybe you have to go the State by State way on Civil Union... I would think this method would be a lot easier sell too."

Racial segragationists of 50+ years ago tried to sell "separate but equal" but that's just bigotry dressed up in plausible deniability. It says "your marriages aren't as good as ours, they're less special" and even "God doesn't consider you gays married." Discrimination should not be permitted and definitely not in a state's constitution. That is tacit theocracy.

  • But They don't want just a Civil union.

EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN, is supposed to be equal, and have equal opportunities.

    What ever happened to that???

They Want a Marriage, just like anyone else gets, and they deserve it, just like any other human does.

  • I'm not sure on this.

Marriage is a legal term. Unless California wants to change all Marriages into Civil Unions (I think some european countries do this), then it wouldn't be seperate but equal since the only thing you could get from the state is a Civil Union license.

However, I don't think the Yes on 8 people want that. They want a second class citizenship for gay people.

  • I also find it funny that the Yes on 8 people are pro-civil union when they tried to use Prop 22 to fight the passage of the civil union law.

I would not be surprised if they try to use Prop 8 to rescind the Civil Unions law. I suspect they are already targeting it.

  • but that is not want Gays want.

They deserve a marriage just like anyone else, and if they can't have one.

    Then neither should anyone else.

  • i love u calpernia!

  • vid quality much better this time! thank you callie! xoxoxo

  • I just got home... my feet!!!! ;D I would walk 500 miles for equality.

  • Wow! That video really gives a sense of how intense it is to be in the thick of a passionate protest.

For me, I'd be too angry to say ANYTHING. That's just how I get when I'm pissed off. Looks like Calpernia may be the same way.

  • I deleted the original upload of this video, this one is edited better. Sorry about the lost comments!
