Carbon isn't actually the problem. Self sustainability and energy independence from big corporations is what the issue should really be about. Carbon is a smokescreen, so to speak.

Carbon IS taxable though. Think about what that means for a moment.

Low income housing are indeed the worse on utility bills. the energy bill was huge in winter time and that was setting the heat at 50*  When i moved out and into a more "modern home", well a 1970, i noticed utility was half despite sq ft being double. Then i replaced every bulb in the house with CFL and instantly saved $30 in electricity a month.

This is important because not only is it allowing the poorer people of New York to save money but it is helping the environment at the same time. Strong economy = healthier environment = more money in people's pockets. This is the green message that more people need to get across.
