wouldn't it just be 4 regular bars of 32 8th notes plus 1 beat. Even though I tried counting it this way I didnt come even close to landing on any of the downbeats. Its seems as though there are many odd subdivisions within the the head and maybe an underlying hemiola perhaps. Either way nicely down!
The drummer knows what he's at. Interesting thing about the 33/8; the verse of Master of Puppets by Metallica uses what could arguably be called 33/8 but is more easily split into fours and fives, so alot of people are actually more familiar with this than they know.
The entire show is available at the Kennedy Center website (see Millenium Stage performances). The video and audio quality is similar to what we have here.
There is more video coming from the recent CD release party at Bosendorfer in New York. Both the video quality and audio are better. I am working on this now and should have something in a few days.
SUPER !!! Now if only the audio portion of the Kennedy Center Show was available somewhere...
The back story on Matt is amazing, but as I'm pretty certain he'd agree, it's the music that counts [no pun intended] and this tune Really Rocks The Center !!!
This time signature certainly has a good swing to it ^-^

I think Matt has it phrased as a compound 7/4+7/4+5/8.

you can just count it (as the drummer does) in 7/4 - 7/4 - 5/8, but still it's good.
