@akrivosdiavolos73 smyrna is not greek and will never be, still not learned?, it is since 700 years Turkish and before 1918 it was only 50% greek most of them came from aegean islands as immigrants, smyrna city had greek neighbourhoods but all villages and cities surrounding smyrna were 100% Turkish since year 1300. Greek army burned many Turkish cities and villages before Smyrna was recaptured. Smyrna is today a very big and beautifull city only now without racist hatefull greeks.

@akrivosdiavolos73 1 Greeks could have burned the city because after they were defeated by Turks Greek army fled to the sea in its path it burned all Turkish villages and towns, Manisa , Alasehir, Salihli, all these and many more historic Turkish cities were burned by Greeks, and probably they burned Smyrna themselves so they could blame Turks or not to let the Greek goods fall in hands of the Turks.

2 Or maybe Turks burned for revenge of all the Turkish cities Greeks had burned while fleeing.

@akrivosdiavolos73 Anyhow the burning of Smyrna is not important at all because the Greek army burned many Turkish cities and villages in the interior of Anatolia. Greeks started burning cities and burned more than Turks ever did but in the end they change history and blame Turks for everything, thats how Greek history works. Smyrna of 19th century was a Turkish city ancient smyrna was abondened for centuries, Smyrna was created again in 1500 before that it was a village fo centuries.

@akrivosdiavolos73 THe Smyrna of the Ottoman empire in 1900 was 10 times bigger than the ancient Smyrna of Byzantine and Roman periods. In 1900 it had 300,000 population.

The Smyrna Izmir in Turkey today is 10 times bigger than it was in 1900 now 3 million people live. Izmir now is 100times bigger than the byzantine smyrna, Byzantine smyrna had 2 small churches 1 castle and 100 houses it was nothing.
