About Opel (Vauxhall). Guys would you buy a car from a company firm that ows billions of dollars? As far as i know the could shut down and end up like Rover . Imagine giving 20.000 Euros or Pounds and ending up with a car from a company that closed. What im saying is there must be a reason why they are on the edge of the cliff . Not saying that the Insignia is not a good car. Its a great car but what im saying is that Opel (Vauxhall) is a terrible company. :)

For example, VW is know for building the TSI engines in my opinion are the best engines in market.In Greece Skoda's are for taxi drivers ofc there is nothing wrong with that but people buy them cause they are cheaper not better. The more the money you give the better car you will get.

Skoda superb isn't as "superb" inside...especially texture of the plastics and fit in some points. Feels more like an octavia stretched and is actually worse on the inside than its smaller brother. Oh yeah and looks funny in the front and hideous in the back. Actually it doesn't seem as a contender after all, even the prices aren't that much good...

The Mondeo never made me feel any more excited over the others I've driven they all fell Numb and dull. The only car in this class I would happily walk away with is a Skoda Octavia. @ps3k1d Aye, I used to drive the new Mondeo's quite a lot. Apart from that they are big, fairly comfortable and feel nice to be in they are utterly crap. They look nice but don't be drawn in by looks. They are foul quality everything falls apart, wears away, peels off or rattles. Ford had the ingredients for what could have been a class winner but Ford being Ford just didn't want to make an effort with any of the quality and chose to cost snip and cut corners instead of building it right.

The Mondeo is crap and has no quality whatsoever and gets malfunctions galore, the Insignias interior falls to pieces and keeps coming up with code 24 faults, the Avensis is good I would definately never put one down but the Octavias are the dogs. Only decent cars win me over!!!

All Mondeo models are now assembled in Germany. Parts are sourced from China, Uk, Belgium, Taiwan, Italy and Germany. They've evolved to become the best all-rounder, in their class. While they rival both the VW and Vauxhall/Opel, they perform very well against the BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus. But, this is a tough class for manufacturers to stand head and shoulders above their rivals. They're all great cars...........personally, I love the Mondeo. It has grown up!
I own a ford monde 2002, made in germany actually, best car i've ever had the pleasure of driving. Comfortable, many many acccessories for such a cheap ''regular'' car, its not that common (actually there are fewer mondeo's in england than aston martins). If you have the chance i recommend it.
I think the VW is the better car, you don't judge a car by how fun it is, you judge by how it drives and looks. VW's have always been good cars the passat was the most luxurious but the ford....... @TheRW1873 Ford have always had the blueprints for good cars. The Mondeo could have had a lot of Audi potential but Ford being Ford they choose to make money instead of a car which is why the Mondeo has always been crap. If only the Mondeo was built by Audi, BMW or Toyota it would have been brilliant. But being slovenly built by Ford the Mondeo will never be desirable. Don't get me wrong I would own a Mondeo if it was an A4 in drag, its just that its a Ford product that puts me off it.

I have just bought an Insignia sri the best car i have ever had. It is 10 times better than my vectra which was also a great car. The other 2 cars dont do nothing for me the vw looks rubbish and the interior is very dull. Also the ford dont look much better even though its the titanium x model.
@jonnyd89 This is not a fair test as they have shown a rather basic Insignia and a very high spec Mondeo with the VW somewhere in between. Lower spec Fords have manually operated windows in the rear. (The cheapest Ford Ka still has them in the front, also)

I think there is too much emphasis, these days in sporting in vehicular reviewing. Cars and coaches designed to take one from one place to the next. And comfort has been sacrificed in most marques of cars. I salute VW and the yanks for going against this grain, since they are trying to keep certain cars from going down this route. You can tell, also through the use of smaller wheels and larger tyres. This improves ride so much.

@MrZaralios It depends what you describe as a "better" company. For instance I like value for money cars which VW definitely aren`t. They have better quality built but also are too expensive. The design itself is much worse than Fords.
In these type of cars "fun" is not the case. I believe when you buy such cars you care about the attitude the style and the power these cars hold. A VW has much more power than a Ford so does OPEL/Vauxhall. (VW>Opel/Vauxhall>Ford).The Mondeo might be FUN to drive but you are NOT buying a sports car! These are family/sedans and not RS/ST,GTI and OPC ... These are family cars... Luxury comes first when in such type of cars and not "fun". If you want "fun" buy a sports car. Vw wins in my opinion :)
@KevinWorthen basically a long time ago vauxhall and opel was two different companys in GMs euro range of cars then basically due to cost cutting opel and vauxhall have the same line up of cars. also theres always been that argument about the names but its likely due to opel is a german brand and vauxhall is a british brand and just been left to keep the british badge on them guess to appeal more to the british customers. plus GM has rebaged cars for years in the usa example chevy and gmc.

The Passat is a lot more refined than both the Mondeo and Insignia.
Bear in mind that both Ford and Vx inflate list prices i.e. you will work out of a Ford or Vx showroom paying quite a bit less than you would for an equivilent Passat.
@scimg Refinement not seen in any passat. By Matt criticized the plastic panel in VW. The Passat has to change. It seems car of the last century. The mondeo is magnificent! Rugged, fun to drive. VW is people's car. Ford has a hit in dirigiblilidade unmatched in all categories. Finally, those who enjoy antique and bric-a-vw leads. Ford is for those who enjoy pleasure driving, besides the better finish. I do not know what the insignia is doing here, because this category is the focus and jetta.
Passat is just too old to compete with any of newer cars in class, and Peugeot 508 and Citroen C5 are just too good to be beaten by any of the cars in class. They are by far the most comfortable, have by far the best interiors (especially 508), handle great (especially 508), have great engines, best equipment and overall feel like better cars than others.
@derbigpr500 Ford Mondeo and Mazda 6 drive best, but they have pretty cheap interiors, Honda Accord drives pretty good, has great interior, but it has very little room inside and it has no turbo-charged engines to compete with other. Opel Insignia is very comfortable and quiet, has great engines and drives pretty good, but interior quality is not up there with the best. Citroen C5 is BY FAR the most quiet, comfortable and pleasant to drive, with great interior, but its not very sporty.
@derbigpr500 And at the end, Peugeot has the best built interior, has great engines (developed together with bmw), best comfort/handling combination in class (feels like Audi A4, while being more comfortable and smooth), loads of room inside, loads of equipment....etc etc...its just feels like a far better car than almost anything in class. Passat literally looks like crap next to it, especially if we look at interiors. I think that 508 is a proper premium car to be compared with A4 and BMW3.

@JELH I'd put it like that probably as well. I like the Insignia , its has the best interior of the 3 in this video, best engines, and feels like a more expensive car. Passat is just below average today. Mondeo is very cheaply built inside, and Mazda is typically japanese, drives good, looks good on outside, but interior is filled with plastic and designed in 10 mins.

I have just bought an Insignia sri the best car i have ever had. It is 10 times better than my vectra which was also a great car. The other 2 cars dont do nothing for me the vw looks rubbish and the interior is very dull. Also the ford dont look much better even though its the titanium x model.

@jonnyd89 This is not a fair test as they have shown a rather basic Insignia and a very high spec Mondeo with the VW somewhere in between. Lower spec Fords have manually operated windows in the rear. (The cheapest Ford Ka still has them in the front, also)

I think there is too much emphasis, these days in sporting in vehicular reviewing. Cars and coaches designed to take one from one place to the next. And comfort has been sacrificed in most marques of cars. I salute VW and the yanks for going against this grain, since they are trying to keep certain cars from going down this route. You can tell, also through the use of smaller wheels and larger tyres. This improves ride so much.

In these type of cars "fun" is not the case. I believe when you buy such cars you care about the attitude the style and the power these cars hold. A VW has much more power than a Ford so does OPEL/Vauxhall. (VW>Opel/Vauxhall>Ford).The Mondeo might be FUN to drive but you are NOT buying a sports car! These are family/sedans and not RS/ST,GTI and OPC ... These are family cars... Luxury comes first when in such type of cars and not "fun". If you want "fun" buy a sports car. Vw wins in my opinion :)

@KevinWorthen basically a long time ago vauxhall and opel was two different companys in GMs euro range of cars then basically due to cost cutting opel and vauxhall have the same line up of cars. also theres always been that argument about the names but its likely due to opel is a german brand and vauxhall is a british brand and just been left to keep the british badge on them guess to appeal more to the british customers. plus GM has rebaged cars for years in the usa example chevy and gmc.

The Passat is a lot more refined than both the Mondeo and Insignia.
Bear in mind that both Ford and Vx inflate list prices i.e. you will work out of a Ford or Vx showroom paying quite a bit less than you would for an equivilent Passat.
VW don't really negotiate prices.

@scimg Refinement not seen in any passat. By Matt criticized the plastic panel in VW. The Passat has to change. It seems car of the last century. The mondeo is magnificent! Rugged, fun to drive. VW is people's car. Ford has a hit in dirigiblilidade unmatched in all categories. Finally, those who enjoy antique and bric-a-vw leads. Ford is for those who enjoy pleasure driving, besides the better finish. I do not know what the insignia is doing here, because this category is the focus and jetta.

Currently in class:
- Peugoet 508
- Citroen C5
- Opel Insignia or Ford Mondeo
- Honda Accord
- Mazda 6
- VW Passat or Toyota Avensis
Passat is just too old to compete with any of newer cars in class, and Peugeot 508 and Citroen C5 are just too good to be beaten by any of the cars in class. They are by far the most comfortable, have by far the best interiors (especially 508), handle great (especially 508), have great engines, best equipment and overall feel like better cars than others.

@derbigpr500 Ford Mondeo and Mazda 6 drive best, but they have pretty cheap interiors, Honda Accord drives pretty good, has great interior, but it has very little room inside and it has no turbo-charged engines to compete with other. Opel Insignia is very comfortable and quiet, has great engines and drives pretty good, but interior quality is not up there with the best. Citroen C5 is BY FAR the most quiet, comfortable and pleasant to drive, with great interior, but its not very sporty.

@derbigpr500 And at the end, Peugeot has the best built interior, has great engines (developed together with bmw), best comfort/handling combination in class (feels like Audi A4, while being more comfortable and smooth), loads of room inside, loads of equipment....etc etc...its just feels like a far better car than almost anything in class. Passat literally looks like crap next to it, especially if we look at interiors. I think that 508 is a proper premium car to be compared with A4 and BMW3.

@JELH I'd put it like that probably as well. I like the Insignia , its has the best interior of the 3 in this video, best engines, and feels like a more expensive car. Passat is just below average today. Mondeo is very cheaply built inside, and Mazda is typically japanese, drives good, looks good on outside, but interior is filled with plastic and designed in 10 mins.
