hi bobby this is a great tutorial! i'm a beginner and learning a lot from users like you on youtube, however you mentioned that you cannot make the clip rotate in picture to picture effect, to do it - use the cropping, kern burns and rotation effect on the clip/picture that you imbedded in the original image or clip.

you can rotate picture in picture clips if you go to the little menu thing (the one where you can adjust transparency) and then go to cropping and rotation

The more I find out about iMovie the more I agree with you. If you know what you are doing you can do a lot with any editing software, but iMovie is pretty awesome.

i do a lot of video editing on my mac, i've been using one for almost 5 years, NEVER knew about these features in '09. i'm sure a lot more people would be inclined to use it for green screening if it was an option that was more simple to find!

If your really serios and u have the money, go with final cut, but if your doing baisic movie making, imovie is more than satisfactory, plus there shud b an update to imovie within the year, so its only gonna get better.

You can only have that song if you have an Apple computer/laptop because it comes with the laptop/computer or desk top! So if you do not have a laptop/desk top from Apple i suggest you get one they are really great computers!! When you do get one you click on the musical note in the right hand corner in Imovie and scroll down a little bit then the name will be there!!!

@TheTerminator1238 when you click on the music note the non-itune related music will show up but in that little box there is an option up at the top where it will show all your media from anywhere you have downloaded it to like limeware!

Ok I'm smart just answered my own question...

When you click on the clip settings the PIP Effect controls the transition. Theres dissolve, zoom, and swap.

you cant rotate the video like any degrees you want, but you can rotate it 90 degrees, you just have to click on the video you want to rotate in your timeline and in the bottom left corner of the mini view choose the option cut and rotate.

I have iMovie 08 and I don't think it's so bad. I'm trying to convince my parents to upgrade to iLife 09. the green screen effect looks really cool, I don't have an actual green screen but my friends and I have used green poster paper and it works just as well for amateur projects ;) I guess this is another reason to upgrade!

@CJandMP actually i dont think you can make it transparent, the clip that i had overlaid was made in motion 3 and ther is an option during export to export clip without solid backgournd, and then wen i put it in imovie, it was transparent andi just assumed that it was an option in imovie, im sorry for the inconvenience and for taking so long to get back to you.
