  • im really excited for my first aikido session next saturday!!!!!!!!!

  • ..basically a Jujitsu technique..

  • @Aromaticduck Basically its a basic Aikido technique.

  • AWESOME

  • My primary sport (martial art) is boxing, trained under a professional world champion. But now that I am at an age that I've lost most of my athletic ability, I love that aikido still gives me the ability to defend myself even if I am now much weaker. Oh yeah, I've used a technique or two against a much bigger opponent in a real situation. I was once grabbed from behind by a much bigger and strongger guy, within one second he was helpless on the ground befuddled. Lol.

  • Excellent display of basics. We continually practice our basics at my school (especially the black belts). Its been so much fun to take these foundations and explore them to make them fit each of us. Keep up the great work and vids

  • hands 2

  • hands 2

  • No matter how long u been doin Aikido, "it always go back to the basics!! All the techniques derive from the most basic of the techniques...

    6th kyu Aikido :)

  • its not katate tori

    its ai hamni katate dori

  • actually it's hanmi, or hammi. the "n" FINISHES a syllable. it doesn't start the new one.

  • I tried on a taller person and this can never work on him.

When i push him down,he just walks towards the front and he nevers bend not more than 45 degrees.Tips?

  • make sure you make the correct pression with your body upon his elbow his elbow, this way you get to make him bend and with little movement of your knee over him you can make him fall down. Hope this helps!

  • He just follows where i am going D:

He nevers fall over. His other hand is holding a bread and he is just muching away and walking towards the direction i am gooing too.

  • When you grab his elbow and do the arm movement to push him on the ground, do a much bigger step! I0m quite sure he will have to blend and wil stop munching as his mouth will be full of mat ;) I tried with a taller person, and what I did was, while I made the arm movement to the ground a did a big step ( nearly as a little jump, and his arm has to be tense so he cannot move it) I hope this helps you :)

  • Haha,i will try it next time.Thanks!

  • It would be better if you put up a video on it. That way, people can give you tips. Is the taller person a highly skilled martial artist? If so, it is no wonder he can't be taken down easily.

  • I would just do it the ura way... You don't need to opose his strength nor ki... you just guide him gently to the ground

  • @Lometar Once we did some suwariwaza ikkyo.

First we should do it irimi, then ura and then "normal" (whatever comes at us).

Our Shihan stops us at one point and says "You know, you guys always seem to do anything except what I am saying. At first hardly anyone did irimi or ura properly. And now when you are supposed to do something in between YOU ALL DO IT PERFECTLY!"

Irimi is simply for the theoretical situation that he let's you go through his center without opposing.

  • Once again great execution and well demonstrated. You guys do quality work and post great videos...Keep up the excellent work friends!! God bless...Peace
