Real Time Hand Posture/Gesture Recognition with OpenCV

Hi cvsisterteam, would this work in a more complex background? I can see that the background at the moment is a simple white, but what about if you had things behind you? If the answer is not. have you try doing background substraction so that it could work in any none moving background? do you have the source code available as open source? have you writen anything about this where I can go and read to develop my own?
