holden was feeling the pinch and needed to cut back costs it was cheaper for them to import chev gen 3 engines then to continue building there own,  the end !

then in mid 1989 they made a batch of factory stroker engines using a local company harrop suplyed the steel crank ,these engines were the last holden v8 ever made a factory crate engine is become a rare find these days . holden then started importing gen 111 s .and all production stoped for our mighty aussie v8 it was a end of a era! that dominated Australian motor sport.

Am I wrong in assuming that if your old enough to own a car that your smart enough to educate yourself on the vehicle you claim to own? HOLDEN is a division of General Motors and the main source of engines is Chevy unless its Japanese then it would be Toyota or Suzuki. In Australia holden built it own 5.0L v8 engines form 1969 thought to 1999

the last run of these engines were factory stroked to 5.7 liters using a harrop crank and rods .it is not a chev , it looks nothing like a chev small block.

its all aussie built cast iron block factory roller cam 5.7L v8. .

@Blackinterceptor999 holden was still importing SBC engine 307s 327 ,350s up till 1972 then they stoped and contiued to just build there own ,, in 1986 the 5.0L HOLDEN 308ci v8 was destroked back to 4.9L

CAMS changed the race rules so holden destroked the engine to meet requirements

in 1988 they revamped the hole engine with new better flowing heads fuel injection

and roller type cam. . am i boring you yet ,,?

Ok potsinokio doesnt have a clue. To start with this isnt a 250 crossflow its a 244 DOHC 4.0L Turbo. Now Yes the nissan RB30 was used in the VL you got something right. But the V6 Ford has never used,that v6 you talk about is a Buick engine from the states. The whole lot of them are from the states VN to VE!

Holden only sell cars and engines from different companies, ie: The holden rodeo is an isuzu, the vl commodore had a nissan motor in it, and when GM tried to make a V6 engine, they couldnt get them to preform properly so they gave the idea to FORD :P and then they sold it back to them and thats where the v6 engines were really manufactured first, nowa days anything that comes from holden either have ford stamped on them somewhere or the original idea originated from ford... So there ya go :D

Inline doesn't increase fuel consumption, it's technically a superior design to a v6 but harder to fit in the nose of a car due to it's length and more expensive to make(I think). Ford 6 has bulk torque due to it's large 4 litre capacity and ultra efficeint cylinder head design. I rule by the way, lol.
