  • this is actually a bit dissapointing.

  • @marcellny Nonsense, Pavarotti would not have tolerated it, for he always insisted that everything go his way. Here, he “disobeyed” Mozart, and everybody knows it was wrong, because at this tempo it sounds a lot less than beautiful!

BRAVOOO!!!!

  • how can you blame the tenor for the conductors hurried tempo? this man could sing this aria twice as slow. rudel hurried it. not pav. so... manolly... do some homework. the conductor wanted to be performance practice acceptable, thereby missing luciano's luscious sound.

  • Beautiful voice... but bad taste. He rushed through that aria as if he didn't understand the words. And everything was just forte.

    Italian composers suited him better...

  • Many a Class A tenor has floundered attempting to sing this great aria whose apparent simplicity belies the difficulty attached to singing Mozart. Sadly, this legendary tenor is no exception. Mozart is Mozart and Puccini.....!

  • Well, I am a big fan of Pavarotti, but I just don't like his treatment of this at all. Just slowed down and sung more lightly and it would have been 100% better

  • ...O sole mio...?

  • Certified Intergalactic! Never sounded so good than with Pavarotti.

  • ma che andavano di fretta? :-))

  • Ugly, insensitive--A perfect example of how not to sing Mozart. How could Pavarotti, whose romantic repertory was incomparably great, treat this simpler, clearer music with such obvious contempt?

  • @arlechino2 he is a perfect morzatiano,

  • Very nice, but Topi Lehtipuu does this better

  • demasiado ràpido y feo

  • the best ,as usual

  • Can Belto!

  • requiesca in pace, maestro.

    I can't stand it.

Punkt.

  • the maestro sings it like lucevan, is it too much for bel canto?

  • Certified Intergalactic! The Pavarotti Constellation! There'll be no one else like him.

  • @mendelssohndocet Imbecile senza orecchio

  • bravo

  • He is singing the notes well, but he forgot to put his heart on the words. It almost looks like he didn't know Italian and were just reading the words without knowing the meaning. hehehehe.

  • this isnt mozart as most say but pav's voice is like honey that flows it just so tasty

  • @supergluemanxx

Or maybe this is Mozart and others not...

  • Too bad we don't have recordings of Mozart in rehearsal. Then we'd know what he really wanted!

  • His voice is too big for it. He's a Tito or Idomeneo, but not a Ferrando. The man is still a legend, though.

  • @IfByWhiskey486 I agree, I think Topi Lehtipuu is much better.

  • @IfByWhiskey486 are you serious. Check out 1:45 .

  • @ 1:38

  • @mendelssohndocet Io concordo pienamente.

  • I hate him singing this aria! Thats so not mozart.

but hes still a great singer.

  • He realy had an afinity with Mozart .You can tell he liked singing him.

  • @tenorismo Are you being facetious? Please tell me you are. I mean, maybe you dig him singing Mozart but I feel this is totally out of his wheelhouse.

  • @tenorismo

Yes, he said once that singing Mozart is like a remedy to voice after singing heavier roles. Mozart is healthy for your voice he said.

  • chi ti piace per curiosità???

  • tempo is terrible. but luciano is great. even though mozart is not his forte

  • Pavarotti gives hope for heavier tenors voices how to get through this difficult aria. Even if the tempo is rushed, he just stands for it 100%. No doubt at all. And he sings with his true voice!

  • ovviamente è un brano nn adatto a pavarotti

  • Certified Intergalactic!

Proprio antimusicale. Ancora nel '91 l'avrebbe potuta fare meravigliosamente. Mah. Si vede che gli stava antipatica.

  • @NedRorem LOL Garibaldino .

  • Great singing voice : thank you for posting. Pavarotti's voice is powerful and thrilling. What a shame there are so many Youtube viewers who think themselves as great opera critics

  • I'm sure you're not worried about the negative comments... just people who are so overly obsessed with Pavarotti that they can't be realistic when it comes to "discussing" his performances. I agree with you one-hundred percent, I'm sure half of the people who watch this video don't even know what his "vocal fach" is.

  • lolololol, they may not know what a fach is!

  • great tempo!! we dont know what tempo mozart had in mind and it really bothers me when we get these tiny voices try to make this their puccini moment. it just doenst work whe one tries to milk this aria. it should have energy and feeling and maybe some ornaments in the last verse if the tenor feels it neccessary. or if the conductor lets them. would have loved to hear the big pav sing this whole role! very hard aria but easier than dies bildnis!

  • I love your name!
