Live recordings are so wonderful: the coughs and splutters, the creaking seats, the continuous hissing noise. One hardly needs a pianist - there's already such a wealth of sound!
@lsbrother if you haven't already, look up 4'33 by John Cage. It's brilliant if you have an open mind and seems like something you might enjoy based on the comment (:
that's the most beautiful pair of hands and technical dexterity i've seen on any male pianist. the flow of his wrists really compliments the ease of sound that he produces.
U understand that u are making me re- asses my Hough Chekassky preferance? The live Chekassky is better than the studio Cherkassky on Youtube. The Cherkassky is more strictly 'Godowskyan' in-approach than Hough, but the hough is extraordinarely beautiful in it's own right. So 'BRAVO' to each. I'm glad we have them both.
Each time Cherkassky played this, he was different. He plays this kind of music similar to Hofmann or Friedman. Hough does quite well also. Cherkassky must've inspired him.
Godowski is fiendishly hard to play. Have you tried his Chopin Etudes ?!

The thing, of course is Cherkassky's absolutely inimitable sound.

yeah, he is the 'Bentley' among pianists- olde world sound coupled with modern pianists' power. he has it all.

Cherkassky always produced a beautiful full-toned cantabile and demonstrates what is missing from most of today's pianists.
