  • this guy definitely masturbates in the mirror while high-fiving himself.

  • so if he's from the future and thinks computers n all are crap, why did he put it up on youtube..?? he should have just put it on his puff of vapor :p

  • I wonder if you can smoke part of the city? The dude has definitely smoking something.

  • i love dare thinking. fantastic idea - what about you make it real?

  • Chlorophilia. Sounds like a fetish.

  • You r crazy!!!

  • So, how did this plant thing came along? Some biological nanotech or something?

  • wtf this guy is on the future of drugs i dont get this are these plants or the city if it is the city then go fuck yourself it sucks

  • is he high?

  • People don't have idea of " growing home" or "organic city" right now. But if these ideas spread over the world, people's thought will shift to make new city and homes slowly. I want to live in biomimic city.

  • @Akkkico You better call james cameron cause he's the only person who can build one

  • @willbraham Yeah, the movie and media have strong impact on human's cultures. If the bio-home is advertised repeatedly on online and newspaper, it will be " common home" to us. I wish people can live in organic city as a part of nature.

  • wat

  • DREAM ON

  • Sounds like a Los Angeles version of the planer Pandora in "Avatar"

  • What the Heck???

  • Potheads crack me up.

  • i do not like the texture of that transportation whatever, i'm not getting the point this guy is talking about, its too alien!

  • Damn i dnt knw wat this dude has been smoking but i want some!!!!!!!!

  • Total BS. It still assumes that humans have control over everything, and that we can "think" up a "better" future. This concept is more antiquated than the crummy graphics. Try again.

  • This is a spaceship? Or is it my miscoception?

  • I dont like this. Too abstract.

  • i dont want to live in that world

  • haaaaha!

  • not very concrete!

  • nice, but i think we gonna have to built the cities underground, because climate change will force us to go underground or die. the surface will be unhabitable due to an ice age or a volcanic eruption from yellowstone.

  • lmao

  • thevenusproject . com

    research it!

  • Very cool take on architecture, opens closed minds to other possibilities which may steam some creative person to act upon on.

Ps. He's high on that 'cloud' xD

  • Is there any real science behind any of this or is it just a fancy idea?

  • What?

  • this version of LA. reminds me of Spilbergs version of LA. Demolition man where people became dorks ~_~ and where affraid of faul language

  • Comment removed

  • no thx man i like woods and stuff and i would love too have more greens areas in the world but not that much i love cars dude this is just sily so a great big huge noooooo tho this future city

  • hahah wtf?

  • An interesting idea... instead of trying to control our environment, we allow our environment to control itself. I wonder though, that if humans allowed this self aware, artificially intelligent technology to grow itself, why would it be so concerned about creating spaces, transportation, and communication for humans? I respectfully disagree with you, I would argue that even in this futuristic Utopian world you depicted there would still need to be some element of human control.

  • It would be nice if we weren't completely cut off from nature but this vid is definitely some hippie BS. A little grass is fine but not too much :)

  • Well none of that is going to happen. Well, maybe the big earthquake. Other than that, just modern hippie babble.

  • wow the future sucks

  • Cloud commuication??? LOL!! the whole concept is like the planet Pandora in the AVATAR movie. When and how it is going to happen??? no one knows and no one in the present world will be alive to see and prove it.

  • Untrue mostly. Reality begins with ideas and intentions. The notionof an intelligent cloud mirrors the intelligent ethers that has been around for a few thousand years. The ambient universe is the source of light and sound. When these energies slow they become visible light, audible sound and geometry including the biological entities perceiving these things. 'Cloud' here is another word for manifesting intention. I agree that the form of this solution remains to be seen.

  • LOL

"I'm a 114 years old and i have a good 30 years more to live."

"There where these things called 'Cars'"

"TV,Computer,Cell Phones, it has all hell"

    XDDD

  • Nice Video to watch..Thanks.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

  • This is too high for me. I don't understand the concept. The building material will be organic, living and moving around? This is so contraintuitional...

  • I agree that this is a careful study but it's applicability is all but ignored. Morphing material is already part of our world but I personally would not want to be inside a structure while it was changing assuming that my biological material is not morphable as well. Is that a ridiculous comment. I don;t think so. All technology mirrors biology. IN this sense, the architecture will reform when humanity has adapted the thought forms that make us first. DNA is an antenna. THink about it..

  • what a brilliant concept !!! i love it...wish it was now.... :o)

  • this is stupid. Im gonna go live under my leaf

  • im from the future and this is going to happen 2107 not 2106 what a dumbass

  • this guy is on some super organic psychedelics to be thinking the way his thinking.

  • It sounds great. Sign me up. But I think this kind of technology will take a least a few hundred years or more.

  • This guy is an architect? So where the hell does everyone live... under a leaf?

  • LA organic tech one flu virus and your done

    LOL

  • So future LA is a bunch of shiney goo flying around the ruined city, and some clouds?

  • I lol'd

  • Incredible concepts! and like how he presented it...

  • its fake 2106 man of future :D

  • i wish it would happen again. I always wondered what clean air smelled like. I'm so used to polluted air, in fact, I was born during pollution so I really want to sniff clean air =(

  • Then you should Come to Hawaii!!! we have clean air and Clean water!!!

  • then yo body cant take clean air

  • chlorophilia are you fucking kidding me

  • check out the veiled stinkhorn mushroom, future guy. we should all live in mushroom houses

  • GaY!!!! like thats guna happend

  • with porno tooo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • very, very very very sweeeeeeet

  • wow this is beyonddddd reality...in a stupid impossible way

  • This is what happens when we take the brown acid.

  • lol chlorofile get away from the children paedo!# i dunno

  • corny.

  • interesting concept. but what is this jungle made of? what happens when it takes over and does shit i dont want it too?...for example, one day i could be sleeping and this organic intelligence house thing decides too get rid of the roof...and i live in canada and it will fucking snow on my playstation 7, great.

  • haha

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA...GREAT COMENT!!!!

    damn correct observation too!

  • the architecture exists in a cybernetic conversation with the dwellers. it is not its own disperate entity. the cybernetic loop consists of a dual motivation and direction of its shifting vector. projects like this undermine the prison of a naive reality that architects continue to operate in. its time architecture grew up.

  • nice

  • interesting

  • i swear this guy must of been fuckin high of his ass when he made this documentary.

  • Taking human thought to the next level. Religion will be ancient folklore, and humans can findly branch out into the vast possiblities of the universe.

  • This guy is obviously a vegetarian...

Which isn't a bad thing. He probably just needs to up his protein intake to come back to reality...

  • LOL *booo yahhh*

    well said.

  • Comment removed

  • Uhh I dislike it, I couldn't even really understand what they were trying to show ..... Meh...

  • randomosity

  • this has no substance at all! total rubbish, all ive seen is 3d renders using max or viz or something!

    crap

  • This whole idea is so nebulous, there isn't a hint of how to approach this idea. And the visuals were abstract and offered no frames of reference. This video reminds me of when children try to say a number higher than the other child and say things like "a bazillion gazillion times a thousand plus one," believing they've said something even remotely meaningful.

  • that's the exact same way i felt about the video too. There was absolutely no REAL structures. It just looks like a 3d artist got bored and decided to make some moving fluid objects. Also, I don't really like the idea of having living creatures construct our cities. All living things die; there would probably be a lot bigger cleanup when whole parts of the city die off.

  • after watching this i had the wildest dream of my life. i was in a program called monstate or cafe. everyone was linked; there were no boundries; preferences became surreal fantasy hallucinations... It was a new type of dream. Just dream this stuff and it will be real?

I responded well to this new concept!

  • CITY OF LOS ANGELES 213!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • uh...

  • Oh great. Now people from our own time are knocking our generation.

  • chlorophilia is an outlandish idea and won't be necessary thanks to the advancements in nanotechnology. Still very creative idea though.

  • PLZ build a time machine for me so I'll talk to Sanjay Jones!! I'll promise I won't change the past, ok?

  • The view "back" from the future is cool but the presentation is extremely nebulous and almost mystical. I can go along with living, intelligent matter but what was missing was a building per se. I never saw a home, school, church or hospital - just chlorophilia. (Sorry, but that name is batty. Sounds like one of the Xmen.)

  • Yeah....this is not going to happen

  • Chlorophilia, sounds like an STD.

  • lmao thats what i was thinking

  • Chlorophilia

  • Is it just me or did this entire video neglect to show even so much as a rendering of a protective, inhabitable, secure structure?

"It's own human-like intelligence"? This just in, we're not the most intelligent systems analysts living on this planet. How many trees cut down humans to survive? Nature's got it all figured out, not us.

The whole thing is far too poetically dramatic, in that distinctly smog-informed Los Angeles kind of way. Maybe it should be a series of sci-fi films instead.

  • So, you're inside a house in "Chlorophilia" and it suddenly changes, "Where's the bathroom!" etc. Suddenly the house contorts and squashes you.

  • No, it would be all porn. Society would get nothing done, they would just enjoy porn all day, everyday.

  • This is using Sciece well, but the queston is, if the plant/animal building changes for its sudable eniverment, then doesn't that mean that Humans would die from it. Look think about Humans are naturals at making thousands of waste and if thats like a animal or plant then it gets rid of any threats, right? so in other words the city or plant would develope into like a Venus fly trap

  • dude whoever thought of this must have been really high.

  • ahahahahha chlorphila? how gay

  • my vision of the future tecnology advances to a degree that makes the technology we use now seem dull it avances so much that it litterly run humans the humans will depend on it and it will depend on them self tie shoes a medician for everything and a car that runs off its surrounds is addaptable and can fly or hover in a multi engine failure and cyber lims for people who lose parts of thier body

  • you should watch Forbidden Planet

  • Good idea, a new perspective to urban design

  • This should be made into a horror... "When The Plant House Gets Pissed"

  • lol

  • I think whats interesting is that they used Hernan Diaz Alonso since he said that if he lived in a city that he designed, it would be a nightmare. He's a teacher of grotesque architecture at sciarc.

  • lol that's just stupid sorry.

  • ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhaahahahahahhahahahahahaahhahahahahaahahaahhahahaahahahahhaahha...and...ahahahahaahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhaahhahahahahah...maybe some one...ahahahahah

  • almost exactly as i've imagined myself. except the intelligence part.

I imagined that bio-engineered trees would grow pods for human habitation (rooms).

Horses engineered to have chambers or canopies to serve as living vehicles.

Bugs, insects would act as distributed communication channels. TV displays for example would be constructed by millions of bioluminescent tiny bugs (modified fireflies).

Also, human would be immortal. However, as they grow older (probable 2 or 3 centuries)...

  • ...they would elect to be connected into the virtual world, preserving only their brains. These brains are interconnected into a giant 'computer' providing information processing and storage for the whole world. The personality and individuality of the person itself is maintained. Only very small capacity of brain power is used as shared resources. People in this state would still actively participate in community lives.

  • ★★★★★ [just watch it again] ★★★★★

  • lol at first the cloud was all porn

  • yeah I guess thats a future volkswagen bug..

  • science of the future is so not useful, they have been wrong since they started thinking of this as "science", every prediction- dead wrong. no one knows how this world will look like in 20 years. name this video scifi show and good is.

and the concept is strangly visualized, growing cities, maybe, but not as shown here...

  • This is an awesome concept/sci-fi short.

And just because we've been acting irresponsible doesn't mean we're a virus.

That being said, complete control isn't possible either, improvisation and adaptability are two of humanities greatest strengths after all, so complete control would work against us.

  • I am now dumber for watching this! yes!!! porn! lol! how fucking stupid!!

  • exactly,This is total wank

  • silly

  • all of you who don't see this as a great idea, thought or outlook for the future are obviously so blinded by your mindless consumerism. you people are the reason why we should ALL be killed off of this living organism called earth. WE ARE A VIRUS HELLBENT ON DESTROYING HER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I disagree, you should always have control of your surroundings. That is how our ancestors got through, by control. This idea for a new city lacks that fundamental control. And plus, you're being very over-sensitive on this. Some people don't like/disagree, it's their opinion, and thus you should respect it. Not say we should all die.

  • You're obviously an over opinionated asshole

  • wtf? I don't wanna live in a plant!

  • wtf is this

  • car that flys drives floats, gets its fuel from organic matter wont happen. why would greedy corperations sell you a vehicle that does 3 things when they can sell you 3 that do 1, and free fuel? LOL if u cant put a meter on it then its never gona happen

  • i dont wanna live in that stupid-looking crap

  • im lost wtf was that stuff?

  • wtf this is stupid

  • what an asshole

  • get a job

  • he looks like a chlorophile alright

  • wtf is this

  • this is digusting i have never seen a more barbaric plan for our future! This isnt how we are going to interact with nature taking puffs of whatever crap he was talking about. If you think that were going to completly rely on technology thats wrong too, but it sure wont be anything like that horible video!

  • this is the most shitty idea of the next 1000 years..if this is how the future is going to be like...fuck that..

  • what a shitty idea

  • hah yes lol thats wat i think

  • what is this...

  • this is insane were not going to advance that quikly, and were going to be more advanced in computers than in genetic enginering

  • im to stoned for this shytt....WTF?????

  • lmao

  • LMAO its a ugly city

  • if i wanted to live in the forrest i would go to the amazon, cool i guess

  • Nice animation and I guess the theory is okay, but where are the living unites, where are the transportatin systems here are all things needed for man such as agruculture and fresh water?

Living inside a big mess of designed organic matter, thanks but no thanks, I'd rather take my chances in a real jungle!

  • The only thing this dick head organically lives on is, W E E D ! This homo is on some serious mind altering drugs.

  • intresting but besides a lot of pro's i can almost think of as many con's but it seems better than what we have now.

  • this shit is retarted

  • dam that must be some dam good bc bud u be smoking this planet might resemble mars in 100 years we are in peak oil right now if people dont start realy cuting back on wasting fosil fuels and all other materials we shorly will be doomed the planet is all ready over the carring capasity and without machines theres only room for 2 billion people in this hotel stop the greed or we will all face a doomed existance the us is the bigest waster of materials in the world the party will end soon get real

  • the world has plenty of resources to sustain everyone. those in power just don't like to share. didn't u know peak oil is a proven myth? where did u come up with your 2 billion without machines figure. and what machines?, axe, hammer, wheel, cars, cranes, robots, vibrating dildos?

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm squidburgers! A tasty delight of the future.

  • this guy is waaay high on something...!

    This is Bullshiat!

    Tas bien pinche Loco carnal!!!

  • haha this is completely ridiculus. This guy is a r-tard.

  • im sorry, this concept is absolutely ridiculous, all he did was use overly verbose language to abstractly describe how some magical organism that they found simply engineered itself to be the ultimate tool for humans. maybe on some smaller level organic technology will be implemented, but the extent this guy is talking about is pure fantasy

  • ha ha good one

didn't like the part about the big one hitting L.A... I'm already scared living in the heart of earthquake central

  • They wish

of the ozone hole stays open, NYC will be flooded and LA will be destroyed by tornadoes. But if SF drowns and water reaches to LA, LA will have a lake, and the coolest thing is that LA will be growing bigger than NYC!

But is HK is still fine, HK will beat everyone.

    So 2106 is a little.....too late...

the end of the world,...ya know

More of-2035 is the end of the world

  • The only thing this shows is some hippy's drugged up imagination.

  • True

  • Well, this is just a concept, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll be living in organic, floating things! Nevertheless, I know "green" is all the rage these days, but there is something unsettling about these organic visions by scientists and engineers. Why should the future be devoid of straight lines? Why should cars and buildings take slimey, slippery, cellular forms?

  • possibly this really is showing some of what lies ahead.

  • no more entertainment and internet :(

  • we'll be gone way before we ever get to this point

  • As usuall the timeline is way to soon! The level of genetic manipulation to do this is staggering. The year should have been 3106.

  • more like 30003106

  • Obviously you guys have no idea what is going on with science and technology today. Within a few years scientists are projecting we will be able to sequence the human genome for around a 100$, this was an impossible goal only 5 years ago.

  • Mapping or "sequencing" the human genome is one thing, but manipulating DNA at this level is a hole new ball game. Were talking about creating a living - thinking city here! The F-22 Raptor took over 20 years to go from concept to entering service for the Air Force and that's just a fighter plane! An organic city is infinately more complicated. It may take a thousand years of R&D before we humans can make this a reality...

  • Poor fools, in 12 to 15 years a carbon dimondoid material that can morph into any shape you program it to, with atomic accuracy, Now put that clay in your hands and see what you will make...by 2106 A city ten times that will be in orbit, It took 20y to do the raptor and it it takes 11months to have a copy of it...accelerated returns..

  • Even if you lived to be 100 yaers old, the only thing you MIGHT see with any organic parts are computers with living neuro tissue in them! And even that's unlikely with quantum being vastly superior and more widespread by then!

  • Love it ....who made this 3d?? just love it

mm now i`m a clorofile or what is the new term for architects?

WHAT DID HE said AFTER SAYING " I REMMEMBER THE FIRST TIME I SAW A WHAT_? THE CLOUD? sorry

    I only speak Spanish :S

JUMMM THERE MUST BE A LOT OF BOTOX BY THEM

  • WTF!

  • I don't get it.

  • so plants are going to take over LA? That is not good for those of us that are allergic!!

  • lmao

  • practically USELESS!!!

  • futurama was right they are now recycling our garbage and using it to make homes!!!

  • where is the walmart?

  • hehe good one

  • This is the liberal-enviro-whacko's wet dream...if they succeed. Lets stop them!!

  • looks crap nuke it lol

  • this is a common case of some guy smoking paotey

  • Why do people think this actually could happen? This is, like in many architecture studies, a theoretical and conceptual -almost science fiction- vision of how the city could evolve in such hypothetical environments. It may or not be something valid or consistent with human and social behavior, but it´s still an original, organic and conceptual ideal of how a city could work. No harm in that, plus it makes you open your spectrum to new ideas and new possibilities! (Prying open my third eye)

  • now that they said it

    it wont happen

plus watever hes smokin i want some lol
