when marty reid said think good thoughts a chill went down my back. keep in mind this was only a year after dana died. i was really thinking the worst.
@cpcomedy314: Look at all the open-wheel drivers who are in NASCAR now or drove in NASCAR: guys like Hornish, Stewart, Allmendinger, R. Gordon, Montoya, Patrick, Franchitti, Speed, Pruitt, Villeneuve... Also Castroneves, Cheever, Bourdais and others were in IROC as well!!!
@cpcomedy314: Sorry, buddy... I know that only Dario, Sam and Danica from this scene were or are in NASCAR, I just said that it's NOT only them who went from IndyCar (or CART or Formula 1) to NASCAR... Sorry about it, pal...
@barneynward I'm a NASCAR fan but I hate restrictor plates. I hope NASCAR gets rid of this terrible idea soon. All they need to do is raise the walls and back the stands up a bi, and then take the plates off. Now that NASCAR is thankfully going to have fuel injectors, they won't be able to have restrictor plates. BTW that's one reason Indycars don't have the plates, you can't have a restrictor plate when there's no carburetor. I can't wait to see stock cars go 230+ some day.
@erasetoimprove The speeds of racing are far too great to EVER take the plates off; on the contrary the plates are FAR better both for the speeds and for the quality of the racing. Going to fuel injectors (which make no sense because they're not better than carbs) will not eliminate restrictor plates at all - the plates are permanent and the system they're using is one that requires the kind of intake that allows restrictor plates.
@erasetoimprove I guess you didnt see carl edwards almost fly into the stands. If they fix the airborne issue, I dont have a problem taking them off, but till then, leave them on.
I remember this. I was on the frontstreach and where I was sitting, I thought that he flipped out of the track. Just terrified me. Glad he was OK.
Still, I think IndyCar needs to come back to Michigan. Some great racing there and I started going every year in 2005 and then was crushed in 2008 when I couldn't go again.
How in the world can you say she caused this crash? Dario and Dan touched wheels. Just like you, i'm no Danica fan, buut there is no way she caused this crash.
This is why indycars shouldn't race on ovals. This happens several times a year even occasionally ending up with debris killing fans!. I love racing like crazy but these cars are to dangerous on ovals. They are road racing cars. period. And if they kill many more fans or drivers maybe they will be banned altogether and that isn't what anybody wants
3 fans have been killed in the last 10 years, all at the same race, at lowes motor speedway. since then they've made safety improvments, so i think ther're pretty safe
IndyCar hasn't had a driver killed in 7 years. NASCAR hasn't had one killed in 8 years. In fact, no IndyCar driver even broke a bone from a crash last year, NASCAR can't say the same.
more to the point laugh at the redneck commentators, but I in the UK Usually put on the last 20 laps of a nascar race, i sometimes watch the road course races, i watched the whole of watkins glen this year.
That has got to be the scariest feeling in the world, when the car goes upside down like that, thank God Dario was okay. He, like many racers, is a tough dude!
Dude, nobody is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to like NASCAR, I'm glad you like Indy, I am a NASCAR fan but Indy is great, I enjoy watching it. But for God's sake stop ripping on OTHER forms of racing.
All forms of racing have the same thing in common, they're EXCITING!!
Take it easy guys, no racing sport is better than the other, NASCAR is not better than F1 and F1 is not better that NASCAR! All racing is cool, NASCAR, Formula 1, Indy, World of Outlaws (Sprint Car), THERE ALL GREAT!
no deaths since 1994 in f1, and i wouldn't be suprised if there never is another death the way the cars are now. In the 50'ss 60's and 70's you didn't know if you would see a driver again, now nobody ever thinks about it.
Get rid of those ridiculous flying Dallaras. How many times do they take off like a kite before they go into the stands? Even when barely tapped like Marco at Mid-Ohio they flip on their lids. Those cars suck!!
the front wings are higher off the ground that champcar front wings, the little downforce that was there after a crash in one of these is gone and they take off
Its time to figure out a way to keep these damn things on the ground before someone gets killed (but if they handle it the way NASCAR does, thats what it will take, dont do something until there is a death, or a few)
NASCAR started the initiative to keep cars grounded after a crash that was not a death. I can't recall any deaths from flips in the last 20 or so years.
i agree, look at the film ,like i did slowly, and youll see that at the last second ,that punk dario, came down ondan front end, when dan pulled up,dans aggressive,he knew that he couldnt handle dan if he got the lead again so he was hopeing with a lite nudge at the last second, that you can barley see,in less you watch it slowly he would get away with causeing him to wreck, bet you danica is behind this,
I work at Target and I am ashamed he is our driver. Nothing like flipping someone out. He better be over there helping. I would need a barfbag if I knew I casued that.
Dario: I meant to do that...

230 MPH has NO place in racing. 185 is enough.

Yeah sorry, my mistake, i had in mind that it was Dario and Danica that touched... but yes Danica is in third place, and Dario and Dan touched.
Then its mostly Dan's fault in my opinion.
But I've seen Danica cause several contacts/minor crashes, so i dont think she's a very good driver. That was my point =)

Well, not the first time Danica Patrick causes a crash, of course it wasnt only her fault, but mostly...
