I would warn you to make sure you get a puppy and raise it with strict obedience training. Chows may look cute and fluffy, but they are one of the most infamously aggressive and stubborn breeds out there. They are excellent for personal protection and companionship, but they dont necessarily get along well with other dogs and may exhibit harmful behavior towards smaller ones in an effort to assert dominance over them. Make sure you socialize your Chow well to avoid this.

I had to put my beloved chow down about a year and a half ago....I miss him so much. Anyway, I think people need to now that these dogs can be very powerful and independent. An owner must establish his/her dominance at an early stage in the dog's life. If not, the dog will dominate you! Do you think Cesar Millan would put up with a dog showing him up like that?
